CSPromod 1.07 released

The CSPromod developing team have announced that Beta 1.07 is available for download.

Six months after the release of the Beta 1.06, the new 116MB update is mainly about minor tweaks and fixes. This new update is a full install file, so if you have an older version of CSPromod installed, first you need to delete it.

The weapons recoil has been tweaked to mimic 1.6 recoil, the maps have gone under the knife, adding some known boosts only present in 1.6.

The much hated game breaking godmode bug present in the mod since the 1.05 version is now gone.

Be sure to download the 1.07 version here and don't forget to leave your feedback on the CSPromod forums as this is an important step in the development of the Mod.

Well the whole point of the project IIRC was to update the classic 1.6 gameplay to any new version of Counter-Strike, so even if Valve does release CS:GO, chances are these peeps will still make the effort to port that mod to the new release. So even if CS:GO turns out to be CS:S 2, the community's disappointment will be yet another opportunity to make this project successful by bringing the 1.6 gameplay to the newest version. Whether the project ends up failing or being a hit in the future, I have nothing but respect for the people involved.

As soon as this becomes popular, I love to give it a try, much rather than CS:GO with their new nades and guns O_o Gameplay & feeling make CS the game it is today, but they wanna change it to a modern FPS in CS:GO it seems. That said, CSP cannot fail or CS will die! =D

I will try both CS:GO and promod, though I haven't touched CSP yet as when it came out I only heard negative comments it seems Im going to have to check it out though as I see alot of people favour CSP over CS:GO at this point in time.

I said I didn't mind it as I used the "bug" aswell to counter opponents who do it, but ofcourse I would not mind if it was taken out. In fact I would prefer if it had never been there in the first place (the crouchrunning) :P would've saved the CS scene alot of discussions and tournaments with unclear rules and admins who had to decide on the spot what to do (remember the disastrous ESTRO-mYm case at WCG 2007-think it was 2007, might've been 2006-)

Nah, let me write a little FAQ for potential questions. Why do they use CS:S stuff? Because why would they start from scratch when they can re-use that stuff and later on the Mod they can create their own materials, props, models, textures. Why the source engine? Because they are ripping off a game, and the only way to do it legally is by doing on a Valve's engine, since the most recent one is the source engine But the source engine is already outdated, why do they even continue to work with that crap? Because once the have the perfect code, they can port it to another engine.

It depends fully on Valve. CSPromod uses the latest available version of Source - 2007. (the Alien Swarm one is nearly useless for a 1st person game) If Valve decides to release a SDK with a newer engine - 2009, Portal 2, L4D or L4D2 version - it would boost the CSPromod into a higher level. Like I said, it depends on Valve...

Fist of all I'm NOT a coder. But the transition would take some time, of course. The MAJOR benefit would be the STABLE mutlti-core rendering (mat_queue_mode related stuff) which is nearly useless on 2007. Also there would be some additional minor improvements.

Hard to tell, since I haven't played on all maps, but for me they got the 1.6 feel right, as a personal opinion I would give it a 7, now I think they can start focusing on the custom textures, sounds, models etc (But maybe is just me, I have spent the last week playing a lot of CS:S)

You guys really need to try promod. I just played it and its VERY close to 1.6. They got the movement, gun paterns, maps almost perfect, 100% playable. The only thing i can say that isnt good is the flashes. You get flashes for to long, and they are a little to powerful. If every1 switched to promod tomorrow, i would have no problem with it. Thats how good of a first impression i had with this game. I didn't think it was possible to get the 1.6 feeling on the Source engine, but i guess it is. If CS 1.6 is a 10/10, ill rate promod a 9/10 right now. Its close to perfect. Just to compare how i feel about all the games i would give Source a 5/10.

Because it's mat_dxlevel 95 problem, you need to change it to mat_dxlevel 81 and flashes will be the same like in CS 1.6.

the flash is ridiculous. it starts to fade away like it should but it takes so long til it's finally done...the whole round you sit there thinking "i'd move if i saw smth". also spraying doesn't seem to affect at all, gotta tap every time. but other than that i had a pleasant first try

lmao, how can you say its close to feeling like 1.6. Honestly.. I played it half an hour and the only way it's close to 1.6 is the graphics, it just looks dated and drab like 1.6 played at a high res. No big change over any other CSP I tried... wtfs the point the point in spending YEARS making a game try to be like 1.6, just keep playing 1.6! Bring together the community my ass, if 1.6 dies this dies too Thats not even the thing that pisses me off the most, players STILL skip and jitter around sinking bullets like the early days of CSS lol, sort it out!

This 1.07 update has taken a _HUGE_ leap forward in my opinion, mainly it finally feels like i'm not playing Source when i'm playing CSP, which for me is all I wanted. Is it perfect? of course not but playable? Hell yes. We should all get behind this project.

They didn't choose the source engine, it was their only option, Valve only has two engines, Gldsrc (HL1) and the Source engine (HL2). The reason why they didn't do it on the Cry engine or on the Unreal Engine was because they are basically riping off a game, they need to do it on a Valve's engine, that's why CSP is a free mod and why it's on the source engine.

The Steam account has been used to log in from another computer. To continue using Steam, you need to log in again. Can't join a single server. Been getting that error on every single server. Someone please help. I want to play this really bad! I have searched for this and found another topic on cspromod website which advised the person to delete the ClientRegistry.blob file in Steam directory and restart Steam. I tried that and it did not seem to help. I followed the later comments and people also advised that changing the password may help and that doesn't seem to work either. I have logged in plenty of time but I can't get it to work.

I liked for the most part already the previous version and this looks nice judging by the videos. The only big problem I have is the models. Their running animation looks hilarious, and not in a good way. Although if I remember correctly they were planning to do new models and these were just temporary ones. If they could do that then it would be even better. But it's impossible to see what these all developments mean. Promod isn't looking bad, Hidden Path is still updating source, and CS:GO is on the way... If only Valve would cooperate with the Promod guys and buy rights to the source code (or even hire their main developer) so that the progress would be faster. Not to even mention Valve could see what direction they should take their cs games as I think the promod guys have done pretty well to capture what is good in cs, and are adding nice extras on top.

Wow, this was actually pretty good.. the movement feels almost identical to 1.6, the recoil is getting there too... this is a huge step in the right direction, with a few minor tweaks and fixes I would play this game instead of 1.6 (assuming that all the competitions etc moved to it) for sure. People need to accept that 1.6 IS starting to die, there needs to be a new version of the game with better graphics etc to attract more sponsors.. unless CS:GO shocks us all, this is as good as it's going to get.

I quite enjoyed the ladders - nuke door-to-went jump :P What surprised me the most is nade attack on upper on nuke (through the doors) Works in every way for me. Even this flash threw in specific angle of the doors (while opening) which is landing somewhere around bs boxes :)

Well i'll put it this way: it feels nothing like 1.6. But it feels nothing like source. The aim is closer to 1.6 and the recoil is getting there. However my main problem - across all guns is that when i hit people in the chest with the m4/ak it doesn't feel like it's doing anything. Seriously, the armor must be soaking up all the damage or something because i lay a whole clip into a guy and don't get the kill(and i'm hearing them connect and everything). Feels weird man.

yeah the bhop and the crouch walk is awesome....i just have the feel in motion to me. I don't think it ever will. The recoil doesn't seem to be the same IMO. Maybe it's becuase i'm not feeling the same feedback i do in 1.6, but it may be the same and it may all be in my mind, idk really.

Seems like these guys can't ever be counted out - every time they are quiet for awhile they always shoot back with an update. I am personally optimistic because pro mod CAN work with community input and hard work by the developers. Hard work and good community feed back are key here. Animations are only in its initial form. Models too. Part of CSS sounds is gonna be resampled... Whole spectator part is gonna be COMPLETELY overhauled in the upcoming versions (no more instant crouch, double sounds, etc.)

Where did you install it? If you have a custom path to Steam you prolly need to specify that. Or you can download the CSPromod ZIP package - just unpack to your Steam/steamapps/SourceMods directory. Then restart Steam. It should be normally in your game list as CSPromod BETA 1.07.

I have to agree that I like this mode, but the awp reaction time is bigger thant the 1.6 version and the player models are not that good I mean when the player turn right or left we feel like the lower part is independant from his body at the hips level its still weird. I like the clean maps no barrel no cars and so on, and the feel is so good :D

People who complain about how the shooting is bad, you're maybe just shitty. Or deagle is accurate as fuck, maybe your aim with a deagle is pretty badass for the moment. If you're fucking good, there's no complaint. Just play that shit and overcome the negativity, bugs, error, and other complaints. Show who's boss. Just because the deagle is accurate, it might be accurate to others too. They're EVEN. Just beause the shooting is bad, doesnt mean the shooting is bad for others too. Flashbangs take too long to disappear the "white screen" and the weapons are more to css than to 1.6, deagle is kind of no 1.6, and no css, deagle sucks recoil of ak it's different, colt is ok,the burst of the glock looks like it's better than the deagle, and awp it's very effective my opnion

Soooo here are my thoughts: The positive: - The movement feels decent (kinda like 1.6) - Shooting + recoil looks decent feels decent (1.6) - Recoil particles / impact (look like cs1.6 but looks bit off in the better graphics, since the 1.6 maps are really flat lighted etc but it's fine) - The headshot particles is bit extreme :o The negatives: - The models look terrible (proportions are way off) - The animations... looks like students that just started done it (sorry, no offense) - The "dead animations" is way too slow) - I still think, and i've already told this to the artist of cs pro mod... the hud is too much off, colors dont match, multiple fonts that dont match(switching weapons + nades label font), icons are not alike so on. - And you really still feel tiny in the source engine, but I've got a feeling that also the gun model makes it look like ur small. Now i'm just curious whether they will continue this with a good developer leaving etc.

OMG, just played it for the first time, it feels amazing, really really close to 1.6 I would only wish Valve picked up this project, doubt that even if they make a CS2 it will be so good as this CSPromod. 1 or 2 more patchs and I think CSPromod will be amazing. But it still has a problem, in CSS one thing I hate is that I don't know if I hit a guy or not it's weird it's like I don't know where I'm shooting at, and I think Promod is like that also, but maybe it's just because I have 100 ping in Promod because there are just a few servers to play.

I just want you to change 1 thing in CSP, the shooting, if the shooting/models being hit is exactly like 1.6 I will love this game. I was playing CSP and I thought, well this is actually quite nice, the movement is fine, the recoil is not bad, but when I entered in 1.6 I noticed the shooting in CSP is really diferent, it feels like 1.6, not talking about the recoil but the models being hit and the bullets of my weapon getting out just feels weird like CSS, and I can't see if the CTs are looking at me or if I hit the guy like in CSS.
