defs win WCG Portuguese qualifier

The recent changes in the lineup of the Defining Stars team have proven to be worthy, as this Sunday they defeated K1ck for a spot at the World Cyber Games in Korea.

de_nuke would be the first map, starting off as Counter-Terrorists K1ck were able to stomp on defs by finishing the first half with a 10-5 lead, but defs wouldn't take that lead for granted as they would only allow their opponents to win 4 more rounds before finishing off the map with the score of 16-14.

In the second map, de_dust2, all eyes were on Ricardo "fox" Pacheco as it's on this map where his big green gun shines, but it would be Tiago "dzt" Gonçalves from defs who would show off his sniper kills by hitting some crucial shots.

Playing on the CT side, defs would show good teamplay as most of their bombsite retakes would be successful, eventually they would win the first half with the score of 11-4, leaving k1ck with little maneuver to regain the confidence to win the 12 rounds necessary. As Terrorists defs would win the pistol and the following 3 rounds, K1ck would win one more round but unfortunately defs already had 15 rounds and they would win the following round, ending the match with the final score of 16-5.

Three years later, defs will once again represent the Portuguese colours at the WCG with the following line-up:

With this victory defs will add the WCG to their attendance list as well, with the ESWC spot already won last month.

because when k1ck (back then defs) rose to the top, they were known as a bunch of newschoolers. they dethroned the group of oldschoolers that had dominated the portuguese cs scene until then (with the exception of enkor for a short while). coachi was a new breed of teamcaptain and was always very outspoken on forums and websites, which wasn't very seen at the time. most of elite players like fox (which to this day refuses to give out interviews), never spoke much with the community or gave out their opinions. that coupled with reasonably good international performances (which also were new to us) made people like them as a team.

Let me give to y'all my opinion about this. K1CK are lacking training and motivation, two things that Defs has a lot of, with 2 new members, it's nothing new, it takes some time to adapt, more time to spekz, since he never played under the tag "K1CK". What I think it should be done is coachi and company leave K1CK organization, since it was Spirit (K1CK CEO) who booted axoN (which was motivated, with a good form and he's skilled) because he couldn't go to DH Valencia, and only sayed that when coachi arrived from Bulgaria (Tuesday, the tournament was Friday, so Spirit was really mad), so Spirit booted him, even if coachi on defs.org stated that he would never boot axoN, because he thinks axoN is the 2nd best player of all time, right next to fox, so axoN will only join coachi's team again if they leave K1CK for another org. With axoN on the team, they have aim and motivation, and now that axoN has more free time, they could pracc more, and SHOUW isn't what he used to be, he isn't motivated, in an interview with ERRZyx he talked about retirement, so he could retire and they could bring back axoN. Another thing missing in K1CK is "rmn", everybody in portuguese scene knows him, maybe because he started only playing 3 years ago, and he's so skilled, in my opinion a line-up with rmn can only be good. Concluding the wall of text, coachi should go to Online-Kingdom (they already were invited, before OK invited that finnish squad with BASiC, Freon, etc) and bring back axoN for SHOUW and try to bring in rmn for mUt/spekz. coachi fox axoN rmn spekz/mUt Would be awesome. By the way, I'm not talking about ehz, I know he's skilled and he has a very good tactical sense, but when he was in K1CK, he didn't delivery like he used to do in BUSSIFUORI/exotic/Paranoids times. That's all, love for y'all. <3

I don't think so, as matter of fact, before coachi said that, I already had that opinion, so, it only confirms what I said. honestly you wouldn't see as much as you've seen. has a diehard fox fan for ages, it has become aparent that even if he still comes up with great plays, he isn't as good as he used to back in 2008/2009. maybe having to actually work now instead of playing cs all the time influenced, maybe the obvious lack of motivation and ambition that comes with so many years of playing the same game influenced that. shit, i dunno, but he isn't as dominant and that was also part of the reason they lost the qualifier. don't get me wrong, he played and still plays good, but not godlike good, a level above all else, like he used to.

With the recent changes k1ck and defs are teams with the same amount of skill, maybe k1ck have more aim but for what I know, defs have studied every k1ck's tactics, and with the lack of training from k1ck they are predictable bringing the advantage to defs But individualities solve games sometimes and this time it was what happened. We saw from DARKY one of the best games ever and a really really bad game from mUt

calam1ty you need understand one thing, yesterday the majority of Portuguese community was against Defining Stars, including some media in event lol... Many people are still surprising, but the reality is: Defs are more stronger than k1ck at this moment and deserve win this and anothers events like we do... I just hope the k1ck continue to train and work, as the Portuguese scene is becoming stronger and more developed and we can see in a short time two teams at a high level to compete with the best teams in the world!
