mousesports on top of Group B

The group stage at IEM6 Global Challenge Guangzhou concluded today with Group B, as mousesports came out on top with all three wins, while second place went to WinFakt after a 16-9 win over TyLoo in the last match of the day.

In the second day of competition at IEM6 Global Challenge Guangzhou the other two semi-finalists were found in form of mousesports and WinFakt. The German squad showed impressive play in their first two matches and claimed the top spot with 9 points, defeating their main rivals with ease, WinFakt 16-6 and TyLoo 16-2.

Indonesian team Executioners, who came to the event with a last minute stand-in, only managed to put up a fight against mousesports in the last match which didn't influence anything for both teams, closely losing 13-16. That meant WinFakt and TyLoo encounter in the last round of play would decide the 2nd placed team.

The clash between the Finnish and the Chinese team turned out to be the most interesting one of the day, with a lot of close rounds especially in the first half. The map was de_train, WinFakt started on the CT-side and they were seemingly in control most of the time, but TyLoo managed to win a few clutch rounds to get to a respectable 6 round total for their T-side. Most memorable of those rounds was a 1vs4 situation won by Lai "xf" Xuefeng in the early part of the first half.

TyLoo then managed to win the second pistol round and it seemed we were in for a close finish, but WinFakt retailiated right away by winning the 2nd round. The Chinese team didn't manage to come back from that shock despite taking another 2 rounds later, and WinFakt ended up celebrating a 16-9 victory.

That secured a semi-final spot for the Finns, and along with mousesports they will tomorrow meet with top two teams from Group A, fnatic and eFuture.
