EG qualify for MSI BEAT IT 2011

Evil Geniuses have qualified for MSI BEAT IT 2011 by winning the North American qualifier, defeating Sky 2-0 in order to do so.

The North American qualifier took place online Saturday and Sunday, with three known names attending. The ESEA champions from Evil Geniuses had signed up and were clear favorites, while UMX.us and Temporary were the challengers.

Challengers did however fall short of having a shot at EG, losing in the quarter-final stage. Not much doubt about who would qualify was left and EG confirmed it by winning their semi-final 2-0 against AmazingOnline and 2-0 in the qualifier final against Sky.

Broken tag

Evil Geniuses with the win bagged $1,000 but also a spot at MSI BEAT IT 2011, which will take place at DreamHack Winter, November 24-27. EG will join SK Gaming, who are directly qualified as they won DreamHack Summer, as well as k1ck, who won the DreamHack South Europe qualifier.

More qualifiers will be announced shortly, European teams will see a total of four online qualifiers, where a total of six teams will book a spot for MSI BEAT IT 2011.

in terms of the level the top3 invite teams are at, any and all esea main teams are considered "shitties". every main team that has gotten moved up to invite in the past, aside from backfire, has done terribly against the top NA teams. most main teams are terrible out of main. sky is no different, and they are no backfire.

watch the Paragon of Virtue vs mTw HLTV demo (its in the demo section on this site). hero is a complete monster when he's in his zone. judging by the ESEA LAN videos ive seen recently, he's playing like a spaz and thats why he's missing shots. basically, hero and irukandji have been underperforming, but EG's good enough to still win all of their matches. i think everyone in the US knows what theyre capable of when they're on, so if every guy on EG can get their heads in the game, then we're looking at a real cs team. really hope they get to bootcamp in sweden soon. hopefully with the MSI beat it qualification, that'll be their chance. best of luck to them with all these events they have coming up. theyre off to a great start.

i havent watched that demo yet but i agree hero is spazzin but he was out of the sean for a long time, watching him this weekend he was hitting shots that he was missing a week ago but he still needs to step it up for ny, i hope eg has money to send them to sweden also they need a boot camp hella bad but eg has been putting a lot of money into thire sc2 team atm.

yeah known fact EG is focused 100% into SC2 now and EG.cs will not have any bootcamps in Sweden. I doubt we'll see them in international events unless the trip is paid for. To be quite frank I don't expect them to do anything vs international teams anyway.

they already said they have a budget to go overseas. its probably not what it used to be, but theyre able to narrow down the tournaments they want to attend. dont know what youre talkin bout.

that's fine, but they have a budget to play internationally. "known fact EG is focused 100% into SC2 now and EG.cs will not have any bootcamps in Sweden." makes it not a fact, and it makes you wrong.

it probably cost them a total of $3000 (maybe less) to attend the ESEA Finals, and they won $10,000. they do this about 3 times a year, plus the $1000 they won from the MSI Beat It qualifier, and any other local events/tournaments they compete in. when they win, the sponsors stay interested in the organization. SC2 has taken point for them, but there's nothing to justify dropping the CS division, when theres still competition available worldwide for them. they make all of the money in North America for this game, so that alone is the reason a gaming organization keeps them alive. you should be supporting them, UMX, backfire, and any other team that are keeping organizations into this game. theyre the best team and organization in the country. would you rather EG drop them and cs entirely? where would that leave our scene?

theyre walking advertisements when theyre overseas, as every international team that competes is. if they play in china, what you don't realize is that thousands of kids see them as celebrities and gains exposure to Evil Geniuses. EG sells mousepads, gets website hits, sponsor exposure, etc. to think that the only reason to sponsor a team is so they win every event is retarded. it definitely helps if they win, but theres always a benefit to the org. how did EG afford to support a team for the past 5 or so years? they never won anything overseas, minus 2 events (gamegune and MSI). compLexity can't afford to keep a cs team, because they have no sponsors. jason lake is trying to sell merchandise to make a profit and fund his team, but no one wants to buy his shit, and he can't afford to keep a non-winning team. if he had sponsors the team would pay for itself, as long as he did his job right. EG has the potential to down top international teams. every player on the lineup has proven they can swing with the big dogs, whether it was on coL, x3o, POV, EG, etc. UMX and temporary also have the ability to compete, but they need to get exposed as a team to european cs. the old EG didn't win an event until they bootcamped and competed together for a while, so what's to say another american lineup can't do the same with equal opportunities?

all that it took for old eg to get good was until frod and storm got used to 1.6 and they got rid of the cancer (warden) who was roughly as good as a podbot on level 10. the reason this team isn't getting sent anywhere is because they aren't good, wait for iem ny and please respond back

I'm not sold with this new EG line-up at all until after they play SK and mTw at this event. Secondly it took the old EG about a full year and a boot camp for them to start competing. There's no way EG is going to pay for them to attend the amount of international lans and provide them a boot camp. Either way if they don't beat mTw and SK they don't deserve to be provided anything besides ESEA LANS. You're talking about a line-up with people minus pauLy who have been competing vs top teams for a few years now, they need to win and win now. Sadly it's alot to ask and it's probably not going to happen.

Oh he had a good match three years ago? THREE (3) YEARS AGO. Both him and Irukandji sucked some major D at ESEA finals, Irukandji finished with a whopping 0.55 FPR and -30 at AN AMERICAN EVENT. How about euros then? 0.3 FPR, -60?

hes been a top fragger for his team every other season of invite. he's led teams to win lots of matches against euro teams. he 1v5'd SK when he first joined EG. he's one of the best fraggers in the country, and the best IGL in north america. he had one bad event, which his team still won.

Horribly Ok, not what you meant, I know :p. They looked good on CT at first but then gave up a few rounds that Sky was able to build on, making the first half 9-6. Then on T they just had no answer for them. They took a round here and there, but some good pushes to take over lobby won Sky some important rounds towards the end. It seemed more like Sky was in charge, and Temp was reacting to what they did, rather than trying to take control themselves. That's how I saw it anyway.
