Focus on Global Gaming

At ESWC Denmark will be represented by both NoA and the less known Global Gaming. What started as a mix team is now a player in the big leagues.

It's almost like a fairytale, but it isn't. Walth and his boys went from mix team at a minor LAN and straight to the adult table. Here is what he had to say.

Tell our readers a little about Global.gaming and what they have achieved so far in 2007?

Global Gaming is a serious and dedicated Swedish organization. At the moment it only holds two teams, a Danish CS 1.6 (my team) and a Source team. As a team, we have achieved a 2nd place at the Danish ESWC qualification and a 4th place in the Danish online cup XplayN Grand Prix 4.

The organization Global Gaming has been around for a while now. What's it like to be in such a dedicated organization?

Yeah, it's great to be in such a dedicated organization, and also great to be playing alongside 4 of my very good friends and good players for that matter.

World wide your team is not that known. Could you tell us how it started and what the future plans is?

I guess the whole thing started when pzyclone and I talked about creating a mix team for SLAP LIVE #11 (a Danish LAN), we talked to our former teammates telli and elgen and our good friend woodi, and they were all into the mixteam idea. The LAN went quite well, and we managed to defeat some quite okay teams. After the LAN we talked about making a team consisting of the five of us, but elgen wasn't into the idea, since he couldn't find neither time nor motivation for clan cs. Fortunately for us bardi was ready since he had just parted ways with his former team Ideal Gaming, and here we are! I guess our future plans are to attend lots of big events, and just make some results.

What do you think about your major rivals, h2k and NoA

I think they're both great teams, and I have a lot of respect for all the players in both teams.

What is that makes NoA the absolutely best team in Denmark? What is it they have or do that no other Danish team for quite some time have been able to match or surpass?

I think it is because of their dedication and also the fact that they have stayed together for so long. Well okay, they recently switched Paddy with Sunde, but still, the team has been together for quite some time now. I think that's the problem for most Danish teams. They don't seem to stick together in hard times, but hopefully it will change sooner or later.

How do you think NoA will perform in this years ESWC final?

I actually think that NoA is one of the underdogs to the title. I am very fund of their way of playing the game, and I believe they have a good chance for the title.

What can we expect from Global.gaming at ESWC grand finals?

I don't really know how far we can go in the tournament, but of course we'll try to play our A-game and perform the best we can. I just hope that we can keep our seed.

What needs to be changed in order for you to go all the way? New training routines, mental preparations or something else?

In order to win ESWC, I think you need world class skill, experience and chemistry. We definitely have chemistry, but I don't think we have the other two, yet, and I don't think we will get there by this years ESWC. We just have to keep playing as many events as possible, and see how far it takes us. Rome wasn't built in one day!

Could you tell the audience what you are doing about 15 minutes before an important match?

I just focus and prepare myself mentally. Perhaps I get a bottle of water. I don't really have any special ritual...

Who do you think will be in the final and why?

I think fnatic and Pentagram will meet each other in the final, because I think they're both great, amazing teams.

Do you fear any teams?

I wouldn't say I fear any teams, no.

Any last shout outs?

I would like to thank our sponsors: CS-Hosting.dk and universalGaming.net

It will be interesting to follow this new team in Paris and perhaps they might be able to add another chapter to their fairytale. Goodluck to the team!

hum, always refreshing to see 'younger' teams competing in such events, which seem to have much potential! :D Good Luck!
