Video: ceh9 ghosting versus AGAiN?

After the second map in the quarter-final between Natus Vincere and AGAiN, a dispute was filed that the Ukrainians had been ghosting by looking at the big screen in the Kiev CyberSport Arena.

Some of you might already have seen the video with Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas discussing with the tournament admins and Sergey "starix" Ischuk and Arseny "ceh9" Trynozhenko, claiming that the Ukrainians had ghosted on second map de_nuke. For those who have not seen it, click here.

We have come into possession of the video presented to the tournament admins, which is from the last round on de_nuke, where Arseny "ceh9" Trynozhenko upon getting killed allegedly looks at the big screen behind him to gather info about the positions of AGAiN, looks to his left and starts talking and continues to look at the big screen. Judge for yourself by hitting play on the video below.

The Ukrainians ended up winning the quarter-final 2-1 and moved into the semi-finals, where they will take on fnatic.

Tournament admins had already given Na´Vi two penalties for rough language, which the rulebook dictates players can't use. After the second map against AGAiN, the Ukrainans supposedly got one more warning for rude expressions. After being presented with the video, tournament admins gave one more penalty to Na´Vi, while AGAiN got one for rough language.

The penalties will supposedly have effect on the prize money the teams end up winning, how much one penalty will deduct is not known.

preteryan meant by "narrowminded" that if ceh9 was able to ghost in the last round on de_nuke, he was possibly doing it all the time on tuscan and so on... But actually the quality of the video is not so good... ceh9 was talking smth to Edward, but would Edward hear it with the headphones (and I belive the volume is not 0.1 on his headphones), plus the noise of the crowd, etc...

Yeah, right, possibility given and I understand that concern. But as long as there is no proof for that... Believe me, if I was a referee or if I were in Taz's position I really would love to sue him for he never appears on stage again. A screen in front of the players? When a stagematch is happening spectators want to see the players, not a giant screen in front of them. Booths aren't needed, if you can't help turning around in a match you shouldn't be playing for a professional team. Simple as that, cheating is disgusting.

Creating environments where human mistakes don't happen is very hard to do and therefore I don't think the organizers should be criticized in a situation like this. In my opinion it is absurd to turn your head when the spectators can see you and I am sure the organizers feel the same way. I am glad ceh9 wants admins behind him at future events because he can't control himself though.

Some tournaments are such epic fails in this regard. I can't remember which it was, but one big tournament last year just had a stream, so I was watching that. The announcers kept mentioning how they couldn't say some things because the players could hear what they were saying. But even still, they were giving away half the game. I remember on Tuscan one announcer said something like, "Well, we won't say what they're doing, but let's switch over to the big green gun going down banana. There should be some action here soon." ......like that really doesn't give away entirely that someone is pushing banana with an awp

my opinion is only opinion. Look at the video. Dont you see him turning his head towards main screen and speaking? Then his acting like nothing happend. Also there are voices of some fnatic guys swearing at ceh9. Arent you even a little bit suspicious? For me he has a lot more motivation to ghost after fight with TaZ than before it. There is no justification for his behaviour no mater what.

Cuz in football or any other sport it doesnt matter if you win or loose when you have used illegal substances, you always get banned!The reason is to scare future attemps of ghosting and so on,as it is not known if they werent ghosting the previous maps(where a video might not be recorded) gg admins

WOW! Check this video of d1monnn, (the organizer of the event), who brings some light on the situation against Na`Vi and AGAiN. Sorry, the video is in Russian. youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedde.. The main point of what he's saying is that Na`Vi already had like 4 warnings earlier for trash talking and ceh9 calling their opponents bad names. Na`Vi was nearly disqualified at this event, but the organizers spoke to them and decided to penalize them by taking away an "N" amount of money from the team. Organizers have also agreed to have few re-ferries on stage behind each team to make sure there's no trasj talking by any team and to make sure noone's monitoring, so basically Na`Vi needs to be as calm as possible in order not get themselves in deeper trouble.

If they are convicted of ghosting, anything short of them losing the entire game is unacceptible, I think. Ghosting is pretty much the most serious cheat one can use in a LAN tournament, and it has to be severly punished.

What ever happened to sportsmanship and fair play? :/ The admins doesn't seem to handle things too well - and why doesn't the penalties benefit the team they're made against instead of random money deductions? Doesn't really serve much of a purpose. Either way, sad behavior from the NaVi guys. Cheating is bad enough, lying about it afterwards and acting like nothing has happened is even worse, especially for top players like this. If these guys can't show eachother the deserved respect, and respect for the game throughout fairplay and decency, what do we have in this gaming community then? :( We have to remember that the top players are rolemodels for a lot of young gamers, so behaving decently and acting mature is really quite essential for both the players, fans and the whole community.

I haven't understood whether it's been established that they cheated, but if so, simply removing prize money makes absolutely no sense what so ever. That pretty much means that a team will benefit from cheating, since cheating might mean winning a game and thus earning more money than they otherwise would have. It becomes a cost-benefit analyses, which surely isn't what anybody would want.

I don't think that the video taken from that far is conclusive enough. And if Starix knew Kuben's position, why did he and Edward lose a 2v1 against Kuben? And they lost nuke anyway. Having said that, shame on ceh9 if he did ghost. I don't think the rest of the players in Na'Vi need help from ghosting, but it is possible that ceh9 ghosted in the first map as well. A pro really shouldn't be doing this kind of thing. I would however repeat, the video is not very conclusive for me.

yes you should get appropriate punishment like in football when some defender makes a foul but the striker scores nevertheless then you don't give any punishment to the defender and the referee should approve the goal. ceh9 might have ghosted but they ended up losing the map, replaying that map would be useful because again won.

At least the frod ghosting video you can HEAR frod say something. This video is a joke and terrible quality. You see ceh9 stare at edward's monitor almost the entire time and then turn his head for a couple seconds. They still lose the round so clearly he wasn't very helpful with his "ghosting". Butthurt Polish fans is what this looks like.

Everybody has already come to a conclusion, and mostly it's not based on what is clear from the video. Many people here hate ceh9 for his trash-taking, and I think that is why they are all jumping on the bandwagon to ridicule him. For me, the video was inconclusive as you can't hear anything. ceh9 is my least favourite player in Na'Vi, and it is very much possible that he actually ghosted. But the evidence is a joke frankly. That would be extra nice. But really, it doesn't have to happen. I just wish these organizers would be smart when they set up the stage. Ghosting is why we have to use noise cancelling headsets. What's the point if you aren't going to go all the way and design a smart stage?

LoL! So many braindead Na'Vi fanboys trying to defend their beloved team. Well guess what? ceh9 and Na'Vi as a whole are a bunch of immature dicks who don't deserve any respect as they don't respect the other teams themselves. Their history is full of innapropriate behaviour so this is just natural for them to do. The admins are obviously biased because they're russians and they even laughed at TaZ trying to accuse Na'Vi for ghosting. How will you defend this?
