Na´Vi skip WCG 2011

Last year's defending champions Natus Vincere have been forced to skip World Cyber Games 2011.

The Ukrainian powerhouse's attendance had been in question ever since the team failed to win a spot in WCG Ukraine for the WCG grand final to be held in Busan, South Korea on December 8-11.

It had been rumoured they would still be able to attend due to being the reigning champions but according to a statement from the organization's CEO, Alexander "ZeroGravity" Kokhanovskyy, it will no longer be possible:

"On Monday, November 21st, I contacted WCG organizing committee to settle the details of our trip to Busan, South Korea. That time I was very surprized to know noone was waiting for us there. It looks like everything was planned 15 days prior the event and we can understand the organizers. But I still do not understand why noone contacted us to finalize the deadline for event participation." - Kokhanovskyy stated on the team's website.

You will however see Natus Vincere in action this week at MSI Beat It which will be held on November 25-26 at DreamHack Winter 2011 in Jönköping, Sweden where they have been placed in group C with the likes of fnatic and Moscow Five.

Yeah, but prize money is just a little bit of the organization's revenue. They get more money by going to events and promoting their sponsors, than they get from actually winning tours.

yeah but it costs like 15000 Euro or some thing to buy your way in to WCG :/ I dont rember the exact sum but I remeber that Lions did it last year and they had to pay a really really large sum. And further more WCG don't allow the teams to show there sponsors so I dont think the organizations earn so much money from there sponsors from there :(

Kinda sad but expected after they signed up for the DH BYOC. Money is what keeps a team alive and healthy. NaVi had unlimited support for over 2 years. They used to skip every small tournament before to study the rivalry and did great mainly because of that. Now NaVi is facing the same scene as teams like Lions, ESC, DTS, Anexis, eSahara, WinFakt, mouz etc. They need to play where they can to either succeed or to do good for their sponsors and fans

they didnt cancel anything u moron, they didnt get invited... "On Monday, November 21st, I contacted WCG organizing committee to settle the details of our trip to Busan, South Korea. That time I was very surprized to know noone was waiting for us there." why would he be surprised to find out no1 was waiting for navi if they had gotten an invite? if they had gotten an invite people would be setting up the deatils on how they would be getting there and what hotel they would be staying at...but no1 did.....BC THEY WERENT INVITED.....learn to read.

either way the problem was not in an invitation... kerchnet who got the 2nd place in the ua wcg qualifiers are not going since they cannot raise enough funds for the trip, which basically means that Na`Vi has a spot.. but yet decided not to go. nothing really forced them to skip except for money may be..

or the fact that they called wcg and no1 at the organization had even a thought of them going to the tourney...which means........wait for it......the organization didnt and wasnt planning on inviting them.....otherwise they would have called them or emailed them and said "hey u guys can come play in the tourney to defend ur title...." but they didnt do that bc they werent invited...
