Strong names sign up for CPH Games

The first signups for Copenhagen Games 2012 have ticked in, already seeing last year's champions ESC Gaming, as well as the runner-up SK Gaming on the list.

Copenhagen Games opened the signups for the 2012 event at the end of January, now sixteen days later we see strong names already signed up. A total of nine teams have so far made it on to participants list, those teams are:

Lastarget	Angelsole, iXONN, sidious, tr1p, nightshade
NOM-Gaming	h1Noy, rishoN, infront, syn, spooky
Revenge	LipsioN, maxlol, dolkenn, vetic, dnb
semXorah	bitten, felippe, lkn, PKL, facecaat
SK Gaming	GeT_RiGhT, trace, f0rest, face, RobbaN
Alternate	Troubley, approx, Roman R., Kapio, Tixo
WinFakt	aslak, lurppis, BASiC, H^N, allu
zNation	wAke, AERO, plutohd, payneb, liTTle

None of the teams have paid the entrance fee as of yet, meaning they are not confirmed to be participating. Teams wanting to participate should head over to the Copenhagen Games website in order to sign up.

The prize purse for the event is still to be announced, but as previously written, it is expected to be in the region of last year's €20,000 purse.

Copenhagen Games 2012 will run April 4-8 at Øksnehallen in the center of Copenhagen and this year the event is once again financially supported by the city of Copenhagen.

Just curious here: How much does the history of being certain of receiving prize money influence the choice of event? I would chose india over cph any day of the week, but i don't know how I would react when having the opportunity of actually getting my prize or maybe getting it :)

of course it influences it and i know cph games has a perfect track record, but i have asked my buddy in ATE for info on the indian event and will go by his word once he finds something out. even known events like wsvg haven't paid us for some events ($7,5k for wsvg london) so a big name isn't always guarantee for payment. on the other hand, no one thought gamegune mexico would pay and skipped it, but we received our $18k from it.

Probably some teams prefer going to an event where prizes have always been payed. With the troubles of organizers paying their prizes a year after their event or never, certainty must be quite a pursuader. Especially as some are predicting the downfall of Counter-Strike 1.6 in a near future - not saying it will happen with certainty, just saying that rumours are flying about.

20.000 Euros vs 40.000 Dollars. Let's wait for the prize distribution. If the tournament organisers split the prize money like IEM does, the first place in India would probably win the same prize money like the first place in CHP ;) The trip doesn't matter for the players, because for that they have big organisations which pay the trip for them. People might realise that someday. It's still bad to see two CS tournaments at the same weekend. It's a shame tbh. As a player i would also go to India, because its the first internationalen CS tournament in India ;) Anyways, let's hope for a good tournament/tournaments
