lurppis trashes CS:GO in interview

WinFakt captain and HLTV.org contributor Tomi "lurppis" Kovanen trashes CS:GO in an interview with PC Gamer.

The former Evil Geniuses player has been seen posting on the Valve forums about the upcoming sequel, saying "[CS:GO] is not fun. It's a terrible game right now, and it's not by any means fun."

In an interview with pcgamer.com, Kovanen put his thoughts into words, pointing out a lot of details he feels makes the game unfit for competitive play and even claiming that Valve is lying.

Concerning updated versions of the maps featured in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, the Finnish talent expressed his dissatisfaction about de_train and de_nuke in particular.

"de_train is the worst with two towers, the bomb train in the middle of outside, oversized trains, ladders on the sides of trains, most of trains removed in the inner site, et cetera.

de_nuke has a lot of its best parts removed without backstairs to lower and back bombsite and short hall in lower. It all feels like they just really want to handicap the game by making it easier," he told PC Gamer.

lurppis trashes CS:GO

A recurring word from people who have been entered into the beta phase of the game's development is recoil. The vast majority is not satisfied, nor is Kovanen.

"It's really hard to control (if even possible) and it feels like you could never spray at a spot, turn 90 degrees and still be accurate at another guy. You're basically stuck one-bulleting people or going for mindless sprays which might result in two people emptying their clips at one another with both people surviving.

The bullet tracers are also really annoying and I don’t understand why they're even in the game, It seems like another effect to make it more console-like; it’s just something more that will get in the way of seeing things clearly," he continued.

However, caster Jimmy Whisenhunt, who pcgamer.com cite as a former professional – a man who never made the Invite divisions of Cyberathlete Amateur League or ESEA – believes that screen movement is to blame, not the weapon recoil.

Kovanen is not the only professional player to have expressed his displeasure with the sequel. Among others are Arseny "ceh9" Trynozhenko and Sergey "starix" Ischuk of Natus Vincere and ESC Gaming aces Jakub 'kuben' Gurczynski and Filip "Neo" Kubski.

In an attempt to convince the public that Valve are listening to the community and professional players' feedback, the video game development company has blogged about their work and launched a series of 'Meet the Pros' videos.

Kovanen is not thoroughly convinced. In reaction to some of the comments posted in the PC Gamer article, and adding some more interesting information in the process, the Finland resident states that right now Valve is not listening to CS 1.6 professionals, so either they need to start listening or to stop lying to the public.

One more thing: Valve doesn't certainly owe me anything. I have never paid for their products, and I have made a living through one for the past seven+ years. If Valve wants to make CS:GO bad it's not a big loss for me as I don't plan on playing all my life regardless.

What is my problem then? They CLAIM to listen to CS 1.6 pros to make a good game to get the younger kids to buy it in hopes of being good, and that is a 110% lie. That is my problem. Either listen to us, or stop lying to the public.

The sad thing is, the game will sell much more than it deserves, I suspect. If the name of this game would have been "Global Offensive", and only that. It would've been a different story. I fear the name "Counter-Strike: GO" is going to sell itself to some extent in this matter.

That is a factor, but just the name won't get it sales, especially when the CoD fanboys will say "CS:GO? what is that? A game for pussies? COME PLAY A REAL GAME LIKE COD!" I hope the ratings and reviews for the games are actually honest and "real" since many of today's games have cheated scores (such as CoD:MW3)

I really liked these comments: "Most people who claim to be a CS 1.6 Pro today are hipsters, and will only go for non-mainstream games." "Sounds like he is just bitching to me, I never felt lighter and more in control of my character then in CS:GO" "So basically, he's just complaining that the map layouts are different so he has to learn new strategies." "So, basicly from what this "pro" gamer is saying. CS:GO is going to be bad for esports because it requires you to think at what you are shooting before you shoot and he cant spray a gun in a direction to get the kill because in real life guns apparently don't have recoil? This is one more reason why "pro" gamers in the past decade are a joke. Most of them can't win a standard round match in a pub unless they have all the variability taken out of the game and they follow a very specific routine that requires no real skill other than than getting to the right place at the right time and waiting. Make this noob work for his money. Its not a sport if it doesn't require work anyways." These people are so fucking clueless. :p

Just joking, the alpha version was really bad in terms of recoil (the tweet above shows that), they have recently reduced the recoil but it's still random after the 3/4th shot. Until now they have been reluctant to accept the community's feedback, so if this continues like this, the game won't change that much until it's released.

Not agreed. everything is because of money. Professional players will play any game for it. Sad. Sponsors will just say "sponsorship and csgo or cs 1.6. Make your decision"

LOL, you know why 1.6 is so amazing? It's because its so easy (graphics and gameplay as well). So I would say that CS is more about skill than any other similar game, such as CoD or BF. CoD is more about who sees whom first and with new game there are always graphics improvement which decrease the amount of skill needed.

that's right, but the reason is that they want to stay at top, so they have to make new games or maybe just create competition for CoD or other games ;)

The CS community is pathetic nowadays. Seriously, quit whining, most of you didn't even play the CS GO beta. The 1.6 scene is dying and IS ridiculous compared to SC2/MOBA scenes. We have to move on and Valve is trying to make a decent game, if you guys would give proper feedback to actually make CS GO better instead of trolling, it could be a great competitive game. But the CS community is just a bunch of douches claiming "omfg im so 1337 ill stay on 1.6 forever lulz".

well consider one thing. 1.6 is so successful because its easy made (graphics), so its more about skill than about who sees whom first (such as in newer CoDs) and with every new game there are always graphics improvement and that is why I see this pointless, because it will be easier to be good. Well it's your opinion and I don't take it away from you. Just think about it.

Agreed, but if they plan to sell it to console kids and newcomers to the franchise ( because yeah, the community has to get bigger if we want a really huge scene ), they can't just make it as ugly as 1.6 or source... And I think there will always be some hi-fps cfg around on the internet.

lurppis says: 01:35pm March 14 2012 Clearly PC Gamer wasn't exactly the right place to talk about this issues since everyone here seems to be (based on comments above) the type of gamer who will purchase any new game with ok graphics and play about 20 different games a week. The fact that so many people talk about me "not having accepted the graphical update to CS:S" and "not accepting change" is pretty funny. CS 1.6 was for close to ten years the most popular eSports title and it certainly wasn't my choice to stick to CS 1.6 instead of the shitty newer version (CS:S), it was the entire community's. CS 1.6 is a far superior game than CS:S and CS:GO, that is proven by its player numbers still in 2012. No one in the competitive scene changed, because the game wasn't good enough. As far as change goes, I already know I won't be playing any version of CS next year, let alone CS:GO regardless of how the game turns out, which completely eliminates that aspect from my opinion. I have nothing to fear because I know if I really wanted to (which I don't), I would find a way to be one of the better players in CS:GO as well, just like I did with the most popular FPS game of all time. To whoever questioned my knowledge in CS, it'd be very hard to find anyone more experienced than me in the game. The game is in the Beta, but but it has been since August when my friend (who is one of the best CS:S players in Europe) got flown to Seattle, and he's said there's barely been any improvements, too. Clearly Valve won't just fix it because it's beta - they don't know how to do it, and they never did it with CS:S either. And revoke my CS:GO access? You guys are turning childish enough that it's actually funny. I wouldn't miss it so that wouldn't exactly hurt me, but at the same time I could get a new key at any second with just a message. PS. Of course there are no NDAs, it's just a beta of a video game. Grow up.

Listening to pro players is just marketing I bet on the box it will have a quote by a pro player saying "its the best CS to date". For any company who wants growth every year forever they have to sell out simple as that, the stupidest game in the world is the most popular game in the world right now (CoD) why? because most people are dumb, as lurrpis explained recoil is uncontrollable why? because it puts the best players at noob level since theres nothing to master everyone can play easy if RECOIL WAS LIKE 1.6 the noob would get 1 bulleted every round and just say "fuck this game back to CoD" because that's todays attention span of people. Valve is a business they will continue you try sell this as a competitive game for all its proven by past proffesional counter strike players or what ever it takes to have GROWTH EG: If they made 1billion last year they don't want to make $9999999 million dollars this year because that would be a failure so they are aiming for growth and to get there is to appeal to the masses not to mention there are multi billionares investing into the gaming industry the same people that have raped the music and movie industry the same people who killed your favorite artist like Eminem Metallica Jay Z and so on. Its now here in the gaming industry where big corporations can manipulate and further profit from idiots. its not just CS im sure a lot of here have played WoW or any Blizzard game Blizzard sold out look at WoW these days look at Starcraft NO LAN? all because they dont want 0.05% of people to pirate the game. Im sad to say but there will never be a CS1.6 with better graphics by valve they know what we want but money is better, I hope one day an independent gaming company will see a big business penitential in terms of INDEPENDENT COMPANIES and try make a CS1.6 update it doesn't have to be CT vs T but one day I hope someone does it. Rant over.

This comment makes so much sense... and if you think about it, even with cs 1.6 valve fucked it up quite badly with a lot of stupid updates through the years... who doesn't remember the months where the headshot icon was some kind of skull with an arrow or something through it's head... Valve never REALLY did anything good for Counter Strike, and it seems that the days where people make a game for the cheer fun of it, is over... Today it really is all about sales & graphics(which is just sales for nvidia and amd...) The actual spirit of games seems to be gone, skyrim, bf3 and even SCII is just games that gets boring within weeks, while i actually still play a lot of Warcraft III, Counter Strike 1.6, Age Of Empires and the like. Those are the games that you enjoy, not because of graphics but because of the soul that the game has, i find these things lacking in most, if not all, modern games.

There's a funny difference between the HLTV comments and the PCGAMER comments. "what? a seasoned cs 1.6 player doesnt like the design of a new game? does a bear **** in the woods?" "Exactly my thoughts. Most people who claim to be a CS 1.6 Pro today are hipsters, and will only go for non-mainstream games." pcgamer.com/2012/03/13/pro-counter-strik..

The more I read about CS:GO the less positive I feel... It appears as if Valve went too far in the wrong direction to start with, and now I doubt they are willing to make all the massive changes needed for the game to be a real success. Sure they might know how to make a nice casual fps-game, but that's not what has made 1.6 a hit. It's the fact that you can play it competitively. Someone at Valve should give carn a phonecall. He'll know what to do...

im so baffled with the fact that NO ONE seem to realise (or being able to?) the potential in replicating a game like counter-strike 1.6 and even more so that valve themselves doesnt seem to either wanting to do it or being able to. i mean, seriously, if you are a big ass game studio (like valve), HOW CAN YOU NOT take this opportunity of repeating history all over? the game has slowly been dying for years, just make a follow-up to it already. dont they realise how much money could be made from it? i just dont get it, if i were the ceo of a major game studio i would put all my resources into creating a new counter-strike. an fps game with all the important basics from CS but still a bit different, so that it feels fresh and not just like a bad and straight up copied version. it would have the same mechanics and gameplay fundamentals as CS but with a (small) twist of some sort. like, how hard could it be at this point? i think basically everyone in the 1.6 scene today would try out a game like that. if blizzard can do it with starcraft, why cant valve do it with counter-strike? sorry for the rant, hopefully someone can understand what i just wrote :c

Because both engines differ immensely, so therefore it is 100% impossible to replicate 1.6. How hard can it be, are you telling me you can do the same game over and over again, and keep repackaging it as the same thing?

hmm? im not talking about a 100% replicated version of counter-strike. im just talking about taking the same concept and doing it at least almost as good as the current version. just like SC:BW -> SC2. the same could be done for CS 1.6. sure the gameplay will change no matter what since you wont do it on the same engine, but i dont see why you cant do it good enough for people to switch over. also, the same has been done for dota and not only with 1 new version but 3 (HoN, LoL, Dota2) with all of those games having a scene (with at least LoL and Dota2 having a really healthy scene with lots of tournaments and that's even when Dota2 is in beta still...) so why couldnt Valve or any other game studio with the resources do the same with CS 1.6?

HoN and LoL didn't have a game first off that made it so immense. Counter Strike was born from a mod, and gradually got better. CS1.6 has still got many bugs in it today, CS then went into CS:CZ and then CS:S. The problem here is the way the FPS titles have changed since CS was first brought out. FPS titles back in those days were based primarily on skill, and gameplay, nowadays it's a mixture of everything, hence why Call Of Duty and recently Battlefield have become massively popular with Casual Gamers, let us not forget how much both titles took (Just over a $1billion) and that is a lot of money for a game, which eSports doesn't recognise. What a lot of us forget is the fact that CS is a game for hardcore gamers, I imagine what Valve would like to do is shed a bit of the hardcore to bring in new blood, which we all recognise is what is needed for the CS Franchise to survive. On your point about Valve, they are actually an incredibly small studio compared to studio's like Blizzard, and Dice, etc etc, they've had to partner up with Hidden Path, which let's also be frank here, had very little knowledge of FPS title building before they were drafted in to help fix CSS (which to be honest they have done a fantastic job with that). My point is the fact that people are quick to call the game shit, and not be supportive of the game, which is one of the very first reasons why Valve backed away from 1.6 a long time ago. If people constructively criticised the game, and perhaps showed the aspects of the game which they want changing in a reasonable manner, (like adults basically), I would imagine Valve would be more receptive to the ideas brought forward.

DotA was also born from a mod that gradually got better. my whole point was that they SHOULDNT change the game in a way to make it more casual. that is certainly not the way to make it an e-sports title for a decade forward. as i said, look at CS 1.6, it's somehow still alive just because of the immense support the community is showing for the type of game it is. it's not casual, it requires tons of skill to master and that's the way to go if you want it to become not only a massively played gamed but also a praised one that can survive for more than a couple of years. unlike the CoD games that people play for giggles and not to compete with yourself and others. im ranting again but to clearify it: take all the good aspects from cs 1.6 and make a new version out of that. trust me, it would be the start of a new era. like, how much hasn't valve earned on 1.6 since its release? a casual game will give them money now, while a major e-sports title will give them money for a whole decade. they claim they want to create a next generation e-sports title, but they really doesnt seem to have a clue on how to reach that goal in reality. unless they REALLY start to take in the feedback they are receiving and making some drastic changes to the game, im 100% certain that CS:GO will just be another CS:S, it probably wont even reach that status.

"a casual game will give them money now, while a major e-sports title will give them money for a whole decade." Unfortunately that is not true. Why, well 1.6 and Source are not selling to new customers anymore, they don't really attract new players, and if you think they do then you would be greatly mistaken. "they claim they want to create a next generation e-sports title, but they really doesnt seem to have a clue on how to reach that goal in reality. unless they REALLY start to take in the feedback they are receiving and making some drastic changes to the game, im 100% certain that CS:GO will just be another CS:S, it probably wont even reach that status." The fact that lurppiss seems to think they aern't listening is incredibly ignorant. Their latest updates were based on the feedback they recieved both from pro's and other players. "Sound - Radically reduced dsp on 3rd person footsteps to address directionality problems. - Remixed ladder footsteps to prevent players thinking someone was right next to them when they weren't. - Decreased weapon shot volumes relative to footsteps. This should cause one to increase their volume locally to the level they are used to playing, thereby loudening footsteps in the mix. - Reduced number of dynamic audio channels, thereby increasing the number of static ones. This is to counter the overrunning of static audio channels and dropping sounds. - Updated win round music. - Remixed deathcam music. - Added round start and team auto select countdown beeps. - Adjusted soundscapes on most maps. Game - Edited existing knife hit wall/world to be more universal for all surfaces. Added three more variations. - Lowered AK47 position to match m4. - Fixed crouch/jump-crouch seeing through the ceiling. - Casual mode limit changed from 30 minutes to 10 rounds. - Fixed exagerated neck hitbox that made headshots much easier. - Refined most hitboxes to better match player geometry. - Fixed one-way smoke grenades. " Or is that just because they thought that would be better for the game?

so tired and not gonna read ur whole post but the bugs in it today you were talking about are not a BAD THING, crouch hop, bunnyjumping etc.. they're part of the gameplay which makes it so unique and brilliant. flashing while defusing, getting doors stuck or closed immediately(on nuke) etc.. fuck i love those things, small tricks you can master and make usage of.

No they were bugs of the game, they became part of the gameplay because they didn't get fixed and the community learnt to accept that.

Some people need to realise that Counter Strike Global Offensive is a work in progress. My god folks, have you forgotten it's a beta, or are we all being incredibly naive and think Valve can whip 1.6 up in a flash of an eye? Let's think with our heads here, not with stupidity. People need to stop thinking like it SHOULD be 1.6 and start embracing something a little different, because 1.6 cannot be repeated, and anyone who seems to remotely think that needs clueing up.

it's in beta yes, no one is saying that it has to be good now. what people (lurppis and others) are saying though is that it will be a huge problem if valve doesnt start listening to the people (especially the pro players) giving them feedback, since they (valve) clearly doesnt know how to make it work as a major esports title. every beta is centered around feedback. after all it's the people who are going to buy and play the game, so it's preeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetty important that they like it, dont you think?

So, you saying in the private section of the forums, Valve aern't listening to you? Despite the latest string of changes suggesting exactly the opposite (the fact that they are listening to feedback). You calling them out doesn't really help does it, why haven't you used the private section of the forums to vent your dismay? You use an interview to actually vent your dismay... let's "motivate them to listen to us now by using PR against them", slick move.

I made a thread where I asked them to at least post if they do "listen" to us on 1st of January (once again, you should read before posting). Only replies it has received in 75 days are other concerned players asking the same. Two days ago a CS:S pro posted this in the forum, along with a giant list of bug fixes for Valve: "First of all I am starting to wonder why dont you guys(the developers) never reply/discuss the changes we suggest. I think this is one of the biggest problems right now. Its starting to look like you are making the changes you like and ignoring the rest. And I can see a lot of players giving up hope for CSGO because of this. This really isnt the way to make a competitive CS out of CSGO." His list includes a glitch that makes Glock do more damage through an armor than a Deagle that was posted in the forum in *NOVEMBER* and Valve still hasn't fixed it. Why? It's just one number missing in a text file that does it, but clearly they aren't even reading the forums or they would have fixed that MONTHS ago.

Jesus christ, some of the comments from casual players really drive home the reason why Valve doesn't care what professional players think. CS:GO's primary audience is 1) convinced that 1.6 professionals are insecure monopolists who're just afraid they won't have it easy anymore, and 2) they're jealous as hell, salivating at the idea that the differences between the two games will somehow level the playing field. What they don't realise is that 1) CS 1.6 is still evolving every day and the current pros have to work extremely hard to stay on top from tournament to tournament, and 2) overall game knowledge and big match experience will propel competitive 1.6 players into the lead regardless of how much they dislike the game or how bad the recoil is. The whole "change for whatever reason is good LOL!!!" argument is one huge mouthful of cock. Incremental improvements are good. Reinventing the fucking wheel is bad. These assholes want to throw away all the infrastructure, the community and - most importantly - the hard-won knowledge of what makes a good competitive title, things that have taken more than a decade of painstaking work to establish. One last rant about the attitudes of developers these days: past a certain point, graphics do not matter for esports. In fact, they actively hinder the competitive experience by obscuring vision and excessively slowing down the pace of play. There's a reason we don't play Cricket in a fucking jungle, despite the fact that it would make the whole thing look a lot prettier. What stands out in conventional sports? The players. The ball. That's it. I'm sure 1.6 could still be improved, but any changes should be like modern advancements in tennis racquet technology, not like suddenly introducing the use of feet. The core of the game works. We know this. Let's just keep supporting IEM, ESWC, Dreamhack, etc with high viewer numbers, and let CS:GO die a quiet death on its own. Let Valve develop new games for the casual players. We don't need them.

This is actually quite well written, even though i still "hope" that Valve will make it a great game, your points on changes and that is in essence how i feel. to me, they can put in all the eye candy they want, as long as it doesn't hinder the game from being competitive, which of course means that it must require skills to master it.

HAHAHAH. promod is just like cs source, and cs:go will be the same. as long as they use the source engine where people walk around like some flying zombies it's never gonna work. and neither when they're not making it possible to hax, spray and to actually get a hitbox worth learning. css sooooooo fail, and this will be too. always thinking about graphics, not gameplay, stupid valve. this is not what the players with knowledge wants, only kids who thinks graphics are all.

that's so true what lurppis said about how they arent listening, its just one big marketing grab from them to get the game out there and act like they are. I wont be buying this game unless major changes are made, and others should do the same, i think valve has got it in their head that anyone who plays CSS or 1.6 will automatically buy the game just because its a new counter-strike thus they dont feel the need to make anything appropriate for those players and are merely just adding content that will get people who have never played the game interested like this arsenal mode etc.

agree with ya tomi, my main concern about this game is that i dont understand why they change the classic maps ,adding or changing stuff on those maps makes no sens to me , they should just leave those maps and make new ones instead of turning them into the ultimate pub maps. so Valve is supposed to invest millions into a new game engine, and leave the maps as bare bones as 1.6? Yeah right. I agree that excessive clutter is unnecessary but its not like the new maps are on the level of call of duty as far as clutter is concerned. I know I would have fun learning new angles and new changes to the game, theres no reason why the games base maps cant be changed and have it be better

What i think he means is, that they shouldn't simplify maps in a way that makes it "easier" to play, obviously it will need a makeover, but take dust2 in either source or go, the stairs/catwalk area is STRIPPED of all places to hide/dodge flashes or recover from a flash without getting shot by rushing enemies. That isn't needed, but of course they have to re-create the maps on the new engine.

ok I see his point but there is zero reason who 1.6 movement should be in this new game, it's admittedly exploitative, and being the best player shouldnt have to revolve around how well you can fuck up your hitboxes by spamming keys. he hasnt really done his research regardless whether i agree with him or not. For one, they removed the stairs on nuke because of data they gathered, not because they wanted the game to be easier. Look at it from their perspective, little to no one used the back stairs during testing, so they removed them. Perfectly logical from their stand point, thats not to say I agree with them. Also I agree with everything lurppis said about train except that I like the idea of a second tower, I mean why the hell not?

"Look at it from their perspective, little to no one used the back stairs during testing, so they removed them. Perfectly logical from their stand point, thats not to say I agree with them." Based on what data was this done? Their CS:GO testing? Not a single proper competitive game has been played in the game if one doesn't count the plantronics thing as competitive so if they actually make decisions based on their CS:GO data, it just shows a worrying lack of understanding from Valve's part. If we use the back stairs as an example, sure noone really uses them as the "core" part of their strats in 1.6, but they provide an interesting dynamic for rotating ct's either from lower to come and cover outside from the back or for ct's to rotate to lower in case of a bomb plant. In addition they provide a way for T's to sometimes sneak in to lower through the window without anyone even realizing it. Even if they aren't used every round, removing the backstairs takes away meaningful opportunities from teams.

A fun fact is that cspromod actually have made so many improvements over the last couple of months. It actually feels a lot like 1.6 now, event tho the maps is a bit wierd. they fixed the movement, and the recoil is quite nice. Definately worth a try if you havent allready. Sad they were 3-4 years too long in development.

By reading comments from the original website, The users bashing up lurpiss for his stupidity and what not were casual gamers who just play after work . They want to get good on the game in 1 week, and the game on which they get good on in so less time becomes their favorite. These are the people who will spend money every month buying new games , playing it for a month then buying more new games the next month. We hardcore gamers doesn't provide valve with a revenue model hence it started to overlook us. But atleast some transparency should have been shown, why ask for pro advices when valve is very clear from the start to make CS.GO targeted towards casual gamers.

cs 1.6 people said that cs source will never get many players and success, when it came out and even now there is like 10 time more players in cs source than in 1.6. cs:go may be call of duty kind of game, but im sure it will success also also you can control recoil&spray in cs:go, it's just different than in 1.6, if you try with your 1.6 style to control recoil/spray - of cource it then wont work out. With time you will learn the recoil&spray in new game also

What the fuck are you talking about? Theres thousands of less people that plays CS:S and it never went above 1.6? It never had even close as many prizes as 1.6, it never had the same amount of success, and there are literally 50.000 more people watching CS 1.6 finals than Source finals. If not more. I don't know where you got that information from. Stats don't lie: i39.tinypic.com/jfg1gl.png 13 year old game in top of every game. Even huge names such as Skyrim, DotA 2, Call of Duty. And it has always been like that.

the right developers for a "new" cs are competitive gamers adopting programming. e.g. -> after playing someone's creation, you HAVE to figure out the programming aspect to make a BETTER creation. remember CS was an ADD ON by someone within the community (some asian kid forgot his name). -- that's why it's great. cs:go is comp sci majors dabbling in creating an FPS. -- that's why it's bad. as soon as valve picked up the game it was tainted by their ideas, programming, and need for tha mothafuckin' dollar bill. "hey let's remove all the quirks in 1.6 which make it great... better? yea! ok ok.. now let's reinvent the wheel by following the lead of mw3/bf3 and add molotovs and sleek huds/guis! yea!!"

what's with this long discussion. just take a look at the new map valve so proudly release, de_lake. u really can tell how little valve knows about competitive cs. what the fuck. tat map looks like a rip out of COD:MW. if its a map for battlefield 3 or COD i am sure it will be a lovely map because that is how COD or BF3 is meant to be played for multi players. that is THEIR GAMEPLAY. IT IS NOT CS GAMEPLAY. only serious competitive players will understand not casual pub players who just camps in public servers and thinks they know all about cs. seriously is there a need to change? DOTA2 came out as an improvement of graphics from DOTA and it is hugely popular. SC2 came out as a huge improvement of graphics from SC and it is hugely popular. there are so many tournaments with huge money involved for the above 2 games. what the fuck is valve thinking of? arsenal mode?! they are better off following CS:O and make ppl earn points to buy a fucking ak for 30 days. valve should considering hirely REAL retired pros to their team. carn, pita, spawn, heaton just to name a few.

arsenal mode and de_lake aren't for the competitive side of the game... no one forces you to play a CW on a GunGame server in 1.6 neither. Besides that i agree with you.. The problem with is that cs go is based on the SOURCE engine and cs 1.6 is based on the HALF-LIFE Engine (Quake engine licensed from id Software with a 70% rewritten code). so you get it now Quake engine / Source engine = not same gameplay.... but still cs go as it is now is crap...

I would love to think about CS:GO as some hltv resident thought (who posted blog here few months ago...) To the point: I want to look on it like this CS:GO is for CS:S like CS:CZ is for CS1.6 Just a shit on dying engine, but in the same time it's announcing something new. And I think that the real (worth thinking of) game which will be for next decade is CS2.0, but after this couple of months it's only a dream I supposed :(

They just have to face the fact that its almost impossible to recreate the feeling of cs 1.6.. There is no other fps game that has the feel of interconnectedness that 1.6 has.

No other game is similar to CS 1.6. She is simple and complicated simultaneously, and you need to be fast to be good at it. That's why 1.6 is unique. Valve is trying to create more realistic game, because every other company is making more and more realistic games like CoD,Crysis and etc. CS 1.6 needs to be spread all over the world, rather than trying to improve it. CS 1.6 > CS:GO,Source. THE END
