cArn appointed CGO of fnatic
Retired professional and former captain Patrik "cArn" Sättermon has been appointed Chief Gaming Officer of fnatic.
Sättermon, 26, made the surprising announcement of his retirement in a video interview on fnatic's website just days before his team would compete in the Intel Extreme Masters 6 World Championship.
He will now step into a management role in the ranks of fnatic, namely as the organization's Chief Gaming Officer. Speaking on the transition, fnatic founder Sam Mathews said the following:
"As CGO Patrik will have the overall responsibility of managing the players and squads that make up Fnatic, that means he will decide which squads we go after, he will oversee and manage all team leaders for the respective games and make sure we have players and squads that represent the Fnatic colours in the best possible light.
On top of this he will work with our partners, work with our content team and strategize with the management team on how best to expand Fnatic and new initiatives within e-sports."
Sättermon has already been given a taste of the executive position, as the successful captain recently visited Seoul, South Korea, and oversaw the opening of fnatic's gaming house.
On a slightly different note, the announcement also reveals that fnatic will unveil Sättermon's successor and the team's new fifth player on Sunday at 18:00 CET.
