ASUS Open 2012 announced

ASUS Open has announced its structure for the 2012 season which features six separate qualifiers, three invite slots and will culminate in the final battle of the year event with 20-24 teams competing for over 11,000€ in prizes.

The season will kick off with ASUS Spring Cup online in April ~2,300€ and two final battle of the year spots up for grabs, followed up by an ASUS CS non pro LAN tournament in the same month in Moscow with ~1,300€ and one spot as prizes.

Next up will be ASUS Summer Cup around July or August with ~1,200€ and two spots in prizes and ASUS Autumn Cup in October or November which will award no prize money, but two more paid spots with hotels and accommodation at the final battle of the year event.

Can ED1K's Moscow Five defend their championship this year?

Three spots will be given out via direct invites and an additional 8-12 will be awarded via Russian regional LAN qualifiers with paid trips and accommodation as prizes. Final two spots with paid travel expenses can be won in national ASUS qualifiers in Ukraine and Belarus.

This adds up to a total of 20-24 teams at the ASUS Open Final battle of the Year event with over 11,000€ in prizes. The tournament will be held at CyberSports ARENA in Kiev in November.

More information including detailed prize distribution for many of the events can be found here. Registration is already open and the first event will begin on April 23. Natus Vincere has already announced their plans to participate.

MSI Beat It Russia was a separate event, this is another ASUS tournament which has been running in Spring, Summer, Autum and Winter events for over five years. Last year's Final Battle of the Year was won by Moscow Five over KerchNet in the grand final.

there's three invite slots but i assume they will go to top teams. there are online qualifiers for any nation to participate in.

no idea, last year's earlier asus events weren't tied to to final battle of the year in any way, they just called the last asus that. this is a whole new system.

never said it was, but only cis countries have their own qualifiers, not sure why baltic would be any different from say finland, sweden or usa. if anything, i would much rather host a qualifier in a country like sweden than the baltics.

All teams can play. But the group stage and all information is on russian language, i think that you will have some problems whith russian language. Sorry for bad engl :o
