xFRAGCup CJM groups announced

The groups have been announced for xfunction Fraglider Cup by CJM which will take place on the weekend in Porto, Portugal with over 4,000€ in prizes.

Although we earlier reported of the tournament's odd format in group stage, the organizers have once again changed their mind and will now host six groups with the first five featuring four, and the last one featuring five teams.

Playoffs will be held in a best-of-three single elimination format. Top two teams will advance from groups A to E, while group F will see three teams advance to playoffs.

On top of that, the three teams that had the best round difference and placed third in groups A-E will also go through to the playoffs in order to fill the sixteen team bracket.

catastrophical tournament format, i wonder who came up with the whole some teams advance based on round difference and more teams advance from one group (which coincidentally has the best local team) than the others?

It's actually 16. 10 from the groups of 4 teams (which is quite normal nowadays..) + 3 from Group F which has a group of 5 and would be totally unfair to only go through 2 teams, which makes it 13 + the 3 best 3rd places, according to their points/RD. It's quite a usually thing these days, unless if things had changed in the past 2 months.

i have never seen anything like that, normally it would be 8 groups of 4 with top2 advancing. i have never seen a tournament (and i've been around for a long time by now) that used anything similar; not anything to only let some 3rd place teams in by rounds, or one where a group had more slots because it had more teams... many events have extra teams in groups, but they still don't get more spots.

Having 8 groups of 4 meant having 32 teams, which isn't exactly the case. You've got 25. I'm sure you have been in tournaments where the organization had tones of signup's and an unusual number to make the groups. That's exactly what's happening here. We couldn't just cut off and that's it lol. Also, and unfortunately, the Portuguese community have a slighty different mind concerning how the groups and how a tournament should be run, which, in an extreme professional way, is indeed wrong. Still, it's a tournament made for the Portuguese teams to have the opportunity to play against some of the best teams out there. We just couldn't shit on their faces and make things shitty for them. I see and understand your point, still, don't agree with it.

7 groups with 3 teams and 1 group with 4 teams. From each group 2 teams go to playoff. Was that so hard to make ?

just because it is a different method doesn't mean it is wrong. I personally like how some teams will have the chance to pass in third place as they will have the chance to play more and spectators will have the chance to view more games... I do not see what is wrong about that... Just like you presented alternative tournament structures that no one has seen before, the organizers of this event decided on something different as well.. Just because they didn't use the regular tournament structure method, or the structure ideas you presented recently doesn't mean you have to be so critical about their decision..

i don't think it makes any sense and that is my opinion on the subject, if you think it's cool then that's yours and i don't have a problem with that, but personally i think it's a terrible tournament format. i presented my formats with arguments, i'd be interested in hearing any possible arguments you could have for this one.

I think they went with what the European Football Championship Qualifier goes with, (two best 3rd placed teams advance to the playoffs). Its not something COMPLETELY new to the world. I think it makes sense.. I think you should wait and see how it turns out before criticizing the format so much.. Just like people should see how your ideas turn out before criticizing them.. As for not covering the tournament, that is up to you guys at HLTV.. This is a great site that has been ran for many years now and you guys know what the best tournaments are to cover.. I just think that, as a former player with great international reputation, you should be more careful about open criticism.. Its great that you show your opinion on the matter. However, your voice is not louder than any other person on this website just because of your reputation. Just because people dont agree with your opinion or do something different doesnt make them stupid or incompetent.

i already went over why you can't transfer formats of soccer over to cs in a different comment here so i won't revisit that. obviously in a perfect world we would cover every tournament fully around the world, but doing so online takes tons of work and we can only work so many hours in a day, plus we obviously don't have enough money to send a representative to every event around the work. them disagreeing doesn't make them stupid or incompetent, the way they voice their opinions with no real backing does at times ^^

this means that in every match every team will do their best, because even 3rd place might go to the next phase. And if you never saw something like that you dont watch football, the qualification for Euro and the World Cup works like that.

i don't watch soccer, you are correct. i've gone over this before in comments for my tournament formats article but let's say it again: goal difference makes a little sense in sports where they play on the same grounds for all games - at least it truly means something then. in counter-strike you play two different sides of the game on five (in this case) or seven maps, making round difference a terrible way to judge anything.

that just shows me how much of little kid that thinks he knows all, you are! Portugal used to be called Portucale, Condado Portucalense etc etc, that was hundreds of years ago, now, do u refer to our country has Portucale? no, u dont, languages evolve, people evolve, even if that was the first name of the sport, its called FOOTBALL SINCE THE XIX century!! now tell me, when American football was created/invented, wasnt it called FOOTBALL already in Europe?

i just pasted that to show other people do that too, in reality i couldn't care less what people think about it. i call american football "football" and soccer "soccer". i have no idea why anyone would care, that is my own personal preference. and because you seem to get hurt by the smallest things, here's the kicker: i think american football is a more enjoyable sport than soccer.

I grew up hearing soccer and not football. If you go to the USA and say football, they'll think of American football. If you go to Australia and say football they'll think of Australian football. It's only called football in Brittish English.

u grew up hearing what? please, dont act like a little retarded kid ffs! no one in Portugal ever heard that word, cmon!! ofc if u are in America or Australia, football for them is their sport, but not in EUROPE!! he's just a american wannabe, arrogant kid! tell me, who the hell, in Europe, refers to the sport as SOCCER? there are no leagues of soccer, no European championship of Soccer!!! so tell, me why on earth, would any european, refer to that sport as SOCCER? there would be no confusion since american football is not popular around here, ITS CALLED RUGBY, and its played without those pillows and helmets! Football was created in ENGLAND, the name comes either from the act of kicking the ball with ur foot or because it was played on foot, ergo FOOT/BALL! im not gonna continue to waste my time with this pointless discussion tbh

dude, you gotta realise that American English is not the exact same language as British English. In America, football simply doesn't refer to the same sport, and as far as I know, lurppis lived in America and has an American accent, it would actually be really odd if he said "soccer"...

yes, in America it doesnt! but 90% of people around here is EUROPEAN, as he is! every single country in Europe refer to that sport as football and he knows that, im fine that americans refer to football as soccer, but in here, Europe, its not correct, its not accurate and main point: HE'S NOT AMERICAN, he knows very well that in Europe, ITS CALLED FOOTBALL! please, what a show-off!

He's not American, and you're not British, are you? When you learn a language, aren't you free to choose which dialect you prefer? When you live in a country, the language becomes something automatical. Then I can't imagine him always being careful to use British words, when some of them do not even exist where he learnt English. I mean, just imagine lurppis, with his accent, using words like "bollocks". It wouldn't make sense

ur comparing things that cant be compared bro! there is no accent difficultys between saying football and soccer! cmon, ur argument is totally unrational! i can understand when he says apartment rather than flat, or cab instead of taxi, but for a european saying SOCCER instead of FOOTBALL is totally SHOW-OFF, its just a way to say "hey look at me, i lived in America for a couple of years, i speak the way they do, look at me, i even think that SOCCER is the correct word for the sport!" please man, if u think that was innocent...

You misunderstood my point. I'm not saying he couldn't say football, I meant that he really shouldn't. Having a typically American accent, using British words would make his English totally incoherent. Generally in Europe it is more common to hear British English, but it's not a rule, and as long as he's coherent, there's no reason why he shouldn't use true American English

You wrong man, here is South Africa we also call it soccer, i have a cousin from britain, he visited here for 2 gap years after finishing school, i speak to him frequintly and he still calls "Football" soccer, even though he has been back in britain for almost a year, it has nothing to do with showing off, its the way the human brain works, some habbits you pick up in other countries, some habbits ware off, other habbits dont, and some you keep because you prefer speaking/pronouncing things a certain way, stop moking/arguing with lurpis and other people for the way he speaks, he is his own person and you are your own person, everyone has the right to speak the way they want to and no country/language is perfect and can tell you there way is the right way.

you sir, should apologise every portuguese member of this website! As an admin, or newswritter, or something, you should behave yourself. You're acting like a little kid, just because no one cares about your new format for competitions. In my country, there is a little product called "Rennie". You should buy some. P.S. Now i can see why such a good team as ex-WinFakt (one of my favourites) ended up like that.

actually i couldn't care less if anyone adapts the formats i proposed in my article, but the fact is, what they are doing here is ridiculous. the good thing is, after probably one or two forfeit losses on purpose for easier bracket draws, the single elimination stage is normal and will decide most of the tourney. solid burn buddy (with the usual they were my faves too!!!! for added effect) there, even though you obviously have no idea what happened in winfakt

I can't see your point. A person who prefers using another country's flag its not a patriot person. Honestly you should be the one to feel sorry for living in your country, since you don't even got the balls and love to show it. We have pride on our country since over the centuries we achieved many things. We discover the world. Because of us you now can know where africa, america, etc.. is situated. We have the best football player of world atm. Also in counter-strike we have the best moviemakers in the world and i can guarantee you that. Its obvious that anything is perfect and like everywhere we have our mistakes and fails. But still i'm proud of being Portuguese no matter what. We're a small country but we are a big united community. So, when you say that he should feel sorry for being born in Portugal you should stfu!

god I forgot how long those arguements can be when portuguese ppl are involved... I'm not ashamed for my country nor do I not love it (I've said many times I'm --> French <--), I'm simply educated, something very hard to understand for portuguese people apparently. I love my country but I don't think it has anything to do with patriotism to show it on a video game website. Don't be so proud of your country, we owe nothing to it. If it wasn't for you, you think nobody would have ever come across Africa and America? Come on, you just arrived first... The reason you should feel sorry for being born in Portugal is not the country itself or its history (I could care less about either of them) but for the pathetic behaviour portuguese people display on this forum Oh and btw the best player in the world is Messi, get over it (and you don't have the best movie makers.)

you obviously contradict yourself in every way , begining with the fact that you insinuate that portuguese people are dumb as you can see in your comment #192 and you state that "I'm simply educated, something very hard to understand for portuguese people apparently. I love my country but I don't think it has anything to do with patriotism to show it on a video game website. " ok you're so polite that you call by other words that portuguese guys are shit , well i'm not gonna feed you more cause i dont usually talk to guys who don't know what they said 5 minutes before , if you wanna have a conversation try to remember what you say first

So what? Are we responsible for all people's acts? Sincerely i agree with you some points. Some people have a pathetic behaviour and don't even have the manners to talk or to be polite overhere. So, all the Portuguese people are pathetic? All of us suck? I don't even wanted to answer on this topic because of the polemics. But this sentence touched me "btw you'd rather be sorry for being born in Portugal bro". that's why i said that upthere. That's why i'm proud of my country. I can't do nothing about other people. So don't judge one country with milions of people by a few dozens of people who are possessed by rage. Btw, i guarantee you. The best moviemakers belong from Portugal. That i really know what i'm talking about.

wow so this is all about a single sentence? This was just a rethorical figure to zelin's "feel sorry for you bro"... I don't particularly hate pt people, I don't care enough for that. And imo there is no such thing as a "best movie maker", you only prefer some over the rest, doesn't mean he's the absolute best

Why do you think i replied to that comment? And actually there is. In your point of view is no such thing as a "best cs player" Some prefer SpawN, other prefer HeatoN. The best football player etc etc..

movie making is closer to an art than a sport. You can definitely say X boxer > all if he owns everyone, but saying Da Vinci > Michelangelo makes no sense

not sure what the point is, i watched a minute and i guess it's interesting but i don't see anything relevent. nothing here is a competition between finland and portugal, but if you want to compare something, our country hasn't needed bailing out yet

ok, i just went through 6mins 30seconds of pure bragging, mostly over useless facts over portugal. your country helped mine 50 years before i was born? cool i guess, but not at all relevant. i have no idea why finland is brought into this conversation at all in the first place, i realize every portuguese person is extremely patriotic on hltv.org but since i am not and haven't brought up finland once, i guess it's just something you think you have over me?

i didn't say they are corrupt, that kind of stuff happens all the time just accidentally, people are friendly towards some people, don't want to disappoint others (if they know them) etc, little things. why do you think k1ck and znation are in the last group, usually meant for lowest seed? because it plays last, top teams wanted the best schedule (or organizers awarded them it just to be nice).

Sorry that you have to go through this, but please don't judge a nation over comments of some random teens from a pretty retarded PT cs community.. just ignore them they don't know what an opinion is. On topic I agree with you about the tournament format being silly, but mainly due to the round difference for the third places because like you said it can't be compared to goals scored and suffered for instance because it's a completely different starting point.. you can't compare teams based on rounds of different maps on differents sides... Also I bet these groups were handpicked. Anyways thumbs up for the organizers, because in the end what matters is the games and the fun! keep it up. GL

we have NEVER (at least in my time, since sept/oct last year) covered an event with a worse team list. if you think we have, show me that event, and if i agree for a good reason, i will cover this event. that list includes 0 top10 teams in the world. of course i am not going to the tournament, i will be in north america during the event and i currently don't play cs, i can still comment on it. you're entitled to your opinion, luckily majority of the people actually know what good looking people look like so i'm good. ps. you just did, so get off your high horse and stop being mad over me saying your nation's pride in counter-strike isn't actually a top team.

lol in our country we have 1 or 2 teams that play that for real, the others play with friends, go to holidays together not like you, that train 8 hours per day to play cs,i am not mad i ever played that for fun... the thing that i want to explain you, is that u can complain anything when you are playing that tournament. It's the 1st tournament by that administration and all teams that will play in this tour, noone said that is bad bla bla bla. You are mad lol... next time request another administration for do the tournament format, that is the reason why you are mad... don't cry, and play cs not forum posts cause admins deny you. Thanks

i have played 0 hours of cs since iem6 wc and about 50 hours in the past 4 months (since iem kiev), that's hardly 8 hours a day. at my most active i probably played 4-6 hours a day before tournaments, but i have never played 8 hours a day often. if you take a look at comment #88 (hltv.org/?pageid=18&threadid=152563#r321..), you will see he agrees with everything i said. admins denied me? i haven't talked to anyone from this tournament about formats. anyone can form an opinion on anything, i chose to spoke mine out (as do thousands of people daily on hltv.org)

I'm sorry but can you stop acting like a child. It's their Tournament not yours so if you don't like it you don't have to comment and to give your opinion (it's not good or something else) just say Nice Tournament simple as that. Common I didn't expect this from you, I know you're a very nice guy. Hope It will be a good tournament. Best lucks from Macedonia :)

"if you don't like it you don't have to comment and to give your opinion (it's not good or something else) just say Nice Tournament simple as that." that is not how the world works and for a reason. so when a hotel is shit, you shouldn't actually say they have bed bugs because it might hurt their business, so instead just be nice and not write a review on hotels.com about it?

You being a known and respected member of the CS community, a world class cs player, and part of the HLTV.org staff should be a bit more careful with what you write. We all have opinions but when you've some many people who read your comments and that blindly follow what you say you should avoid using adjectives like "catastrophic" to describe the format of a tournament made by an organization that's taking it's first steps. That comment (along with the others you made after that, specially the one regarding the quality of the teams) may have possibly reduced the number of people interested in watching the tournament which can turn into less money being invested by sponsors, or even a complete loss of interest, in am hypothetical future edition of the tournament. You may think that you don't have that big of an impact, but you do, and a player of your status should be a bit more diplomatic when speaking in public specially considering that you're not in any way affected by this since you're not going to play in the tournament, the player and the teams that will attend it should be the ones complaining, but they haven't, making what you've just said sound like a rant.

i stand by my words, the format is catastrophic. with me you get what you see, i don't beat around the bush like 90% of players and lie, i actually say the truth. if people choose to not watch because i say something that means they just live their lives the wrong way and there is nothing i can do about that.

doesn't really question anyone's honor, almost every tournament in the world (except esl) does that because the people in charge are friends with or fans of certain teams, so they do it without realizing it. hardly to do with "honor" of a person.

sX? They're so incredibly bad. They didn't reach anything. No one of these players is even good. They just have money to travel. K1CK was a good team indeed. I didn't see them playing for years. It feels like at least. They gained a new sponsor and they said they will go to tournaments now but I can't see it. :-) x6 is just a semi pro team!

x6tence hasn't done anything internationally since 2006 and k1ck hasn't ever. semxorah is the bad brazilian team that goes to all dreamhacks etc (and went to copenhagen games) and has yet to break top 16 afaik. they aren't top teams by a long shot, which is why we don't do full coverage - while there are a lot of portuguese fans, it would be too much work to do full coverage of an event like this.

hltv.org didn't cover digifest fall, lantrek or firecore (which were all similar events to this) that we attended. they all received the same treatment; a few hot matches and a results post.

k1ck hasnt ever ? Dude i dont know if you remember gamegune 2010, i think. when k1ck scores a 5th place. K1ck did so well, beat mousesports and others good teams from brasil (CNB) and french (dont remember the name). k1ck just hasnt done anything cause they dont have opportunitty attending major tournaments, k1ck has great pottencial to became a top team but in portugal we dont have conditions to do that.. Gl with your team

id like to see other team training for a big tournament playing online with 80-120 ping like k1ck done and keep doing. Its very hard training in portugal, Coachi (k1ck's captain) said that most of the times they cant see if tactics are doing well, cause her laggs are high, they die wihout seeing anybody. Most of the team dont want to train with k1ck, to k1ck play with 60 ping others top teams have to play with 30 ping, wich is to higher for him... Dude, dont hate this. We are a small country we just want job :)

i'm not hating on k1ck, i have no idea why people are taking my comment so negatively, even coachi himself said he agrees. it's irrelevant whether they haven't done well because of lack of good conditions, motivation or skill - they haven't, and that proves my point

k1ck has attended lots of events (eswc, wcg etc) through qualifiers, but i agree their practice conditions aren't good - which is irrelevant. i looked up gamegune results (hltv.org/?pageid=82&eventid=606) and here is what k1ck did at gamegune 2010: 9-16 vs fnatic 16-14 vs mousesports (without their best player roman or 3rd best player Tixo - hltv.org/news/4788-mouz-announce-gamegu... with Blizzard[inactive for years] and d0m AZ as stand-ins) 4-16 vs Na`Vi surely that's not a bad result, but the fact that taking down a mousesports pug once is a highlight proves my point - k1ck aren't a bad team, but they aren't a top team either. placing "5th" doesn't mean anything without being top teams, at gamegune 2010 there were only 3 legitimately good teams, so already placing 4th wouldn't mean anything imo. thanks for the good luck i suppose? but i'm not an active cs player right now.

yeah, i agree with you, im not saying that k1ck are a top team. Just didint agree when you said "since 2006 and k1ck hasn't ever". For portugal was a big archievement, since portuguese teams never managed to win anything out of doors. About coverage, i agree with you said but i remember some tournaments in Asia, i think with just one "top"/good team and hltv did coverage about that. Yeah i wish you luck ,in the future.

what you're kind of missing is that we WILL do coverage of this event too, but just the usual - hot matches, and post about results. that is the standard coverage we always do, unless nix0n is on-site at the tournament itself. by "doing anything internationally" i meant being multiple top teams etc, k1ck isn't a bad team but they just aren't a top team.

What were you guys expecting? For Nix0n to move down to Porto and meet you? This is an outstanding tournament for the "common local teams", but for the big sponsored community its just one more local and restricted occurence. I'm not saying that this isn't a good chance to meet the pro's, play for money and all, but compared to the european "big championship" standards, the xFunctionFRAGlíderCUP by CJM ain't even close to it, and that's exactly the good part: you guys from Portugal should enjoy this tournament and not worry about international coverage. By the way, here in Brazil we are reproducing this Cup's news in every big eSports website and we'll be tuned in from the begining.

Your comments are so unprofessional, lurppis. Why can't you shut the fuck up, when you have to? Go find a new org for your old mates, and try to leave alone people who are still struggling for new events to all community. Just what you think or do, it's correct. All the rest is shit! Come on guys you are not being reasonable here, it is pretty obvious that the teams attending are not good enough for hltv.org to do a full coverage, the format isn't perfect either... But this is a START for this tournament, and this could be a good tournament in the future. For sure the organizers will learn a lot from here and the next one could bring top teams to Portugal. Lurppis is actually right in everything he said, even tough i think we just never did big damage in international tournaments only because our pracctice conditions are ridiculous and we can not afford to go to international events on a regular basis, still he was right and there is nothing to hate about! In the end, coachi, it all comes down to money and experience. Like you guys, many other teams have talented players but no training conditions neither any money to travel around. Just like you said, lurppis is right, but this tournament is a big step ahead and shall lead Portugal to a higher level of competition.

Yeah, lurppis isn't saying something out of normal, he is just giving his own opinion, nothing more. But that's a problem Portuguese people have, including me. We don't really like when foreign people trashtalk about Portugal or portuguese teams/whatever that has to do with our country. Tournament organisers can't really please everyone, it's impossible. And it's nice that someone is trying to create something new. Ofc lurppis would be happier if his system started being adopted by organizers. Plus, let's be realistic. It's going to take a while until a portuguese tournament is fully covered by HLTV.org. Til then, let's hope for a huge load of new tournaments... The more, the better! I really hope for a good tournament, and GL for all the teams, hope for a portuguese one to win :D

No no i didn't say anything about the tournament system i just said that i agree with lurppis about the comments from portuguese fans about k1ck when coachi a player of k1ck himself agrees with him and the fans don't. See #84 #69 #67 #79 and many more.

(Yeah, I know, but as I was writing the comment, I decided to write everything) I read the whole conversation, and, as I said, that's the way portuguese people "behave" towards critics. But, once more, coachi showed his "rational ability" by being calm and neutral

yea but if you know it's a problem people have, why insult me? i don't get how patriotic some people are because someone was born on the same piece of land as them. what i proposed is by no means "my" system, as i said it's something starcraft2 tourneys use and the re-seeding is from nhl - just thoughts for improvements. i do think this format is really bad though, it promotes the wrong things in cs and there's a good reason it hadn't been used in the past 11 years of competitive cs. at least you understood the coverage part, kudos to you

I do believe people are insulting you because you're lurppis, the pro-player, the kind of person everyone wants the chance to talk to. Plus, you look like a direct person that goes straight to the point, which is something people aren't expecting/used to. If it was a random user, people would just think: "eh, just another random guy" and would not care this much I think that this format is just for making an experiment: if it proves it is bad, on the next edition they will certainly change to another one, untill they reach the perfect format. cheers

that's fine by me, i just don't think they should let it run in the first place but we can all ask the teams that get knocked out by round difference after placing third in their groups how they felt (knowing 3rd place team in f advanced, too) :D

He basically agreed with you and explained it why. Judging by the amount of comments here, you can clearly see that you could have been a little more polite, at least, in your words. I understand that you want to tell the truth and follow your opinion, still, you could have done it in a bit more respectful and professional way. You are indeed important within this community, but being someone with your status, use it to be constructive, to be helpful. "Here's what I think it's wrong and here's the solution for it", for example. Unfortunately your honesty turned in a nation being against you. Again. PS: I truly regret the majority of the comments I see around here. It's bad for you, it's bad for the event, it's bad for a reputation. Hopefully people in the near future won't come up with this as an excuse to stop supporting our work.

dude, read what he said carefully! COINCIDENTALLY ur in the group where more teams will advance! the key word is COINCIDENTALLY! tell me, is that the kind of language/behavior u demand from a person that has the kind of responsability that he has? are u freaking kidding me? he might be right about everything else, whatever, but he's talking about u and the organizers like u DECIDED to do that, he's talking about things and persons that he has no clue about! are u kidding me? if it was me, he wouldnt stay without answer, thats for sure!

Oh please, I see the comments here and I laugh. With all the hate that I have for lurppis for being a complete douchebag, he's right. This tournament is boring to be honest and I can count the number of good teams with one hand only, and still I manage to have few fingers left (which means there are less than 5 good teams for those of you who can't do the math). The tournament format is also ridiculous... Bottom line, HLTV.org should feature just the finals .. because that would be probably the only good match from this tournament.

Yet they must be reasonable and know that HLTV.org isn't here to coverage each and every possible tournament around the world. This tournament might be interesting for Portuguese fans, but since there are no top teams there, no one except for them would be really interested in watching those matches unless he's really bored / he's a huge fan of underdog teams - and if you're one.. I'm sure Fraglider will provide you a way to watch this tournament without HLTV.org ..

I really cant understand. Anyway GL x6tence and come back to sapin with the 1st price.

lurppis is just being lurppis, don't know why anyone is even trying to argue with that knucklehead. obviously the tournament has big names, but i've seen big tournaments from serbia, bosnia, etc being covered and there weren't that many international top teams there. i don't have any problem with them being covered, nor do i care if this tournament isn't covered, but taking lurppis seriously and to not be a huge douche is like expecting the 2nd coming of christ in your lifetime.

it's not even "attacking", lurppis is known to be a huge cunt and makes no attempt to even not look like it. it's funny hltv.oth tries to enforce rules and prevent flame wars between countries when a "colaborator" goes on to generalize a whole countries community based on comments off a website. it's a pitty it has come to this, but i guess those are the perks that come from being a pro player. it sets a bad example and a website like hltv.org has no need to lick the shoes of a moron who thinks his word is dogma.

what you need to understand is i haven't disrespected you. hltv.org doesn't have enough manpower to cover every single tournament, that is a fact. as i already said, we will do the usual; hot matches for playoffs and a results post after event. we can't send nix0n to portugal and we can't write post match posts about every match, so what else can you possible ask for?

Well took some time to read all of this, there are lot of dumbfucks on this topic, who dont even read the text but just jump into Tomi's neck and start flaming and making shit up. I think its going to be a decent event, its a big step and i hope its going to be good. This event will show if there will be next ones and will they be bigger aswell with more teams to come. People should not judge others on what they are writing here, everybody has they're own opinion and should just keep the shit they want to say to others, to themselves. Nice article, i hope it goes well with this event ;)

what i dont understand is you all want him to understand other peoples opinions, but none of you are trying to understand his opinions, maybe think before accusing someone of something or stand in there shoes before assuming they are being a hater or cocky. All i see on these forums are people critisizing him for voicing his opinions, even though he has on countless times explained in valid reasoning why he voiced those opinions, which in truth are almosts always the truth and valid on the matters spoken about.

I DIDNT SAID that his opinion wasnt valid or somethin like that i'm just saying his opinion doesnt worth more than the rest of the users and him as a professional player, idol of many as to be more careful with his words and dont insult who insulted him in that point of insulting he is just being a kid and he knows it, he is in the cs "world" for many years and he knows if he insults someone the insults will never end, that's the cs world, unfortunately

post #254 you wrote "why do you need to be so cocky?" you are asking him why he is being cocky, which means you are implying that he is being cocky, which quite frankly is an insult. so yes you did insult someone, and denying that you did is insulting your own intelligence. oh and BTW calling someone arrogant is also an insult!

so basically you are insulting my intelligence and my language now, sigh, you clearly dont know what an insult is, and you are still contradicting yourself, every time you post an counter argument with me you contradict yourself, you insist that you are not insulting anyone, but you dont seem to know what an insult means, because you keep insulting the person you claim to not be insulting... "An insult (also called a slur, scoff, slight or putdown) is an expression, statement (or sometimes behavior) which is considered degrading and offensive. Insults (sometimes called "cracks" "remarks" or one-liners)[1] may be intentional or accidental. An example of the latter is a well-intended simple explanation, which in fact is superfluous, but is given due to underestimating the intelligence or knowledge of the other." Before saying "learn some insult tips", maybe you should learn what insult means!

LoL,what the hell does that mean? you make no sense what so ever, clearly you dont know what im talking about, or what insulting someone is, so i wont waste my time trying to teach you, go read up on it and maybe just maybe you will understand. funny how a normal conversation turned out to be a flame fest on your part, just because you were too stuborn to listen and understand other peoples opinions, which is exactly where we started all of this, you probably still dont realise how you have contradicted yourself this whole time, shame...

If there aren't any good teams in this tournament, tell me what the hell is MSI sponsoring a team like K1ck. Weird. Anyway, this will be covered by Fraglider, the leading eSports website in Portugal. They have covered other tournaments and done it quite professionally. So, if HLTV.org doesn't want to cover the tournament, that's their choice. I am sure there will be quite a few good matches, with teams that usually don't participate in international events, because of the lack of support. But, really, CS 1.6 isn't really dying, is it? I mean, ever weekend we have tournaments with a prize pool of $5,000, right? So that's cool. HLTV.org have their hands full, I guess.

I think that nobody really know lurppis and try to attack him, because they are annoyed by his calmness and the objectivity he has. Indeed, as somebody wrote before, I do think the people here try to agress him because he is pro-player, and they try to exist through their comments and him. The fact is, it is very-average level event that hltv.org chosed not to cover, which is ok. Remember that hltv.org is a association and they made a lot for the community for years, I figure out that if CS is still alive they have a part in this miracle. lurppis is a very nice person, (don't get my flag wrong, I'm french), at ESWC 2011, I've seen him and he was very nice to me, accessible, and cheery. We talked a bit, and as he said during the CS:GO clash with one of ESEA partner, I don't know lot a players that have done as much as he for the community. Surely, he is someone very direct, but that's ok to me. While, a lot of pros say CS:GO is a pure jewel, he keeps saying that it is a shitty game. I remember at ESWC 2011 where he was talking to his team-mates that the french organizers where fucking morons, that was so funny, 'coz it was true (among all teams that much compete that evening fnatic/Winfakt only 4 of them had their passes for being able to enter in the game field, so carn, friis, lurrpis and stuff were exchanging their passes to enter -_-').

i understand you and i kinda support what u're saying but lurrpis has to be more careful with what he says, cause as you said he influences the players opinion and sometimes he is too harder on criticism, i just think he should pick more wisely his words and try not to injury/insult who injured/insulted him

Come on portuguese people, you have mourinho as a well known example of someone as direct and objective as it can get, yet you fail to understand lurppis statement. All he did was state facts objectively. Even your nation pride k1ck's captain coachi did a pretty direct and objective analysis of what lurppis said, yet ur atacking him like mad dogs

FUCK this would of been a good read a few hours ago... need email updates something like "When a thread has 100replies in under 3hrs, send me an email" damn good reading :) ---- PS the format is not standard, however that does not make it incorrect or wrong. In fact if you learnt anything from Lurppi's article you will realise there is no "standard" format. This in itself a problem that Fraglider do not need to solve. After taking some time to let it process, you will also realise the format shouldn't affect any of the top teams at all. And they will enter the 16 bracket like usual.

you're right, there isn't a "standard" format, so there isn't a wrong or right format. it's normal to show or opinions but in a wise mode, criticism in a good way just bring new ideas and improved work people must realize that every tournaments can have his own format, brackets, etc..

finland has a ton of big tournaments for starcraft2 for example that have had up to $40k prize pots, cs 1.6 just isn't big enough to host tournaments here. still, back in 2008 we won 5,000€ from a finnish tournament with roccat, so finland itself has a very strong esports community, cs 1.6 is just smaller than cs:source (which has 2-3 tournaments a year with 2-3k€ for first place) here.

"catastrophical tournament format" imo, it's not the best way to start arguing about anything, anyways, only people from Portugal wants you to be a little more respectful when talking about their own event, I know that is kind of fun watch this kind of format after reading your helpful improving tourney format, but I really think that you don't have to waste your mind answering any single statement from them because they are just trying to piss you off and it seems to be extremly effective! so, don't be rude :p, leave that to noMad.

The disrespect starts when a people say something stupid as administrator. If a jornalist starts making a value judgment over the news, hes criticized for it (and well), so...if you are a competent administrator of an entity (in this case, hltv.org) you have to be responsible for the coments you do throught these entity and be impartial and correct as possible.

"catastrophical tournament format, i wonder who came up with the whole some teams advance based on round difference and more teams advance from one group (which coincidentally has the best local team) than the others?" One thing is a bad tournament format, another (too diferent) is a catastrophical tournament format, which is a bad judgment by lurppis.

I think lurppis can have his opinion like any guy, just because he his an admin of hltv doesn't mean that he can't comment the news with his opinion. But, he can show his opinion without showing some disrespect for Portugal, and Portugal's tournments, so i think lurppis only should be more polite with his opinion.. In the end, this discussion is useless cause the tournment as this groups format and that will not change, only by decision of the org of the tournment =) GL ALL players

lurppis iam not against your opinion, i respect it. I'll try to explain why is this format. As you probably know, live in portugal isnt that simples. You have never had to pay a tournament for yourself but we dont have many sponsors here so everythink that involves money we have to pay. Many pessoal here in portugal earn 485€/month. This tournament custs 100€ + trips and hotel cost (for some teams). 20€ for players + 40€ (for trip) + 30€ for 1 night at hotel. Most of counter strike players are kids that dont ear money. They have to ask for it. Would you ask your father and mother 90€ + money for food (120€ total) just to go there and play 2 maps ? Knowing that they only ear 485€/month, you were asking them for 1/4 of there salary just to play 2 maps. Is that look fair to you? The organizacion here gives the oportunity for those guys play a little bit more. Is that so hard to understand? As i said i respect your opinion but this is the truth in our contry sadly.

And you know lurppis, we live in South Europe and like you should know we are forgotten so many times in so many things that is usual to we don't care. But you have lucky to live in a Advanced country that cares whit those people and makes your life better. We are just trying to have one simple moment of happiness (playing counter strike), and I agree with pSycgicpt, we are students that doesn't have so money like you. So let us to have fun one time in our life... Its nice that you posted things were that means that we are not invisible , but be cool man. sincerely.

All he said was that the format is horrible (which it is), and they won't do a full coverage (meaning no one is going to portugal), but they will still post the hltv for the hot matches.

I read all probably like you. And I know that he said that the format sucks but if you don't mid psy: "The organizacion here gives the oportunity for those guys play a little bit more." My question is, there are anything wrong with that? If you saw CB Nations, the tournament was very similar... I don't see any problem with this, but I'm portuguese, so my opinion probably doesn't count... About the coverage, I'm not against what lurppis said, but I wanna see some action. So I think that if the pass hot matches (OK probably in Europe this is not considerate hot match, but teams like K1ck, Phantoms, x6, NG, zN... what ever deserve spectators) Anyway I don't wanna lose my time with this, thanks to HLTV if gonna show some matches, will be interesting.

they WILL show matches. it is gonna be the same coverage as most LANS where they aren't on site because none of hltv admins are going to portugal. I think the format is bad, but I can also see the point in it, as you stated yourself, but I am still not a fan of it.

HANDFOOTBALL? u(americans) cant be right all the time. u created it cause u sucked at it. and u need to be diferent and create another sport which btw is retarded as we(rest of the world but states, and maybe australia) all know ps: on basketball ur the best. no doubt. but dont come with the "its soccer" cause its not.

who are u to judge this type of format. its done and ppl here want to play more than 2 maps. just cause u maybe never had to pay for a tournament, in PT 90% of the teams do. ppl go for fun and for some competition adrenalin. they know they wont win. cs is not a job for them like it was for u. now stop annoying ppl with ur opinions we all got it. havent seen u elsewhere saying so much crap per paragraph

how in the hell does my readings about random tournament having place in Portugal end up me to see lurppis' and others arguing about football-soccer, and after that everyone from portugal to hate lurppis and a one person even willing to kill him. i'd say that you lurppis, my sir, have completed your job. now i can go to bed peacefully and sleep well. good night :3

I don't remember when I did the registration on this site, but I purposely login to say a few words. as I said, I do not remember the date of registration, but I remember this site ask for sponsers to survive on certain time or the site would close. Reflection 1 for all: don't forget where we came from! It's we, the simple users that make this site go on!!! you can cover big events with big teams, BUT with out us (the smallers) you will not survive! the decision to not cover small events (in portugal or in any country) are decisions that the website owners have taken, but that future will tell if they were correct or not... reflection/question 2: it's better to have this site without any cover of big tournaments instead covering a smaller tournament on any country? for you lurppis, if you do not have the capacity to realize that when you're a leader or a follower of opinions, someone who is responsible for you on this site please tell you, enlighten you, for your temper on comments! You can't tell anythink you want just because it's the truth or it make senses to you! you just cant and this is not justifiable nor insurmountable! it is a fact and as much as you argument (it seems you like allot) simply you can not justify... to finish, the format of this tournament is the way they want... if they want to make all teams to move on the second stage, they should! it's their torunament, their rules and just do your job: publish the news!

Not that I really care about the football thingy, but h34dsh0t gets a point here. No offense lurppis, you were ( you may still remain ) a great player in my eyes as well as it seems that you always get troubles when it comes to keep your mouth shut. You are clever, we know that. Now I think you're wasting your time trying to make everyone think the same way as you do. You'll surely earn respect if you can avoid such issues. As I said, no offense! You were my heroe back in times :-)
