B2B without a sponsor, priori dead

Defending ESEA Invite champions Back2Back have dropped their organization and are now called Need Sponsor. Meanwhile, third place team priori featuring the likes of Derek "dboorN" Boorn has died.

ESEA Invite Season 11 has just two weeks of regular season online play left before the LAN finals are scheduled to take place in Dallas, TX on the weekend of June 29 with a prize purse of $19,600 up for grabs in Counter-Strike 1.6.

Back2Back at ESEA Invite Season 10 Finals (Photo: ESEAnews.com)

ESEA forces all sponsors or organinzations to deposit $500 for their team at the beginning of the season to help avoid teams getting scammed, and because of Back2Back's inability to do so, the defending champions featuring Braxton "swag" Pierce have decided to leave their organization.

Need Sponsor:

Canada Brennan "ele1Nt" Webster
United States Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert
Canada Kory "semphis" Friesen
United States Sean "sgares" Gares
United States Braxton "swag" Pierce

If you're interested in sponsoring the former Back2Back team who are currently sitting at the top of ESEA Invite with a 12-0-0 record and a whopping 192-78 round difference, you can contact Kory "semphis" Friesen via e-mail at [email protected].

Meanwhile, new team made for this season called priori had guaranteed themselves a playoff spot with a 9-4 record and looked good going into the finals, until Diablo 3 was released which apparently made Ricky "sLip" Cohen and Jeff "hero" Mettetal want to quit playing competitively.

priori:

Canada Arjun "bN" Gill
United States Derek "dboorN" Boorn
United States Anthony "djibouti" Manosca
United States Jeff "hero" Mettetal
United States Ricky "sLip" Cohen

Due to ESEA's rosters already being locked, they are unable to add any more players to their roster. This means they would have to get either both Cohen and Mettetal back to activity, or one of them and use sixth member Jon "darkstarr" Gersdorf instead.

No, you should at least add team as a prefix for priori No doubt you get more viewers this way, but this was so confusing

People are more used to other wordings. "Closes doors" would be my personal favourite. And I didn't say it was more likely. It was just my first reaction to check if someone nicknamed priori from the us scene was dead. Of course, if that was the case it would probably have been the first part of the headline since it outweighs B2B being without a sponsor. Just quickly skimming through, it can be a bit confusing.

dead is the incorrect word to use, the word derives from a living organism (i.e. if you refer to something as dead it is taken in the context of a living 'organism' or thing). This is a team the correct word to have used is 'disbanded' or 'folded'. 'Dead' is something that shouldn't even be related like people mentioning the title is miss leading and tbh pretty shoddy thing to use or say in an article. it's not really the best word to use in this synario

congrats it's the interwebs - You didn't put a capitial I at the start of your sentence, do you always come across this moronic? Your ego is really turning you into a bit of a bellend might I add. I am english and more than likely know the english language better than yourself.. You must be right 100% of the time, I mean.. forget all these people that are saying the same thing and take it on the chin yet you've got to much of an ego and an attitude problem to change it or accept something so minor, yet you proceed to troll people's comments - if you want to be a reporter now that your 'living off esports' dream is finished which you mentioned to me afew months back, then stop being ego and take it on the chin as positive criticism..

i still have 319 people on esea news who read "dead" and had no problem understanding it, therefore it's obvious people who aren't as comfortable with english are more likely to misunderstand it. i never had a "living off esports" dream, it was just a hobby i did and if i wanted to, i would still be playing. as far as writing goes, i enjoy it, reporting on the other side is kinda meh but it's part of the job. i have clearly never mentioned anything to you about "my esprots dream being finished" so you can stop with the lies now

I honnestly couldn't care less, like I said it is the wrong terminology but I just enjoy the fact you act like you have the highest ego known to man and changing a topic which people have complained about would put you a few pegs, it's quite funny reading through comments and rejecting or ignoring peoples comments about why it shouldn't be used in this context yet you reply to about 90% of the people with sarcastic comments And for the record:) "ouch that hurt, i've made a living through cs so far and worked one month (a summer job) in my life, so i wouldn't know what a 9-5 feels like. i go to school though, so i'll see you in the boring work life soon enough, don't worry. ps. you never had a time in gaming :D" youtube.com/watch?v=k8FlmXla0Pw

just because the majority thinks one way does not mean it's wrong. i've made a living through gaming (and i still make all my money from gaming one way or another currently) for the past 8 years and that's a fact, not some dream. btw, you say i have an ego, while bragging about supposedly being better at english (i say supposedly because i don't know for sure) than me, while it's your first and my third language. yeah...

Some of us have lifes and shit. No time to stay up to date with everything that goes on in the CS-scene. The title was indeed misleading, no matter how you look at it. Not that it matters, since everyone will see what the true story is about once they open up the article, but personally I wouldn't even have opened it up if it wasn't for the title. A honest mistake, or a clever way to attract more readers? You be the judge.

The headline was not(!!) misleading. It would be, if you are incompetent, but you dont seems like an incopetent person. Even if you dont follow the scene, you still know the players. And im sure nobody believes priori is a player, people just need something to bitch about.

Following the scene does not mean you have to know the name of every damn team that exists and have ever existed. The headline is very misleading, now if lurppis would only man up and admit his mistake everything would be just peachy.

not at all, i didn't think anyone would confuse a person and a team dying on an esports website when the word "dead" is used - clearly the odds are like 1/100 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000.

exactly the opposite, when they hear the word "die" in esports they don't think someone died, they think a team died. if they hear the word "die" in real life (not on an esports website), they would think someone is dead. that's rational.

I don't really understand what sLip and hero are doing. If you join a team, you essentially make a commitment to other people at least for that season. It never stops to amaze me how people just pull the rug from under their "friends" when they don't "feel" like playing. They have to play a few hours a few nights a week and go to the lan finals, but apparently they think that is too much to endure and they can't wait until the end of season to quit? It's another thing if they could get replacements or there would be no tournaments coming up, but in this case them quitting would just screw up the entire season for the others as well.

like i said in some other post, retiring is a terrible word to use for cs because it takes nothing to come back, this isn't like hockey where you have to train for months to even think about it, in cs all you do is load up cs and boom, in 5 seconds you've made "a comeback". the word "retire" should be retired in esports.

i like how you say something, your point gets shot down, you move on to another thing. sort of like you probably tried this lying thing about you being a good player first on gotfrag, then esea, and once the entire american scene shot you down, you moved to hltv.org in hopes of no one knowing your bullshit. reminds me of fodder. are you fodder?

ok lets continue this pointless argument: the point of saying someone retired? thatn is how EVERY sport works. someone stops playing = they retired. however, it doesn't work for cs because of what i mentioned before. why would i change the subject? because i've seen you post on this site before and you're clearly delusional and/or bi-polar, because you act like you were a good player in NA which you were not

you don't sign a paper saying you retired in anything, you only sign contracts to compete. i was in the usa for quite a while and i still know the scene well. you aren't in a good team in usa (or even an average one) because you aren't a good player (or even an average one). and if you even mention politics as a reason you aren't on a better team, i will laugh you out of this website.

You realize signing a contract that means you're signing a PAPER right?(I'm not sure if you're trolling me there but that was pretty stupid of you) And again bro you have NEVER seen me playing in your life, Just because you're a professional player that doesn't mean you're ANY better then me(It's not like you're better then me because I have seen you play and you're garbage at lan and online) Anyways get people on ESEA and play against us bro and THEN you can talk shit deal? Or you want me to play with 140+ ping for whatever country you're in and still destroy you and your team?

there is no contract signed to retire because no one pays you to retire, therefore there is no contract signed when people "retire". if you were even half decent, you would be playing in a high level esea main team. are you in a high level esea main team? the fact i was top fragging the top level of esea when i was in the usa says enough, no need to brign me into this. as far as playing vs "my team", i don't play in a team, or play in general. last time i loaded up cs was almost 3 months ago. that wouldn't stop me from beating you on my laptop without a monitor though ^^

Again you made no sense at all, I really don't know if you're trolling me about the retirement or if you're just an idiot. I was actually playing for "WE GO HARD" and they were good in fact anyone of that team is better then you. And why the fuck are you bringing up the past? Saying that you top fragged last time you played in america against these garbage kids on esea won't make you good either. And I don't really care if you havent touched cs for 3 months or 5 years. And challenge accepted, Why don't you play against my team then? Aren't you that good even without a real monitor? Then why don't you just play against us and TRY to beat us if you're THAT pro?

So now you're bringing up the fact that you won 340k(which you really didn't, infact the whole team did work except you. And killing people on eco rounds won't make you a top player in America or in Europe.) And they're for sure better then you listen you really think you're good at this game kid? Seriously for the past 2 years I've been watching you and your team playing together and all I saw was you ending up the match with a negative score. And now you're trying to troll me saying that you won $340k thinking that YOU DID SOMETHING TO WIN ALL OF THAT? Give me a fucking break Tomi Kovanen. If you didn't had anything to prove me then why are you still trying to troll me with your non-sense comments about "retirement" ? And how am I low-life if %90 of this website and the ESEA community knows that you troll on every website you visit? Come on man, I thought you stopped trolling when the news came out "Lurppis innactive" I was thinking you would get a real life and STOP fighing over HLTV.org forums. That was just like that time you were playing against ESC talking MAD shit to them(still got crushed though because neo > you) and at LAN when pasha passed infront of you, you were quiet as fuck and RED as a tomato. If you really think you're better then me you should play against me and my team. The end, I'm not gonna sit here and argue with a know-troll that thinks hes better then second best cs 1.6 player ever existed(which is me after NEO) Again play me on esea against my team or BEGONE and ignored forever.

i won't even comment on my play because i know i played well, you can check petar's stats articles from iem guangzhou and e-stars if you wish. it's funny i actually played the best in my team at our biggest tournament win (hltv.org/?pageid=188&matchid=10479&event..) but you wouldn't know anything about that would yo :D there was never a "lurppis inactive" news because i don't want a circus around me, so once again nice lie you got going there. as far as your next lie about neo's team goes, i have never talked shit to neo or anyone on his team because i've been friends with them since 2006, and that includes all five of them. again, if you actually ever attended a lan maybe someone here would believe it, but no one does. if you think you're the 2nd best player in the world without ever having attended a lan then that says it all, enjoy your days before someone takes you to an asylum and throws the key away

Add to note: lurppis is bi-polar and TromhaT=FODDER. Interesting analyze from my point of view. Tomi, have you ever considered yourself as an arrogant douche sometimes? The "total-money count" of yours, I mean. No one talks nor brag about how much money they made but your apparently not one of the highweights in earning cash at CS. (Yet you write how much in total earnings your teams have made) Really, the only ones allowed to even talk about money is the poles because the money they make from the event does make a difference. In your example, as you live in Finland (which is very expensive to live in), 2000€ cash is nothing if you live in the urban area. But I've to agree with you here, tromhaT is really having some kind of a napoleon complex.

ruuit was the best player i ever played with when he was in his prime, n0thing is probably number two though. the thing is that n0thing was never nearly as effective as ruuit, but to be fair it was also because i don't think we could use him the best possible way because our team had to rely on frod instead. ruuit was so aggressive it was ridiculous, he made things happen in game. n0thing was the most talented player i've ever played with though, it's too bad something made his play drop towards the end of 2009 because i've seen him do so many sick things in practice etc that i've never seen anyone else do

Hey, Thanks for answer. I figured you might answer something like this. Even the n0thing´s ace against redcode is ridicolous :D But what about frod? As a spectator point of view, frod seem to have the most impact on your game. If i´m not mistaken he had a crazy k/d in the fnatic msi event where you managed to win

frod is up there in the top five (i'd have to think for a few minutes to figure out where exactly, 3-5 probably) best player i've played with. he had the most impact in the best version of eg because most of our game revolved around his awp (meaning, we set strats as terrorists where he could hit the shots for us and as cts we helped him do the best he could). i wish he wasn't as aware of stats/afraid of dying though, he could have been even better but there is no questioning that he was really good. it's the same reason aslak was the best player (not to take anything away from him) in winfakt, because we used a fairly similar playing style to eg's where he was the main focus. why? because awp is the strongest weapon in the game. i actually think both basic and n0thing are/were/should be better players, but aslak and frod were more effective of the duos for sure.

Makes perfect sense. So i guess if you would pick a team only including individual skill and yourself, you would make a team with nothing, ruuit, nasu and frod? If they were all in their prime time, how would you rate your chances of being a top1 team ?

i can already tell that the team would not work, if we replaced either ruuit or n0thing with a player like gfn the team would have better chances. just how cs works, skill isn't anywhere near the most important factor.

well it's not really comparable because n0thing and ruuit are worlds apart from gfn skillwise, while gfn actually had more skill than warden, so he was an upgrade in every dept by then. however, smart players > skilled players, trust me.

i answer to people's messages to me because i consider it to be a part of my job here on hltv.org. no idea who you're referring to but they must be the people i don't stay in contact with regardless, since i do talk to most of my old teammates. i live my life and i don't talk about my personal life in case you haven't noticed, i simply answer people when it comes to cs. ps. umad

I love how you ban me untill 2022 because I was bringing up so many true facts about your career and about your lies. Wait a minute, Why would you abuse your powers and delete my last answer that I posted about you lying? Like really? How old are you to do this? Banning people because you can't handle the truth about your life? lol And by the way once again you failed and I know the truth hurts man. Don't worry I already contacted Nomad and im just waiting for him to remove your admin and ignore your words because everything that comes out of your mouth is worthless just like you are. And one more thing I already posted pretty much on every cs 1.6 community and showing them how immature you're. (especially on cadred.org) Have a nice day tomi!

I really enjoy his articles in SK-Gaming interviews with players, 1on1, some articles about the tams in the past but i dislike his personality and hating towards the other teams (fnatic) and players Nix0n won the MVP in IEM NY he said its not fair bla bla he won the MVP because he got the most votes if this is not fair then IEM should change the procedure of choosing MVP not to allow people to vote but chose MVP themselves. When he commentates most people hate him not only me see the threads about it. And when cyx died the title of the article in SK Gaming said "cyx dead in car accident, mouz replaced" its sounds disrespectful.

well clearly you have gotten butthurt over something he said about fnatic since you're a fan, but if you know a time he said something unreasonable i'd love to see it because i doubt it, he's extremely fair. nix0n winning the mvp was __NOT__ fair. that's a fact, and i can laugh with marc about that. whether he deserves something for all the work he does is another story, but he did NOT deserve the MVP trophy of IEM NY and it made a joke of IEM's MVP picking system - another fact. once again, people prefer different things, i'd take his casting over a HUGE majority of people who have casted CS, i look for facts not for fake excitement. as far as cyx dying, i fail to see how that is disrespectful. what should it have said (and i considered myself to be friends with cyx via cs)? cyx passes away peacefully in a nice car accident during a beautiful full moon lighting up the sky? come on man.

1. About fnatic he said if fnatic was a football team they would have 11 attacking midfielders or something like that after picking up moddii or karrigan i dont remember.. As far as i know FNATIC is the most respected organization in eSports/CS and and why does thorin need to comment on fnatic picking players when where he worked SK is the "attacking midfielders" team here not to mention the delpan case. About cyx you maybe didn't remember the title but in that day when one of the best player in the world died the title the title should't be "cyx dead in car accident, mouz replaced" it sounds like cyx was getting replace he could've write about cyx death in one article and about mouz getting replaced in their group in IEM in an another article. See the comments in SK-Gaming and the title changed since thorin saw he was wrong. About streaming u would want thorin over but the fans wont because he is simply boring and tries to be smart all the time im not saying he doesn't have a knowledge in CS but people simply dont want a smart ass commenting on every move or mistake that team makes they want to have fun while watching get excited etc.. for example Joe is perfect one of the best casters in CS ever and see zonic when he won 1vs5 vs h2k how Joe screaming it makes everything exciting, fans prefer combos Joe+cArn or Joe+you or some other pro player.

fnatic does have bad roles in their team as far as i am concerned too. will you hate me now too? just because their players so far have made it work doesn't mean the roles were terrible at first, we'll see a few tournies from now if they were able to adjust or not - copenhagen games was the first event which is always the easiest, and in stockholm they beat no top teams. it has nothing to do with fnatic being respected, thorin is a writer, it doesn't matter what site he writes about and if you truly believe that he said that because he worked for sk's website, you're extremely wrong. he said tons of negative stuff about sk and most often said the best teams were better than them (esc, navi). fnatic wasn't as strong as them, hate on your favorite team, not the messenger. if anything, sk would be full of strikers, not midfielders. don't even bring up the delpan case when fnatic did something way worse with gux. by that time, it was like the wild west because of the gux situation (and i actually do know what happened, not just what was posted on sk/fnatic sites). cyx dying shouldn't even have been news in esports, it's not something his family owes the esport world to know. on that note, i think he was 110% right to post them in the same post, otherwise people would have asked what's gonna happen to mouz, and mouz dropping was a direct result of cyx's death. i can guarantee you thorin thinks he was right until today (as do i), someone else just changed it for him or forced him to change. nothing wrong with what he did. as far as streaming goes, you all have your preference and that's fine, but i don't need someone creating fake excitement to make watching cs exciting, that's just me. he isn't trying to be a play-by-play guy which i am not trying to be either, which is the main point you clearly seem to forget - he isn't competing with joe.

Yes you countered everything except the fact that i'm not the only one who doesn't like him and there are many many people that think the same thing and have posted in HLTV.org saying he is a BIG DOUCHE. It's not about my favorite team yeah they're not perfect still the most successful team in CS (along with ESC).

no one is forcing you to like him and if you don't that's fine, but don't make up false accusations like him disliking fnatic because he worked for sk. it's pointless to argue which organization housed the most successful team of all time (and even then it would probably be sk), makes more sense to consider actual lineups.

He tries too hard to string together more then two words which are synonyms in an effort to make him sound clever, and the way that he asks a question to a professional player and then asks it again and AGAIN, worded slightly differently before the person gets a chance to respond really ground my gears, so I stopped listening to him. Joe, cArn and Rahim are the best shoutcasters because they tell you what is happening as its happening, not going off on tangents or telling us how much money each player has, who wants to know that? :)

lurppis, yet again. Your not thinking that clear when your commenting. Think first comeback later. You just wrote that there's no reason why anyone would write about cyxs death. cyx had an important value @ german CS, and was an amazing player. He was dominating the .DE scene for a few years. His death left german CS a huge hole, mouz crashed when he died. And second, the reason why nix0n won MVP is because he took a role that no one else would want to take and did that with style. A player shouldn't just be the best fragger, he should also be important for the team. In this case, mTw didn't have a good replacement for Minet at that very moment, which made him very important for their team. And he did that with style, even placing before EG. So I guess you've every rights to be mad because even with a standin, that proved also that US isn't even near top tier euro level.. (As even with nix0n, they're managing to beat top US) As your teammates would describe you: lurppis the person, not lurppis the player. That's the one they're annoyed at, and that's why you didn't have that good of a chemistry with allu n co. And if I may speculate, I assume that one of the reasons why roccat don't exist today is because of your persona.

if i died, i wouldn't want anyone to post about it on a counter-strike website and i definitely wouldn't by any means owe it to the community to let them know i died. mvp is the MOST VALUABLE player of the tournament, and that was most likely GeT_RiGhT. that's a fact. as for the US' level in CS, why would I be mad? I was the first one to call n0thing when they lost to ask what that was, if anything it just makes me look better when the US struggles :D I actually got along with everyone except allu great, I consider myself to be good friends with BASiC. allu is the main reason I didn't have fun playing CS and people who actually know him (not like you, as i, beg him to talk to you on IRC and he probably answered so now you're his #1 fan) will vouch for me. roccat doesn't exist anymore because we sucked in 2009, contE kicked ruuit which eventually killed the team once they lost their Crack Clan sponsorship (again, has nothing to do with me). as for actual roccat orga, i told the guys to never leave the orga and they were offered a 33% increase in salary from gameplay so they went for it against my advice, and never got paid another salary again. ...and in short, us not getting good results and not having a good sponsorship killed the team and led to people going to army. but hey, once again, please speculate, you seem to be very talented at it

dude, I know allu very well, and I know details you don't even have anything to do with. Don't come here and talk like your higher than me. And I don't get why ur suddenly attacking allu. Allu wasn't the only one saying that your skill level isn't that good. Aslak was also disappointed with your overall performance, you dragged down their motivation all in all because of ur attitude. while they wanted to pracc and be serious, u were doing something else. if u rly have this attitude over being a "professional" counter-strike player, i can just say that 99% of the forum looks down on you because of the way you act. not only does fodder have problems with attitude, it goes even further down to you. so stop talking so much over the internet because in cs, ur over and done. there wont be no more lurppis because no one in FI cs wants to have anything to do with u...

i don't like allu because of how he is as a person it's no secret we didn't get along lol. i'll talk more about it in my upcoming article about winfakt so no point going into more detail here. i didn't play well since eswc and i already pointed that out myself, just didn't have motivation to put in hours or fun playing since i lost hope in that team at eswc (after quarters loss vs sk). as far as me not being able to practice that's obvious, everyone knows i was in north america for majority of 2012 and only came home for 2 weeks before iem6 wc. if i wanted to play cs i would have a team, i'm the one who decided to not go to copenhagen games or continue playing with the team (which "somehow" died 2 weeks after playing without me? coincidence i'm sure!)

and ya, the odds of not confusing a person and a team dying on an esports website when the word "dead" is used - have proved to be like 1/100 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000.

lol so many posts, haven't even read this article yet. hltv - rackin in t3h m0nies with misleading titles (and they say title is too short.. one thing I will say, never write "die" with an inanimate object, there's other words for it, ex. table has been 'broken', attic has 'crashed to pieces' 'team has disbanded' you get my point, and 'sponsor-less (to make title shorter)' Wow haha, you make the wording so misleading on the sentence with dboorN, you are very clever! edit: you can't use "disbanded" because that means the team won't reform... darn, uh... well I guess 'died' fits. 2 people quit for Diablo3? Really? game's terrible, haven't played it, but if you spend that much money, Blizzard, on a trailer, (rather than gameplay/maintenance after release) you don't deserve anyone's money. one more rant.. I hate how inanimate objects can "live", such as corporations, teams, etc.....

" game's terrible, haven't played it" Do you have a website where I can get more of your baseless opinions?

Sorry if you think my opinion is bad, but an opinion is an opinion, and quality games don't come by alot - of which diablo3 isn't one. An auction system in which you pay real money to buy in-game items? Anyway, that game is over-hyped for what it is worth. I'm not going to spend time explaining why it is bad, just google "why is diablo 3 bad". Baseless? I've gained an opinion on the game by looking at what it stands for, what you are supposed to do, and what the outcome of the game is, pointless. edit: cough cough blizzard is a greedy rich company hungry for more money. Just as CS:GO is catering to the masses by watering down gameplay, Diablo 3 has the same idea. Grab as many people you can, deceive them with a crazy computer generated trailer coupled with theatric music. You get the point. (I hope)

youre wrong. diablo 3 is pretty similar to diablo 2 except for rmah, which has its pros and cons. have you played diablo 2? well i believe you wouldnt like it either, so games like diablo are not for you. and if you think most ppl play d3 cuz of trailer i dunno what to say to you :D i play it and i really like it

i like how slip and hero both quit for diablo 3, never played the game, but i know that those real nerds like hero who hate social contact and pale white love those kinds of games.
