CS:GO Q&A with Chet Faliszek

Rod "Slasher" Breslau from GameSpot sat down with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive writer Chet Faliszek for a lengthy Q&A session at E3 2012 in Los Angeles.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment's new title, is targeted for release on August 21 and will be priced at $14,99 on both the PC and consoles.

Starting off the interview, Breslau questions Faliszek about the price, which is surprisingly low compared to regular releases these days, and the free-to-play model Valve will use in DotA 2.

"The beta is not polished," Faliszek later explains, talking about how the beta stage has been, also sharing some information on how Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment have been working.

Moreover, Faliszek adds that although August 21 is the release date, it is not "the end of development," it is just the date the game will be released. Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment will continue to work on the game into the future.

Because everything evolves, and 1.6 has too. If 1.6 stays the same, the game will die and players will find some other games.

They improved recoil and they claim it's "close" now. There will be a patch that will dramatically improve sound and that it will be "dead on". They will focus on CS:GO even after it's release, also they won't focus on other games such as CS2 and just fully focus on improving CS:GO. .. and matchmaking and it's differences to RTS games, other than that just prices.

It's awesome that he explains everything, that he explains that the game was shit because it was suppose to be shit back when beta just came out. It's awesome that the game has evolved into a WAY better game than that it was back when the beta was released. It's horrible that they're not adding russianjumping or proper bunnyjumping :(

actually noone had a problem with his cs career before 2007 (the year that duck jumping was implemented officially)

chet i just wanna liek say ty to you.. i mean i play on ps3 and it's really hard for people like me (hardcock FPS FANS) to play your game if it would been only pc. i love ps3, i mean those moments in CALL OF DUTY, noobtuubing, 4 feet knifing, ninja pro are so much fun. CS:GO - Maps Suck , Guns Suck , Movement ultra suck ... why to switch CS:GO with CS 1.6 i think they need to invest money in CS 1.6 and make 1.6 a little better .. i think CS 1.6 need just a better graphic ... VALVE need to listen more to 1.6.. CS 1.6 players in CPH Games showed that they are better than the CS:S players [1.SK Gaming , 2.ESC Gaming]....

15$ is a very cheap price for a new game. Not that i want to overpay for the game, that, for one thing, has most of it's maps pretty much ported from it's predecessor, but i'm not sure if it's a good or a bad sign.

This is obviously going to go the exact same way as source. People will try play it and say how horrible and noob friendly it is and continue playing 1.6 hoping they finally get it right with CS2 after failing with (cs:cz, cs:source, cs:go)

i'm stunned with the general iq of cs community users...below average. You just log in to say "fuck source, fuck go , 1.6 for life while most of you aren't even good enough for public servers and you don't have the basic knowledge of the game. this guy said that we wont touch the other two gaming communities we're just try to make a game that is somewhere in the middle between 1.6 and source. Noone is killing 1.6 and noone said that go will be more 1.6ish. Valve is a company and they want to make money so they make a new game that is based on general counter-strike and it will target for a bigger group of players at all game formats (ps3,xbox360,pc) . thats all 1.6 isnt going to die because valve releases a new game but as it seems none of you has the basic critical ability to understand it :)

this is something that has to do with gaming organizations and gaming companies that organize tournament, not with valve. Community cant be afraid that they will lose cs 1.6 everytime a new game goes mainstream and competitive.

Chet, dude I know you love FPS and stuff, but you have to see all you are doing here is killing 1.6 Even though you are saying that this is a completely new game and it won't change a thing about 1.6 but it will accelerate death of CS as we know it and come to love over the years. Sponsors will obviously move onto new and graphically attractive games and put money in those games only thus killing old legends like 1.6 due to lack any kind of incentive take up 1.6 professionally. While this little game of yours will make you some initial money and die out just like Source did. But what do you care you guys will get your investment back anyways.

you obviously dont have a company do you?? you need to stay competitive in the market if you want to be successful. 1.6 is as 13 years old game they wont support it. and if i had a gaming company i wouldnt either. They could just close all the servers (like they did with 1.5) and every player in the world could play only cs:go but they didnt thats why cs isnt going to die. also you should not expect cs go to attract the companies crysis cod bf will do the job just fine :)
