ESC beat paiN to top group C

ESC Gaming have expectedly finished on top of group C at GameGune 2012 after defeating paiN 16-11 on de_train. The Brazilians will now meet with zNation once again to decide the second placed team in this group.

Thanks to defeating zNation in their first match of GameGune 2012, the only Brazilian team at the event, paiN, had a chance to top their group if things went their way against favorites ESC Gaming.

de_train was selected as the battling ground and paiN got to be CTs first. Despite of losing the pistol, the Brazilians' early buy in the third round gave result and they quickly turned the score around. However, they only held on to the lead for brief moments, and at the end of the half it was the Poles who were ahead 8-7.

ESC Gaming through as first with 2-0 streak

The second half started just as ESC would have wanted, as they upped their lead to 12-7. But the Brazilians weren't ready to roll over and give up, so they mustered up several rounds in a row and brought the score to 12-11. That was all they could accomplish though as ESC brought the match to a close in the next four rounds, with the final score 16-11.

zNation routinely overcame OverProject in the other group C match 16-0 on de_nuke, and therefore a rematch between the Russians and the Brazilians has been set up to decide the 2nd placed team in their group.

So this is the lurppis' tournament format? Pardon me for not reading all the news, but considering dreamteam, it can turn out somehow being better if people pick players that will have to play 3 matches in the groupstage and hope the selected ones will bring amounts of frags ... or will there be a map no.3 for ESC?

The only way to play 3rd match for a team is to lose one of the 2 they played before it. And loss generally means worse stats but then again it's entirely possible that one player does well even in the losing game. SO, it's a gamble, and it could be better or worse.

Thanks, thats exactly what it appeared to me, must admit my dreamteam would profit from ESCs 3rd groupstage match as having kuben and loord pays off
