fnatic, Virtus.pro and ESC advance
Second round of GameGune 2012's playoffs saw fnatic ridicule k23 in a 2-0 win, two of the top CIS teams clash with Virtus.pro coming out victorious 2-1 and ESC best out fellow Poles DELTA 2-0. Na`Vi versus zNation is expected to go live any minute.
In what has to be the most one sided map among two teams considered competitive by the average fan in recent history, fnatic demolished k23 on de_train by the largest possible margin, 16-0, with the entire Kazakhstani squad combining for eleven frags in the opening half.
The match was a lot more competitive after a switch to de_dust2 where k23 went up 9-4 with one favorable situation lost due to bad time management. fnatic won the final two rounds though and in the second half it was all fnatic as the Danish-Swedish team, led by Michael "Friis" Jørgensen in statistics, only lost one round before winning 16-10.
Battle for Russian supremacy took place as well with Virtus.pro jumping up to a 9-6 lead as terrorists on de_inferno. Multiple Desert Eagle round wins by tp.uSports brought the game back to its final round, but ultimately it was Aleksey "LeX" Kolesnikov's squad that came out on top.
On the second map the even play continued at first with the half ending 7-8 in Virtus.pro's favor as counter-terrorists, but tp.uSports once again led by Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov proved to be better in the second half and secured the map with a score of 16-12.
It all came down to de_tuscan where Virtus.pro had an extremely strong defensive half, scoring eleven rounds before switching sides. They won the second half pistol round as well, and as tp.uSports' force buys weren't succesful, closed out the series with a 16-6 win over their Russian rivals.
In the battle between Poland's finest, ESC struggled in the opening half as terrorists on de_nuke, only scoring five rounds. However, DELTA's happiness was short lived as the winners of IEM 6 WC fought back in the second half, only allowing them to score two rounds en route to a 16-12 comeback win.
Second map de_tuscan wasn't nearly as close though as it seemed as if the team tagging Golden Five, having completely forgotten about Lukasz "LUq" Wnek it seems, ran over their domestic competition, winning 11-4 in the first half as CTs and finishing the series with a 5-1 score as terrorists.
Natus Vincere is expected to go live against zNation in the final match of the second round any minute and the winner will meet ESC at 23:00 . fnatic will face Virtus.pro in the upper bracket semi-finals at the same time, 23:00 .
