CSPromod 1.09 release imminent

It looks as though CSPromod 1.09's release is close at hand, with the team discussing its imminent release this weekend.

A note posted on the official website by one of the developers yesterday states that the much-awaited 1.09 version is very close to release.

"1.09 is coming to a close. A meeting discussing the imminent release will be held this weekend, to finally set in stone a release date. Keep your eyes peeled, guys!"

Two weeks ago, the developers called upon the community to help them translate the game into as many languages as possible. The team has made quite some headway since.

The game has been completely translated into languages such as Albanian, Czech, Russian, Polish, Norwegian, Portuguese, Bulgarian and even traditional Chinese.

It has been speculated that the release date could be the 31st this month. Both 1.04 and 1.05, which were two pretty big releases, came on the last day of their respective months.

Stay tuned to HLTV.org as we will keep you updated as further information becomes known.

Why should i care about tournaments? My liking for a game doesnt depend upon which game is chosen by any tournament. I will play a game if its good. CSP is good and thats it. CSGO is shit so i wont play it. Simple. If i got 500 pounds ugly fat lady and Megan Fox and the fat lady is allowed to be a model for Victoria's Secrets, doesnt mean i will fuck the fatty, i will choose Megan Fox cuz you know why....

I didn't say GO is a great game. Its just better than CSP. I don't see any point of playing CSP if we have a great game like CS 1.6. If you think CS 1.6 is old and it must be changed alot (or replaced by CSP) please, GTFO. And your comparison was horrible, whatever you say.

How is GO better than CSP? Did you play both? Are you sure you like 1.6? I really can't imagine a 1.6 fan who prefers GO's game mechanics over CPS's gameplay. Why did you play 1.6 and not CSS?

About last question, CSS is crap. This game doesn't deserve CS title. CSP is more like Source than 1.6, you know that. Maybe movements and recoil is close to 1.6, but everything else = source

"CSP is more like Source than 1.6, you know that." WTF?! That's so wrong and it just proves you never played CSP. CSP has absolutely NOTHING in common with CSS (what isn't also a part of 1.6) expect some visual things which will be replaced soon. CSP gameplay is IDENTICAL to 1.6. The game is like 100% 1.6 and 0% CSS, while CS:GO is 2% 1.6 and 80% CSS and 18% new. It makes absolutely no sense to prefer GO over CSP, while you love 1.6 and hate CSS. That's pure nonsense. "but everything else = source" What is "everything else"? Name something.

Engine: Are you serious? CS:GO, Portal, dota2, TF2, CSS, ... they're all using the source engine, but they're completely different games. That's the most fucked up reason to refuse a game. Yes, CSS and CSP use the same engine. So what? Models: Wrong. They got their own models. The current models don't look that good, but they already made new models. Guns: They are still using the CSS guns, but they're working on new custom made gun models. What kind of reasons are these to trash-talk CSP? You love 1.6 and hate CSS, but you like CS:GO and hate CSP? That makes no fucking sense at all since CS:GO is just a revamped CSS while CSP got the same game mechanics as 1.6. It's just pure nonsense.

No evolution?!? Are you kidding me? I played all versions and if you play the 1.09 Alpha version after you played 1.05 (or and ever earlier version) it's like you're playing a whole other game. Like day and night. There was a huge evolution. You're only saying this because there wasn't so much visual change. But those changes will come.

Not the last version,, but yes. Sometimes it feels like 1.6(when shoting, moving and etc). But when you die or look at your hand (gun) or at textures you understand its bad mixture of Source and 1.6

that's the point of the game - it's a graphical update to cs 1.6. the gameplay is almost identical, while graphics are updated. i would honestly have no problem playing it based on the few hours i've tried it. it's a very good game.

there's no need for you to switch to it, but don't make up stuff like saying it's a source-like game or that it's not good or doesn't have cs 1.6's gameplay, because it does. cs 1.6 is at the end of its rope whether you like it or not, and i would personally much rather see csp played than cs:go or no cs at all.

No new features. Not free 2 play. Horrible graphics. Which one seems the better, and more attractive for you? "1.6 2STRONK" or what?

Who's the most annoying here? I mean... He's right about what he says. All these news about a upcoming CSP update IS quite useless, especielly when it is about CSP, and is brought to us by the CSP team. They have promised so much, and haven't sticked to it, even once. Give the community some concrete, instead of instantly (or the lack of it, let's say) giving us news of a game which has been on its way for, let's say 3-4 years?

Why is a news about the release of a new CSP version "useless"? Because you don't like the game? "especielly when it is about CSP, and is brought to us by the CSP team." What is that supposed to mean? "They have promised so much, and haven't sticked to it, even once." You're talking as if they owe you something. But they don't. It's not like you paid them or something. They give their best to create a great game for us and they do it for free. Delayed game-releases aren't even that unusual. Even big game-studios with thousand of employes got problem to bring their games out in time. Look at Diablo3, Duke Nukem, ...

The game is still in beta, so even what you have tried is still not final. How can you tell that a game is awesome, and so fantastic when it's not even close to finish? And if you don't even get what I mean with the first quote, I can't really see a reason to explain it. It's so obvious, especially when I continue writing what I mean by it. Why do everyone say I sound like they owe me something. They do not owe me anything, but they do owe the hole community something. Yes, the CSP team are doing this for free, but they gave a hole lot of CS 1.6 people hope, way to soon.. Now its been on the way for years, and the reason why all suddenly wants CSP so bad, is because of 1.6's upcoming end, and a future with GO (which absolutely is a game I absolute DO NOT like). But they still have a game release to fight with, compared to CSP.

"The game is still in beta, so even what you have tried is still not final. How can you tell that a game is awesome, and so fantastic when it's not even close to finish?" What? I shouldn't express my positive opinion about the current Beta version of CSP because the game could get worse till the first out-of-Beta-version? The direction of CSP's development is pretty clear and every update till now was a step in the right direction. If I like the current Beta, I will love the final version for sure. Their goal is written in stone: "CSP's goal is to bring the gameplay, feel, and competitive spirit of the original Counter-Strike to the Source engine, along with improved graphics and new features." That's from their website. "They do not owe me anything, but they do owe the hole community something." No, they don't owe anything to the community. " but they gave a hole lot of CS 1.6 people hope, way to soon.." Yes, that was a mistake and they know that. "the reason why all suddenly wants CSP so bad, is because of 1.6's upcoming end, and a future with GO" Not really. Some people may think that way, but a lot of people already wanted CSP long before CS:GO was announced (dunno about other communities, can only speak about the German community). The game got better and better and people like me, who were quite pessimistic till 2010, changed their opinion.

Okay, you're maybe right about they don't owe anyone anything, but they can't believe that the community will wait forever, no matter if it's a free game or a better/a remake of our beloved game 1.6. I'm pretty sure they have missed a lot of potential gamers (1.6 gamers, that is) due to a too long project time. At the last quote you'd commented, I want you to focus on the "suddenly" word, which makes your explanation not relevant. We all wanted CSP for a long time now, and yes, that includes the time before CS:GO, but after the CSP was announced and some "in game"-footage was released, it has certainly been more wanted than ever.

Of course they know it would have been better if the game would have been released earlier, but you know...they got limited resources and they work in their spare time. They gave their best and it's a lot (!) of work. Can't really blame them.

true dat joystiq.com/2012/04/06/nexon-valve-annou.. They're just a bunch of retards trying to get our cash with all these cs releases. Imo CSP is a worthy follow-up for 1.6 i think no one would disagree with that.

The point is that as a Beta i already like the game so much. The other day i've been playing CSP 1.09 DM Alpha with a friend and knowing that CSP 1.09 Beta will have cs1.6 sound spartialization, the only thing that makes CSP 1.09 Beta worst then Cs1.6 are the player models. As soon as new player models are made, i will prefer CSPromod over Cs1.6.

i agree with you. what does CSP solve? nothing. initially it was supposed to resolve the "aged" graphics. but, as of late sponsors/event holders stated graphical representation of a game is insignificant. the main appeal and marketing value of online gaming is the numbers... numbers of eyes. and old engines still bring the numbers

"old engines still bring the numbers" Not in central/west Europe. And I'm sure it's the same in North-America. The üroblem is: Kids won't spend their money on such an "ugly looking game" anymore. We got a huge lack of new players here. We need more players/viewers. When I was a kid everyone was playing CS in my school. Todays kids don't even know CS. CSP's graphics can't compete with games like BF3, but compared to CS 1.6 they are a huge improvement and most important: CSP is for free. As a f2p game it looks very good.

Fun thing is that people really started loving promod since CS:GO is in beta. Before that so many people we're hating on it. Promod won't become big because it takes too long. Adapt too CS:GO and it will become big :-)

Actually, if you go back to the 1.07/1.08 news you'll see some people saying how good the movement and the feel of the mod was, and that was before anyone had played the PC version of CS:GO (in showmatches or the beta)

The German community was already very positive towards CSP long before CS:GO was announced. The reason why a lot of people changed their opinion is simple: The game got better and better.

False... it's not even close to cs1.6 in CSP 1.08 Beta. However, it had been revamped for CSP 1.09 Beta. The maps had also been re-done to allow the same wallbangs 1.6 have while forbiden the wallbangs that were not present in cs1.6. The damage loss was also tweked among other things. As CSP followers we should not follow the game without seeing it's faults... we should see the faults and suggest how to make it better!

Honestly, as much as I love 1.6 / CSP, the diehards that browse this site have to realize that there will be 0 influx of players toward CSP if it were ever picked up and thus no decent tournaments or player base. A game gains popularity as the casual/new audience buy it - this will NOT happen with CSP as there is no way for this new generation to understand what the game is / how to access it. Also the CSP team doesn't have the funds to promote or advertise the title. How the fuck do you expect a bigger audience to become aware of such a title existing? I honestly question whether or not half of you know how the world works. The only hope for Counter-Strike in the near future is CS:GO, it's a sad reality because I'll miss 1.6 but CS:GO is at least improving. With further changes it'll be viable in the future. Stop being idiots and shooting yourselves in the foot by rejecting CS:GO.

They just have to bring it on Steam and keep it free2play. CS:GO is improving? Nice joke. There was 1 useful gameplay update in 12 months. Not even 1 month left till release and the game still plays and feels terrible. Gave it many changes but I just can't force myself to play it any longer.

That's an opinion. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings. The truth is that as a competitive eSport (that remains relevant) CS 1.6 will be dead at the very latest by the end of this year. I will still be playing the game that I love (1.6) with friends every now and then but as a competitive esport, it will be a ghost town. There is no denying that. Again, it saddens me that you guys fail to realize the fate of the game. It's not surprising though, you're blinded by your own ignorance.

Uhm, I agree with everything you said about 1.6's future. The only difference is: I don't see any future in CS:GO. The only way to survive for CS is a successful CSPromod and that's why I'm supporting it (otherwise I would just stick to 1.6).

we said that about OSP/vq3. Av3k Cypher came late into quake scene and they're the top 3 duelers in the world. All we need is the right influence and we could see players/teams that could match some of the achievements of the past if there was competitions :) In aus we should pick a title and stick with it overseas can get fucked I'd rather be called the greatest CSPM team ever than being rank 1500 on HLTV with my aussie pug

I was very interested in this project the first two years, but after that time, I began to think about this project as ridiculous and very unserious. If the CSP team was hoping on a financial support later on, time will tell that they propably had just shot themselves in their feet. I do really hope that CSP can do something for the community, and all these people who so much want it, but I hardly doubt it. But prove me wrong CSP team!

i'll be buying 2 SPANISH servers for beta 1.09. They are good enough for portugueses, at least i hope the new prediction system is as good as it seemed on dm alpha :D

Have they changed the sound when you hit someone trough walls in 1.09? Playing times to times CSP and its similar to 1.6 the only thing that's not right atm is maybe spraying with guns everything else is good. Looking forward to CSP

No... he meant the Bullet Impact Sound Effect that can be either None, 1.6 and Source. All of them sounds COMPLETLY wrong.

i dunno how the things are going , but they should done their own texture of the map , an stop using source design, the game need his own design to make a mark the fans , thats what i think , in terms of movement , shooting its great i have to say , but the game need seriusly a mark , and a big sponsor helping them to

blackaddR is already working on dust2 textures. It'll be the first map to be totally CSS-free (from dust2, inf, nuke and train) coming with CSP 1.1 (latter this year). facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=303319116434..
