Areena #2 by ROCCAT announced

After hosting the inaugural event last month with Aleksi "allu" Jalli's White squad coming out on top, Areena #2 by ROCCAT will take place on September 29 in Helsinki, Finland with over 1,500€ in prizes.

As the name suggests, this time the event's head sponsor is ROCCAT who have donated over a 1,000€ worth of prizes for the top three finishers. ESEA will also hand out free premiums, and all the sign up money will be given back in prizes.

Due to a renovation at the event's previous location Pelitalo, Areena #2 by ROCCAT will be able to host more teams and the sign up has been opened for up to thirty players willing to participate.

Similar to last time, the tournament will be ran in a gather-style format where the best players as deemed by community and admins will be selected as captains, and will then pick teams around themselves on the day of the event.

Areena returns to Pelitalo on September 29

Areena #2 by ROCCAT will begin with a six team group stage where no one drops out in order to give every team a chance to get some practice in for the playoffs, which will be ran in a double elimination best-of-one bracket.

You can find more information at Areena #2 by ROCCAT's Facebook page and if you're interested in participating in the event, you can sign up here. Signing up costs 15€ per player, and the entire 450€ purse will be given back in prizes.

Finally, even if you do not sign up in time, it's worth showing up to the event location, as the first two backup players will receive a free mousepad courtesy of ROCCAT. This is to ensure each team being full on the day of the event.

HLTV.org will once again provide coverage to Areena by listing hot matches and doing full statistics on the event. All HLTV and POV demos will furthermore be released as soon as the event is over.

even with 20 players we saw some low level "nonamers". if we had 16 teams (80 players)... would be embarrassing.

I think you'll see more of these "Do it yourself" type LAN events for CS 1.6 as more and more tournament organizers drop the game. So it will be up to the players (as it's pretty much always been) as to how long we keep competitive CS alive. It just won't be like the old days with numerous international events with big prize money.

Too bad we didnt have anyone hosting this kind of stuff back in 2006 when the scene was skyrocketing; noninvite, nonbyoc lans I mean. It's good for us 'nolife-gamers'. Hope you have the energy to host it again even when you're done with this AEC or get someone as your bitch to help hosting :)

this event is already after aec, i didn't really want to host it because i wanted a weekend off but i have some traveling in october and would have had to push it back too much, so in 2 weeks it is :p i'll try to host a few more at least, but if there aren't enough players left in cs 1.6 or possibly csp it won't be possibly; i have no interest in hosting a cs:go tourney
