ROCCAT secure CG Invite spot
ROCCAT are the second team to qualify for the upcoming CyberGamer Invite League. The Finns defeated the Danish squad PRIME with a 2-0 score (16-4 on de_dust2_se and 16-10 on de_nuke_ve) in the final of the second qualifier.
The upcoming CyberGamer Invite League was set to find its second member this week, as CyberGamer Qualifier Cup #2 by IN WIN took place from Monday through Thursday.
Last night the cup reached its final match, after PRIME defeated Mistral in a very close semi-final series that went down to the last round of the third map. Awaiting them were former Finnish CS:Source stars playing under the ROCCAT name, as they defeated Swedish tcM a day earlier in their semi-final.
Somewhere around 22:40 yesterday the grand final began on de_dust2_se, with ROCCAT on the T side. The Finns started out strongly, winning the first half 12-3 and not long after that getting to a 16-4 win and a 1-0 lead overall.
Second map was de_nuke_ve, and this time PRIME put up a better fight, even getting into an early lead as CTs. But ROCCAT showed that they are the better of two teams at this moment, firstly turning the score around as the first half ended 8-7 in the Finns' favor, and then safely bringing the match to an end with a 16-10 final result.
ROCCAT's lineup in the final:
Juha "aNGeldusT" Kurppa
Taneli "disturbed" Veikkola
Olli "kononen" Salmi
Marko "MAKKE" Mattila
Tom "stonde" Glad
ROCCAT now join Blight Gaming as they become the first two teams in the 16-team Invite league by CyberGamer that will give out 1,750€ in prize money. Two more spots will be handed out to the best teams of the Qualification Ladder that is already ongoing, while the remaining 12 teams will be handpicked by the organizers. The full composition of the Invite league will be known sometime next week.
