HastaLaVista qualify for Thor Open

HastaLaVista has won the first Fragbite Thor Open qualifier by defeating BZSX 25-23 in the grand finals. They are the first team to qualify for the 15,320€ tournament in Stockholm two months from now.

The Danes took down eastGamers, LoathE, ICANSEEU and most notably the mTw team who removed Johan "face" Klasson earlier today, on their way to the grand finals which took place on de_train_se.

BZSX surprised many while garnering some cheating accusations as they flew by AfterShock Crushed, CAI-Gaming, iN7-eSport, Swedish Team X and Spanish bemyFRAG before the loss at the hands of HLV.

Grand final saw HLV rack up 15 rounds as defenders, only to see BZSX do the exact same and force overtime. That prompted members of HLV to say it's obvious BZSX are cheating, but the match went on.

HastaLaVista members openly accused BZSX of cheating

Both teams continued dominating as counter-terrorists, and it took 44 rounds of play before HLV won the first round as a terrorist in the entire match. It proved to be enough, as the Danes strolled through another 3-0 CT half to win 25-23.

HLTV.org reached out to HastaLaVista after the game, but they chose not to comment on the cheating accusations until admins make a decision on the matter.

Asked about the heavily CT sided match, team captain Casper "ruggah" Due said de_train_se isn't a popular map among top teams so no one has cracked the terrorist side yet, and due to its differences to the CS 1.6 and CS:S versions the old strategies don't work well either.

HLV has also recently defeated WinFakt and made their way to the semi-final of ESWC Nordic qualifier, so we asked Due to comment on their recent good form:

"We are in a good run at the moment and hopefully we can secure a spot in the ESEA ESWC qualifier sometime next week. We are a driven and ambitious team, which gives an even better feeling winning tournaments like this one, where a lot of good teams signed up to try and beat us."

"We will be looking forward to attending the event and we will do everything in our power, to try and stop the mighty Bananas in Pyjamas. We are still in search for an organization, feel free to contact us at [email protected]"

The brackets for the tournament were a joke, several top teams in the lower part of the bracket (Millenium, HLV, mTw, FM! TOXiC and more), whilst there were only a few notable teams in the upper part of the bracket.

In a tournament like this, you have to win against everybody you meat. So the brackets doesnt matter, but I agree that it were some strange brackets. - MSL

Yeah, I see what you mean, but from a spectating point of view it makes it boring as you miss out on very good matches. The second point is that as it is a bo1, good teams from the upper bracket would have had a much easier way to the final than in the lower bracket. With BZSX everything was fucked up anyway though :p
