f0rest MVP of DH Valencia

Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg has been selected as Most Valuable Player of DreamHack Valencia 2012 by HLTV.org's community. The former CS 1.6 superstar led NiP to the title at the first international CS:GO tournament, and he also leads our All-Star lineup along with three of his teammates and VeryGames' youngster Kenny "kennyS" Schrub.

It's been a little over two weeks since DreamHack Valencia ended, so it is finally time to present the MVP and All-Star lineup of the event voted by our community.

We gathered around 1400 votes in our Top players article, and those votes constituted 70% of the overall result. The other 30% came from several "experts", which on this occasion proved to not make much impact as the public was very adamant in their choice.

Most Valuable Player

In the fight for Most Valuable Player it was always clear that NiP's Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg would come out on top, having received 68% of the public's votes. Kenny "kennyS" Schrub was a distant second among our users, while Richard "Xizt" Landström was actually selected by two of the three experts.

f0rest starts off his CS:GO career with an MVP award from DH Valencia

It was an easy choice for most people, as Lindberg was the best fragger of the tournament with 150 kills (0.96 per round), and even though he made more impact in the group stage, he still played well in every single map, including the last one of the tournament when he topped the scoreboard (27:17 score, 1.31 rating) to help NiP clinch the title.

In addition to that he was the best rifler, had by far the best kill-death difference of +70, second most headshots (69) and was the second hardest to kill (0.51 deaths per round).

MVP of DreamHack Valencia 2012:

All-Star lineup

The All-Star lineup selection demonstrates just how dominant Ninjas in Pyjamas were at this tournament since four players from their team were picked. From 2nd placed team VeryGames only Kenny "kennyS" Schrub made it into the fictional lineup.

All-star lineup of DreamHack Valencia 2012:

Sweden Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg (NiP)
Sweden Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund (NiP)
Sweden Richard "Xizt" Landström (NiP)
France Kenny "kennyS" Schrub (VeryGames)
Sweden Adam "friberg" Friberg (NiP)

The MVP as per usual leads the All-Star lineup selections as well, with Lindberg receiving 96 of the possible 100 points. Close behind is his teammate Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund, who most didn't see as competition to Lindberg in the MVP vote, but he was almost everyone's pick in the All-Star vote.

Best aimer of the tournament and the best rated player in the playoffs, Richard "Xizt" Landström was the third most often selected, while the best AWPer Kenny "kennyS" Schrub from VeryGames was another unavoidable pick with 80 points.

The last place was a tossup between public's picks Adam "friberg" Friberg and Robin "Fifflaren" Johansson and expert's Edouard "SmithZz" Dubourdeaux, and in the end the choice came down to the tournament's best entry killer Friberg.

1.6 players making the transition to CSS would always quickly come out a notch higher than the level they played on in 1.6, so should not be a surprise if 1.6 top players beat source top players, and if medium 1.6 players beat medium source players in CSGO after a short while of intense practice. but let´s be fair, the gap was not too huge. I see verygames getting the better of NiP in a few of their encounters, although overall NiP should win a majority of their matches for sure

I hope you're kidding, VeryGames raped everyone in Source and they got raped by NiP, a team in its majority formed by 1.6 players alongside a couple of non-tournament winner Source players. The 1.6 players carried NiP even though they are new to the Source engine. The difference is big and it has been confirmed many times in the past, maybe you just don't want to see it. But then again, the 1.6 players are winning the tournaments, the Source players are not. CPH Games: SK Gaming > ESC > all including mousesports, the team that won the source tournament ESWC USA qualy: 4Not (a 1.6 mix) 2-0'd Dynamic, the best Source team in USA. DH Valencia: NiP 2-0'd VG, the best source team in history.

Wouldn't say VG were "the best source team in history", that still belongs to Fnatic.

Let's be honest, and I'm sure the majority of Source players would agree, but VeryGames were dominant because of various factors within the game. There is a reason why they won so many events, they were one of the few teams salaried for a long time post CGS, they had been well drilled when most teams would pretty much half assed turn up to some big events and train for a week or two before as there were always issues. Fnatic were dominant pre CGS and during the first season of CGS before they were split up for the second season. Two different era's to the game, two different goals and two very different landscapes to the scene at that time. Not taking away how brilliant VeryGames are, but I personally wouldn't say they were the best team in CS:S history. To your other points, I believe you are jumping the gun anyway, because if you feel that a small side tournament at CPH where all teams were really concentrating on their own respective games at the time, and a small tournament in general with only VG & NiP as the "big fish" is a way to say that 1.6 players beat Source players, then let's remember the fact that VG were at a CS:S LAN the weekend before, and only had around 40 hours each on CSGO (compared to NiP's 150 - 200 hours each). The real tests will be at ESWC & DreamHack Winter.

I don't think there's enough 1.6 representants though, most teams are not taking CSGO as seriously as NiP and most pro teams should. just look at fnatic, ESC, ex-m5 and others, they are still playing 1.6 as their main game.

Ive always been a fan bout f0rest :), ive even played an allstar match with him on my team in Bilbao which made my opinion over him even better. The reason I find him the best is that he never shows any ego or personality problems, unlike Get right who acts like a immature child in general, always caring about his reputation and frags, which is fine, but u don't have to show it to the people, being humble, he never heared of that. So players without emotions (like forest) are mentally the most stable and it prooves again that I was right bout the guy :) ciao and grats Patrik, u da man tbh :)

6 years after his definite international superstar breakthrough, he is still one of the best in both 1.6 and CSGO. insane. anxious to see neo go full throttle despite his dislike of CSGO, I hope he will put in the same effort as he did in CS1.6 (well, at least before big events)

People talking about neo are just mentally handicapeds. Neo will NEVER be the player he was in 1.6, EVER. And theres 1 simple reason behind it: He doesnt enjoy the game. If someone doesnt even like to play a game and prefers spending hours playing LoL, its obvious he wont get to that level he had in 1.6.

Not a surprise really, Source scrubs changed from 1.6 to Source because they weren't good enough for 1.6, so isn't it obvious that the best 1.6 player (or at least one of the three best players) would also be the best CS:GO player, despite the fact that the game sucks ass.

so pity on him and nip... can't be the best in 1.6, then they run to CS:GO, so lame... wait until na'vi, esc, or even fnatic beat the crap out of them, if they want to switch to this bullshit of CS...
