Xizt: "Hope to meet VG in the semis"

We caught up with Ninjas in Pyjamas in-game leader Richard "Xizt" Landström following his team's 16-5 victory against mousesports on the ESWC stage.

The Swedish team had already secured passage into the ESWC semi-finals after winning their first three group matches, but the victory against the German giants means that they go through as the top team from Group A.

As such, they have earned the right to play against the second-placed team from Group B, which is currently being played.

In this interview, Landström talks about NiP's campaign in the group stage, the possible semi-final match-ups and also his team's current level of form.

Your team beat mouz 16-5 in the last group match. Did you expect such an easy game?

I expected a tougher game. We played dust2, which is our worst map, to try it out, because yesterday we had only played nuke inferno, so they could not anti-strat us. We wanted to play on this map and it worked out great for us.

You managed to get four victories in what was considered to be the 'Group of Death'. Did you expect to win all the matches?

We kind of expected it, but I would not call our group the hardest, I think the other group is harder. It has the Polish guys, who are amazing, they just won their first two matches, and VeryGames are also there, too.

You will face the team that places second in Group B, and it looks like it is going to be a battle between VeryGames and ESC Gaming for the top two places in that group. Who would you like to meet?

I hope that I will play against VeryGames in the semi-finals. I think it would be amazing to play against the Polish guys in the final, if we manage to go through.

What do you think about ESC? Did you practice against them before this tournament?

I have not practiced against them for like two months, so I have no idea. I have heard that they are doing okay in practice, but they are a different team on LAN, because they have so much experience.

Your team came out on top of DreamHack Valencia some weeks ago. Do you think that you are a better team now, considering VeryGames are also in this tournament?

Yes, we have improved a lot and we are playing better, for sure.

He doesn't have any and you will see that vs NiP :))) Their own skill? I would say kennyS was the only one who is in his usual form with the awp.
