WCG 2012 with $40,000 in CSO

WCG has announced a $40,000 prize purse as well as the groups for its Counter-Strike: Online tournament taking place in Kunshan, China on November 29-December 2.

World Cyber Games fell largely out of the spotlight when they announced their event would not feature Counter-Strike this year, although they later on added a side tournament in CS: Online.

TyLoo keeps racking up money in CS:O, they now have a chance at $25,000

They have now announced a massive $40,000 prize purse for the side tournament in the free-to-play micro-payment version of Counter-Strike, only available in certain parts of Asia.

With ten teams participating, the tournament will begin with two groups of five that will see the top two teams in each group advance to the single elimination best-of-three bracket.

Group A Group B
China TyLoo China ZINCTHAI
Taiwan UMX Indonesia Executioners
Singapore Bovines Malaysia Team LZ
Hong Kong Ti-eSports Thailand NearlyGod
Korea Hydeer Japan TBA

The prize purse at World Cyber Games 2012 grand final in Kunshan is as follows:

1. $25,000
2. $10,000
3. $5,000

HLTV.org will keep you updated with World Cyber Games 2012 although HLTVs will not be an option for the event, as CS: Online has no spectator client.

cso? lol.

That doesn't matter. A World championship is of course a world championship, but since it's a side tournament, and that eSport isn't flooded with money, they can't really spoil the players of a non-main tournament. Maybe you should get some common sense.

Valve sell a cs1.6 cdkey for just 15$ ,then nothing . But as a online game , guns / grenades / all weapons must be purchased by cash if you want to use them in the game , only knife is free . So... asian players consumes millions of dollars per day in this game just won't pay 15$ for cs1.6. Smart Asians.... you win ! Valve sucks...

I don't know why europeans here hate this game so much . in my opinion this game still better than CS:S or CS:GO

Considering Promod is very identical to 1.6 and CS:O being basically 1.6 with a few tweaks, I presume you haven't played anything else but CS:GO. You wouldn't come up with a retarded comment like that tryin to differentiate 1.6 and Promod like Promod is something completely different. Would have made sense if you had said "CS:O is bad? LOL, its still better than Source and CS:GO." Which on many levels actually makes sense.

CSO=CS1.6-rates and u need to unlock the weapons before u can buy them in game.also u can buy knifes which have diffrent damage... so CSO is no that good when compared to GO,PROMOD and no even close to 1.6

You do realise unlocking weapons, change of rates, change of damage etc are considered 'minor tweaks' in developing point of view, no matter how much difference they might make to someone's game play. When did I ever say that CS:O is better than Promod? Also, you consider CS:O worse than CS:GO because of the 'changes' you mentioned above, yet CS:GO is somehow considered good to have even more ridiculous changes. Changes in CS:O are NOTHING compared to CS:GO. In that context, CS:O is actually much better than CS:GO.

It seems like no one understands it so here we go once: the developer of CSO probably paid for the entire prize purse. Below is a list of tournaments where Valve has helped at all with the prize purse in history of CS, CS:CZ, CS:S and CS:GO: - That's why this tournament has CSO, and no other CS title.

This is not true. I can't say what Valve has done or not done historically, but i know for a fact they work with a model where they "guarantee" a prize-purse to the organizer. They have done it once this year and will do it again before this year has ended. Can't say if they will continue doing it in the future, but know for a fact regarding these two events.

Well the same goes for you. As you may undestand i can't give you any written or otherwise visual proof in this forum. Send me a PM and i'll give you all the info you need. People in here put a lot of trust in sources of your stature, myself included. Your words become the truth instantly and that makes it even more important for you to stick to "facts" only when they are facts. A simple "afaik" would have added a much needed reasonable doubt.

That is totally understandable. I think noone is expecting you to do that kind of research. But that was not my point. My point was that you didn't know if they had contributed or not. You made it sound as if you were 100% sure they didn't. If you had expressed even the slightest doubt i would not have commented at all.

given the fact more people have already replied here suggests that it did indeed help, as more people have seen it. thank you for your concern. cso uses a micropayment model similar to league of legends' so the developers do indeed make money from sales within the game.

you have no idea how is CS:O famous here. It's like LoL there.. ads are everywhere and even 7 years old kid spend their money buying useless ingame ultra weapon on it. you have no idea how people are selling their "maximum level"-character on CS:O .. you have no idea of what "counter strike" has been here.. you have no idea... I'd rather have no CSO than having to go to empty scrim server on 1.6.

CSO is a shitting game in China ok ？ Just an shiting Online game , most of the weapons are "locked" by default, money are essential to purchase them(ak/m4a1/grenade/smoke ). Most weapons , skins, power-ups, etc. can be purchased with cash . A variety of other special items can also be bought with cash as well. Stupid guys spend a lot of money for the game. So high prize in WCG promote this sucking game.

Do you guys get that 99% of the comments on this site are about "which cs is better" flamewar and no one actually comments the news? Instead of promoting your neighborhood try to enjoy the good news! Who cares if it's 1.6, GO, Source or Online? Everytime a new article is posted you put an effort into reminding everyone your taste about these games... Is that SO necessary? It's CS guys, and it would be so much better if we liked every game instead of feeling superior to others just because 1.6 rather than Source or whatever...

hydeer is new rising team, but international matches is none. VS project_kr matches was only one victory(include practics matches) that's way KOREA CSO represent final match (2:0 win) i think hydeer early drop out WCG 12.

It seems totally dumb for me. Why don't they play 1.6 then?! For me WCG and their organisiers are retarded as f***.

If you guys didn't figure it out WCG is lead by a bunch of sell outs that don't care about games at all. They just care about the $£€.

Nexon probably put a fair amount of money out there to have their game featured at WCG. I think the main reason why WCG is supporting neither 1.6 nor GO is because 1.6 was on its way out by the time the WCG qualifiers started, and GO was still very new, so nobody knew whether it would turn out well or not. I wouldn't be surprised to see GO as a main game at next year's WCG.

A terrible game. Simply terrible. One might think this's CS 1.6 clone game. But with rate 5000, updaterate 30, cmdrate 30, you're playing a TOTALLY different game. Spraying is literally impossible. The bullets simply go into 'matrix' mode. Don't ask about tapping, you might as well bang your head against the wall and cut a horse penis while you're at it. Another thing is the stupid rule where you can't use cl_minmodels 1 in tournament. Basically, in CSO, you're able to buy certain characters / models / weapons with real money. It's very annoying to play against people who buy the 'woman' character since the model has smaller head and smaller body shape than the regular 1.6 model. These models really make you miss your shots more. Some models blend with the maps texture so well, for example on nuke outer side, that most of the times you barely spot them as you usually do in 1.6. Either you're a casual or competitive gamer, this game is one big rip-off game that 'force' you to buy these useless things (like models, weapons, etc.) with real money. The only good thing is the developer (Nexon) willing to put their money for tournament prize. But the GAME itself, is rubbish! If you're still not convinced, just go to DH next week and ask any fnatic players directly.

WCG is wasting their money and time, nobody will watch these matches. They could have invited more clans and have CSGO in the tournament.
