THOR admins on WRTT controversy
The THOR Open admins have released a statement to shed some light on the controversial ban of WRTT in last weekend's qualifier.
The Swedish team put together a statement on Sunday evening to explain that the infamous .txt file that had earned them disqualification was not the order confirmation of a cheating software, but "a joke".
WRTT also stated that since the admins could not find any evidence that the team cheated by looking at the players' demos, there was nothing to support their ban, which saw ESC Gaming progress to the semi-finals.
The THOR Open organisation has now publicly commented on this matter for the first time, explaining that WRTT's disqualification was solely based on the fact that the admins had lost their trust in the team.
"Yesterday we took the decision to disqualify WRTT from the sixth qualifier to THOR Open. The conflict was born after the mix team beat ESC Gaming with 16-0 and NiP Gaming with 16-11, creating strong accusations against the mix team from both top players as well as players of lower establishment.
This made us watch 430 rounds in total, all WRTT demos from both matches, without finding anything suspicious enough to convict the team. We're not saying there were no questionable moments, just nothing suspicious enough for them to be disqualified.
Though, during this conflict, a text document saying that the WRTT player Jesper "jw" Wecksell had indeed purchased cheats from the famous cheat-developer "Organner.pl" appeared on his personal stream. Wecksell immediately hid the VOD, making it even more suspicious. In the heat of the moment, also considering all the accusations and questionable situations in the demos, we lost our trust towards the team and disqualified them.
We did have in mind that this text file might had been part of a joke, and we are not saying they cheated. What we're saying is that the .txt and the hiding of the stream VOD resulted in them not being trustworthy enough to go through.
In hindsight this decision might have been made a bit too rationally, not really letting Wecksell defend himself in the end. We want to give our sincere apologies for that, but the ruling still stands and we are not in any way hiding our decision.
Best regards,
THOR Open CS:GO Officials"
This means that WRTT's ban stands and that ESC Gaming will take on Ninjas in Pyjamas at 19:00 to decide who will be the second finalist of the qualifier, after VeryGames also reached the tournament decider.
