mouz advance over fnatic

Mousesports have defeated fnatic 16-14 on de_dust2_se in an extraordinary clash in Group A's decider at DreamHack Winter. The Brits will advance to the playoffs as second placed ahead of the Danes, while NiP expectedly topped the group with all three victories.

The deciding match of Group A, in which mousesports needed only a draw due to already having better round difference, was played on de_dust2_se with fnatic starting on the Terrorist side.

The Danes continued where they left off in their previous clash with ESC by winning their 3rd pistol round in a row and that brought them a 3-0 advantage early on.

However, as soon as mousesports saved up money for the big guns they came back into the game, starting with an excellent 4-kill round by James "Mx" Smale and then equalizing the score at 3-3.

The seventh round of the match came down to the wire with Andreas "MODDII" Fridh holding on in a 1-on-3 just long enough for c4 to explode in the last second. Round after that mousesports had another favorable situation, this time in the B bombsite, but Fridh again stepped up and won a 1-on-2 to put his team up 5-3.

After an eco by mouz, yet another amazing round came along, this time with Michael "Friis" Jørgensen in the starring role. One of the best AWPers from the CS 1.6 era was left alone in a 1-on-2 situation and he managed to take out both opponents with the big green, giving his team another close round win for 7-3.

Friis showed glimpses of his AWP skill in CS:GO

Despite of losing so many rounds they shouldn't have, mousesports kept their spirits up and they stringed three rounds in a row, two of which came after 2-on-3 and 2-on-4 situations, to get back on the scoreboard 8-6.

In the last round of the half, fnatic was in serious money problems, but they still managed to pull off a successful attack to go up 9-6.

Moving into the second half, the UK squad quickly faced a 3-on-5 situation, but 4-kills from Sam "RattlesnK" Gawn, including a 1vs1, gave his team the very important round that eventually led to a 9-9 result.

As fnatic saved up money for the big guns, they decided to play with two AWPs and it paid off, bringing them the next three rounds and a 12-9 lead, as we witnessed some nice kills by Finn "karrigan" Andersen.

However, that was all they managed to accomplish in this match, as from that point on mousesports grinded out round after round, most of which ended with fnatic trying to save weapons. Eventually, the Brits came up to match point at 15-12 and that practically meant game over as they were through with even the 1 point.

mousesports came back from 8-3 and 12-9 deficits to go through

The teams still played it out and the final score stood at 16-14 in favor of mousesports, putting them through to the playoffs with 6 points in second placed.

well as long as their aiming skills, they obviously transformed in to GO for the most part(seen them on DM).. and fnatic's old 1.6 strats worked some of the way atleast on d2. great play by them and yes I had even had MODDII in my DT which did rly pay off. but yeah, it's still a surprise nevertheless I was kind of expecting them to cause some upsets or even advance from this group.

Played bad online against some randoms. Anyone who knows their background in css and LAN xp knew they would pass the group. Like I said before, this lurrpis noob even predicted them last after fnatic, even though fnatic didn't even play cs:go yet. What does that tell you?

'Anyone who knows their background in css and LAN xp knew they would pass the group.' They have just changed 2 players, so that's kind of irrelevant. Plus I bet for a FACT fnatic have a better background in 1.6. The only things we had to go off was that they have just changed 2 of their players, after getting some bad results. and with their new team, they lost 16-4 or 16-6 to redzone afaik. Don't get upset about it, I'm just saying there was enough reasons around for people to lose their confidence in mouz.

Say what? Did not read previews but i expected esc last, and i give both navi and fnatic better odds to reach a decent go level Look at the average age and amount of time spent playing at the very top of the world, in 1.6 their exp could have kept these 5 guys top5 world, but I doubt esc has the motivation needed to strt all over in a new game and be the best again. Doubts about navi aswell though they may still have the hunger needed BTW that doesnt mean I expect esc last in the group again next tourney, they will get a lot better in the next months. I just think fnatic will improve faster (so far faster than I even imagined, despite lack of prep time playing very well against everyone in the group)

They played for 3 weeks. But mouz also came closer than anyone to draw with NiP. I guess that means fnatic are at the same individual skill as NiP? You are an ape brain. They played fnatic on d2, which is a map which has changed the least in terms of coming frm 1.6 -> cs:go. And it is also the map any decent team can get 7+ rounds against a stronger team. Learn to counter-strike please

I'm from source and D2 is pretty much the same in GO and Source by the looks of it. But for some odd reason Terrorists are much stronger on D2 in GO than they were in Source. There isn't any changes at all to B site, but it's way easier to overtake in GO. Cheers ;)

Sourcers simply cant adapt. NIP needs to cut friberg and fifflaren in couple of months when NAVI has practiced 2-3 months, otherwise those two will be NIPs end. Get_right, F0rest and expecially xizt with his magnificent gamereading, stratcalling skills are carrying NIP, but they are doing it in a very impressive fashion.

well 5days is NOTHING.. it wouldve been quite the same result without even trying go at all.. besides using the new GO boosts here and there they used 1.6 strats most of the time. the famous fnatic d2 pistol round STILL caught mousesports off guard on tunnels.. mby they thought they wouldnt use that on GO or they just didnt know about it since they'r source players.

Im not blaming prediction. After all its prediction so it can be wrong or right. Thats what prediction is all about right ? Im blaming his logic. There is not any possible reason to rank Fnatic or ESC over mousesports atm...but what is biggest joke his prediction for mousesports.... There isnt just any reason or logic behind it. Ecpect that hes so much 1.6 ganboi and biased... Ofc except nip 1st - but lets be honest everybody can predict that...

Nah, I think he didn't expect so good results from mouz since their previous performances weren't that good. He isn't 1.6 biased, but if you look at ESC previous results it's not a joke to put them on 2nd place. It's hard to guesstimate how a team you haven't seen play will do as he said on the preview.

for gods sake its just a prediction which is like a coinflip most of the time if theres quite equal teams in the group. he place NiP in the first place as expected cause they've been one step above others. B group can be messed up cause no one really is a clear favorite to take the first place and no one knows how well the teams in group B have prepared for the tournament. common sense, use it.

ESC is low, easy to shoot versus them? That proves that he can only shoot versus someone who is lower than him.

If he's able to call strats which make moddii, friis, trace and karrigan frag the 5 oponents, I'll be ok with that.

From all players in Group A moddii impressed the most in my opinion. Lot of clutches 1vsX and great aim on all 3 matches.

he was just behind moddii against NiP Trace on the other hand was the worst against NiP, and second to worst against mouz... poor performance from him.

ridiculous guys that play GO in a competitive way during 8 months getting sush a close result against guys that played GO during 2/3 weeks. Also ridiculous that fnatic, a team that played all together for 5 days getting a 16-14 result against a team that is "skilled as hell" and are familiar with the engine
