ESC off to Prague; $20k guaranteed

Heaven Media has announced that ESC Gaming have joined the participants' list for the AMD Sapphire CS:GO tournament, which now features $20,000 in prizes.

The Polish giants are now the seventh team confirmed for the Czech tournament, which will run from December 1st through 4th at the Corinthia hotel in Prague.

ESC Gaming will be hoping to finally make their mark in the CS:GO scene after crashing out of ESWC and DreamHack Winter in the group stage.

Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas recently admitted to being "ashamed" of the way the team played in Jönköping after they finished rock bottom of their group following defeats to Ninjas in Pyjamas, mousesports and fnatic.

Will ESC finally succeed in GO?

Despite comments in some quarters suggesting that the team should retire or undergo roster changes, Wojtas stressed that the so-called 'Golden Five' will stick together and prove their critics wrong.

The team list for AMD Sapphire now looks as follows:

France VeryGames Russia dAT Team
Slovakia myDGB.NET Portugal k1ck
Russia zNation Sweden NiP
Poland ESC Gaming

Meanwhile, it has been announced that the League of Legends tournament has been cancelled due to the limited number of teams who expressed an interest in attending the event.

As a result, the prize money of the CS:GO tournament has been doubled to $20,000, although the exact distribution of this figure has not yet been announced.

if u read it again it actually looks like ESC attending the event and $20k guaranteed which means suppose there are 1st 2nd 3rd place prizes and 3 teams participating and 3rd place prize is $20k

No, that's not the meaning of it. I told you in previous post and you must know that: Semicolon is used to separate two independent sentences In this case, author tells us two different things. First one, ESC Gaming is going to participate on this event, and second that event now features $20,000 in prizes.

dont have a reason? the title itself is the reason if u r reading it for 1st time...it will actually mean "ESC Attending prague event and guarantee themselves $20k" i.e they are going to attend and will get $20k even if they finish last

dude, you're not getting it! First point: The semi-colon It means the part after it has nothing to do with the part before it, therefore they are independent. As such, you can't conclude that ESC has 20k$ garanteed because that's not what it says. On the other hand it's very common to say XX$ garanteed as a meaning for minimum total prize pool available. Specially in tournaments that don't have a fixed number of attendance in which prize pool can vary. So, to conclude, i don't find the title misleading at all

agree with u, although there is a semicolon in betn but the title is really misleading as it only consists 1. Esc gaming 2. $20k guaranteed and yeah my first expression was "wow esc participating with already a guaranteed $20k prize" however it wasnt to be after reading the post completely, in fact they seem to be earning big 0 in this tournament once again since we can already see big giants in the team list edit: hltv.org/news/9630-rush3d-spoil-navis-de.. Na`Vi's CS:GO campaign started as the CS 1.6 one did; with a loss i think even there is a semicolon in betn above two sentences but they r inter related

do you find it plausible that there would be a cs:go tournament in prague with $20k for the 3rd placer(the 1st prize at dh was $22,7k), where only three teams would attend? the title could've been worded better, but jesus christ, we are actually allowed to use our brains.

dude if the title was "MD Sapphire CS:GO tournament; $20k guaranteed" then yeah we would have understood that the tournament consists the prize money of $20k but here we ve "ESC off to Prague; $20k guaranteed" that just tells esc is guaranteed with $20k prize even if they come last in the tournament. My advice would be "Esc off to Prague; $20k tournament"

I haven't seen a max number listed anywhere in the news published so far. As there was also a 5k bonus depending on the number of attending teams I presume once the organizers see a decent number of teams listed they will call it a day.

I unfortunately have no details on how to access the venue. I recall though a comment by a Czech user that visitors were allowed. You might want to review the news pieces published on this event and see if you are lucky to find info on it among the comments. Sorry for not being able to be of better help.
