NorthCon 2012NiP ease past CPLAY into final
Ninjas in Pyjamas are through to the Grand Final of NorthCon 2012 following a 2-0 victory over CPLAY in the semi-finals.
The first map of the tie was de_inferno_se, where CPLAY came out the brighter, winning the pistol round as Terrorists following a rush onto the A bombsite. However, a buying option from NiP in the second round allowed the Swedish side to level the game on one round.
NiP were now in a comfortable situation as far as the money system is concerned, and they proved their superiority in gun play, winning the next five rounds to make it 6-1. Some rounds were then exchanged between the two sides, but NiP never took their foot back off the gas as they were up 11-4 when they switched to the T side.
In the pistol round, NiP's players looked somewhat helpless on the map, taking a lot of damage early on, and when they finally managed to enter the A bombsite, there was simply no time left for them to plant the bomb. The following two rounds also went CPLAY's way, but as soon as NiP had the money to go on full buy, they were simply too hot to handle as they ran out 16-7 winners to take the lead in the tie.
GeT_RiGhT: The MAG-7 master
The second map was none other than de_nuke_ve, which NiP have been playing a lot during this tournament. CPLAY started out on the Terrorist side and took the lead early on, going straight into the Lower bombsite in the pistol round. As they watched NiP's players rotate, the Danish team went straight into the Upper bombsite, where they easily defended the bomb.
In the second round, Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund pulled off what was without a doubt one of the most jaw-dropping actions in CS:GO to date, taking down no fewer than five opponents with the MAG-7 when his team were in a 2on5 situation.
NiP now went on a full buy strategy, and they took full control of proceedings thanks to some aggressive play and some early picks, which prompted them to take a commanding 14-1 lead at the break.
In the second half, CPLAY were once again the better side in the pistol round, but a buying option from NiP right after put them just one round away from winning the game before they sealed the deal with an impressive 16-2 victory.
