Curse win LanTrek 2013

Curse has managed to win LanTrek 2013, their debut with Timi "aslak" Verkkoperä, by defeating NeRdS-GoNe-WiLd 2-1 (16-12 de_dust2_se, 11-16 de_nuke_ve, 16-9 de_mirage_csgo) in the grand final.

Curse struggled  throughout the day as they started both the quarter-final versus MOV3MBER, and the semi-final versus FR34KSHOW, by losing the first map in the best-of-three series.

MOV3MBER took down Curse 16-9 on de_nuke_se, lost de_dust2_se 12-16 and then went on to lose de_mirage_csgo 14-16 after bringing the score all the way back to 14-14 from trailing 1-10.

The semi-final saw Curse drop de_dust2_se 8-16 with a 0-9 second half against FR34KSHOW, but then score two easy wins on de_nuke_ve and de_mirage_csgo, losing only twelve rounds total.

aslak's team struggled but won their first domestic event in the end

NeRdS-GoNe-WiLd had an easier route to the grand final, defeating both eastGamers and Team Menace.fi without dropping a map, although they did surrender fourteen rounds twice.

Strong play by Timo "reflex" Rintala and Joona "natu" Leppänen carried the rest of their squad over the finish line on de_dust2_se, which Curse won 16-12 after being up 14-3.

Timi "aslak" Verkkoperä's new team was then completely shut down on de_nuke_ve, where they went down 1-13 as terrorists. NeRdS-GoNe-WiLd won the pistol round as well, but weren't able to close the map out until 11-16.

Final map looked to be easy for Curse as they went up 9-4 as defenders, but final two rounds gave NGW a little hope. In the end the favorites came through, winning de_mirage_csgo 16-9 to clinch the LanTrek title.

Prolly Finland's greatest ive noticed when it comes down to raw AWP skill. But not enough to beat Delpan, for sure. freshmind you here (?) i wanna see your munintrollsface I'd say, please slap Sweden CS. Let me see your crawldance.

I was casting the play offs. The entire event was far more competitive than I expected, with both Mov3mber and Nerds gone wild (The mix team) showing some fantastic play against Curse.Eu, who while admittedly making some tactical mistakes, is still the 5th ranked team in the world. I'd love to see Nerds gone wild to stick together, and I really would love to see Mov3mber to enter some international lans, as if they play the way they played then, with a little bit of practice (They made some occasional poor decisions) they could seriously do some damage. I was talking to them in the stream chat, and from what I understand they are looking for a organization to help them get to lans, and frankly if they play like they did today, someone needs to pick them up.

and how would you know how they're gonna do after some practice with aslak? prolly even going to do better. i mean, they did win lantrek without even practicing with him.

i don't know, but nasu has been an integral part to every good finnish team because he does a lot of the little stuff in the background that no one seems to notice. there is no way that they would have given up so many easy rounds if he was playing, even without practice. they should beat everyone at lantrek 2-0 without any issues, they actually were lucky to win. that's bad news.

nasu is great and hard to replace, i know, but so is aslak and one cant judge their performance if they haven't practiced at all - no matter who the enemies are (and i also think you underestimate the power of finnish cs:s mixteams lol). all i'm saying is that you shouldn't turn down their future just because they replaced a great player, only future will tell how their chemistries are going to work out.

i think it goes into the roles of the team, allu is basically playing all the roles aslak should have, and while they will move around to fit him better in, there isn't quite anyone capable of doing what nasu did (which is the essential stuff of not allowing mistakes, forcing them to be productive at practice, play seriously etc). aslak will be a better fragger without a doubt once he's adjusted, but it will make them very, very inconsistent unless they find a way to add someone who can entry frag and play the boring/hard backup roles nasu used to play. roles simply do not fit, as was the case with sk 2012 ft. trace.
