No shgOpen 2008

Sad news from the LAN front, today shg.dk announced that there would be no shgOpen 2008.

During the past 3 years shgOpen has gone from a little 400 people LAN to the biggest gaming LAN in Scandinavia, but there will be no shgOpen in 2008. After shgOpen 2007 the webshop behind shgOpen, shg.dk, announced that the event had generated a bigger deficit than expected, and they would have to re-evaluate their strategy for the future, which we now see the consequence of.

It is not all bad though, while the website says gameover for shgOpen 2008, it still says that shgOpen 2009 in cooperation with the Danish capital Copenhagen might be a possibility.

We here at HLTV.org have enjoyed the past 3 years of working with shgOpen, and really hope we will get a chance to attend more events in the future.

I believe shgOpen has helped the danish CS scene a lot, I've personally had three wonderful LAN's, and it would be sad not to experience another one! Truly hope it works out in 2009.

And how can u say that? Cpl just launched CS 1.6 as their main game? After dumping it for CS:S So i dont think so :))

#9 cpl added 1.6, but before that WSVG organisation announced that there will be no more WSVG tournaments, and for now shgopen canceled their next season... so do the math, and u come up with one gained tournament and two lost... anyway, hope shgopen comes back in 2009.

Imo, SHGopen has really boosted Denmark a lot on the international CS-scene. It'd be a shame to close such an event for good. Hope the event will be back @ 09 =]

It's a shame for both Danish and International events. shgOpen really grew big in record time. But they might have aimed a little too high with the 2007 edition. Never the less, I had so much fun and meet lots of great people at the three shgOpen's I have attended. Hope to see you in 2009 !
