They just have enough somewhat notable teams in Iberia to make it (tbf, their whole scene existed for a while and just does not really interact with international competitions that much, they have enough of what's offered locally, as far as I understand). Not their fault that you will break the rule of "You can make additional subregional or gendered events as long as it doesn't specifically target very specific team" if you make it "Finnish teams" and only Havu shows up, maybe with Ence Academy. You can try with "Nordic teams", but I'm afraid danes and swedes will be way better anyway.

hltv.org/events/8357/elisa-open-finland-.. Last season, all teams not even top 100 in VRS, local finnish LAN. This season, online, but same thing. I'm asking if Havu would have gone there if it was LAN instead or no. If yes, then I fail to see how it's not the same thing. Currently they are by far the best finnish team, even if just because there are not a lot of others. hltv.org/events/8709/elisa-open-finland-..

Are Saw owned by *checks notes* HP OMEN? Sure, Saw own the venue where event happened, but that's kind of it, unless you wanna argue they messed with opponents' PCs because of it or something and still got second place.

Tbf, crowd cheating happens at bigger events and with TO and venue having nothing to do with any of the teams. But in the end, audience cheering up hype moments is part of LAN with crowd. Was there a fan sector for Saw? Probably yeah. And they probably were cheering for hype moments. I'm not willing enough to look up games and VODs from there to see if there were any kyxsan situations where it was clearly an attempt at abusing it.

It's the only team fighting for a place in the Major that won a major LAN tournament against one of the world's top five teams. And they even won twice. So nobody deserves to go to the Major more than SAW! Only M8 could deserve it as much, but unfortunately for them they spent too long with Stadodo before returning to their roots.

That's playing by the system... If anything you could complain about their last LAN, it was literally organized by a SAW member, played on their "arena", and only open to Portuguese and Spanish teams (so, way less competition)

it doesnt mean that 37 points is a right amount of points they will get for beating some tier 4 na team, just because this is lan tournament. maybe this sounds logically in terms of vrs system, but in terms common sense it is just terribly wrong.
2025-10-04 13:43

but it's not about beating a team, it's about LAN wins, irrespective of who it is. that's the worst part of the VRS forecast page, most people just think that it's because of beating a team while there's multiple factors.

that exactlly why this system needs to be improved, because all these factors combined are creating such illogical moments sometimes.

yeah but the same thing happens with HLTV's ranking, you just don't notice it because it's only updated every week. if it updated everyday like VRS and shown exactly how it changes day by day, people would complain

hltv rating have its own issues as well, i am not even checking it, but it is not decides which team will get invite to big tournament and etc. If valve wants its rating to decide such important things, first of all they need to make it works properly. otherwise it will be better to bring back rmr, or even mrq, it brings even more joy to watch.

The players may not be that good, but Saw, as an organization, did a good job. In the end, everything is valuable, and understanding the VRS system is another factor that makes you a better team. A team has more than five people, and that's often forgotten.
