Anexis over VeryGames to grand final

Anexis has defeated VeryGames 2-1 (16-12 de_inferno_se, 9-16 de_nuke_se, 16-13 de_dust2_se) in the Mad Catz CS:GO Invitational semi-final and will face NiP in the grand final. VG will take on ESC for third place.

VeryGames started their semi-final on de_inferno_se by jumping quickly to a 3-0 lead, still hot off their win over Natus Vincere. Anexis proved to be stronger early on though, winning two straight weapon rounds and VG's save to tie the game up.

Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander's calling seemed to work, as the Danes also won rounds four and five, and were able to get the bomb planted, after a neat bombsite B split through the opposition's spawn in round seven, even if VG's retake proved too good to handle.

The French managed to win the next three in a row, but Nicolaj "Nico" Jensen's two kills tied the game at six, as he took down VeryGames' A bombsite defense with his AWP and a well placed HE grenade.

Anexis claimed a 7-6 lead next, but then walked right into VG's P250 stack in B without even baiting anyone going in, a classic mistake by the Danes versus saving counter-terrorists.

Ex6TenZ' VeryGames struggled once again on the terrorist side

The Danes fell short against VeryGames' old push from their DreamHack Winter playbook in the final round, and then once again on the second half pistol round, as Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom's team took the A site.

Quickly up 3-0 with a 11-7 overall lead, Anexis replied by winning the first five weapon rounds of the half largely uncontested. However, Nathan "NBK" Schmitt's one-on-two heroics tied the game once more, this time at twelve.

VeryGames ran out of money and after losing the next round, found themselves facing a 12-14 deficit with a three-on-two afterplant situation in the B bombsite with the bomb ticking down.

Jensen's AWP shot through a mini crack and two key spray frags from Jacob "Pimp" Winneche's M4A4 turned yet another round to Anexis' favor, allowing them to win the final round as well, to win de_inferno_se 16-12.

Pimp's Anexis finally exceed everyone's expectations

First rounds of de_nuke_se were quickly traded as VG won the pistol round, Anexis' P250 buy tied the game at one, but the French returned the favor and took back the lead on round three.

Stellar defense by the French and Kenny "kennyS" Schrub's AWPing allowed them to win their next three rounds, but a well executed attack gave Anexis their second round of the map at 2-6.

VeryGames won three more rounds in a row once more with Schmitt saving the day with a one-on-two win in the lower bombsite, but Anexis once again replied, now making it 3-9.

VG went onto win their tenth round, but an attack towards ramp gave Anexis their fourth, and a three-on-five conversion cut their deficit to just five at half, making it 5-10.

ScreaM's international LAN debut with VeryGames didn't go as planned

It looked as if the French would get into a commanding lead as they planted the bomb with a three-to-two advantage on the lower bombsite, but a nice retake from Winneche and Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen kept them within an arm's reach.

Kévin "Ex6TenZ" Droolans' team won round three and quickly racked up a 14-7 lead. Anexis won a couple more rounds but were never able to truly recover, losing de_nuke_se 9-16.

First pistol round of de_dust2_se came down to a one-on-one with Schrub ninja defusing versus Rossander, who was too low on health to peek. The Dane would come out on top on round three though, helping Winneche win a two-on-one versus Droolans.

Anexis won round three though, and the teams kept exchanging blows until the very end of the half, with individual plays from players on both teams often deciding close rounds.

Nico made huge plays for Anexis down the stretch

Droolans' quick push into the B site in a three-on-three allowed him to get two quick kills on round twelve, and Winneche's two AK47 headshots from long a pit gave Anexis the next round.

After gaining a 8-6 lead late in the half, Lauridsen's two kills at long gave Anexis an entry into the B bomsite, where Nichlas "Nille" Busk's three quick kills gave them the first significant lead of the map, 9-6.

Busk's momentum carried over to the second half, where his two kills combined with another pair from Lauridsen gave Anexis the pistol round, and a 12-6 lead. VG won the next four, but Anexis fought back to make it 13-10.

VG won two more, but Jensen scored some huge kills including a four kill round to give them gamepoint. Anexis wasted no time and won right after with a score of 16-13, guaranteeing them their first grand final appearance.

Awesome performance by Anexis so far, even tho i dont think they can possibly challenge NiP, will be an interesting game. As far as this tournament, was a shame to see n! underperforming so hard after all the excelent online performances, Na'Vi was also a really nice surprise to me at least, ESC getting better aswell. Finally the emotion of an intense 1.6 match was present in some games in this tournament (specially that 30-33, what a game). Hope 1.6 diehard fanboys realized now cs:go can also be emotive like 1.6 was if the skill-level keeps climbing this way.

this is about cs:go why mention 1.6? it is good for your game that had 6 or 7 overtimes but this isn't the reason 1.6 won't switch to. maybe we don't like that game... did this ever occured to you? i forced myself to watch the game(closed the stream after 15 minutes): 1.way too much lag on gotv 2.casters were really boring, they were not impartial and they gave me the impresion that the shiny godz of real cs(css) were playing agains some random ukrainians(i'm not a fan of na'vi)... they lacked basic knowledge of the game and they were focused waaay too much on theyr personal discutions and opinions than the game itself(imagine a football game in witch the caster speaks only about his opinion about players, clubs, the arena they are playing etc and when one team scores he is smth like ... well team one scored a goal...wow:| instead of beying captivated by the game and screaming like hell when one team scores : GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLll!)

it takes time dude and he was insane on an individual basis. The teamwork will come. Ex6tenz can't handle strats from experienced 1.6 players atm and they had just played too much when Annexis came around. Gl to them, they will have learnt a lot from this lan.

That's why i've always said that they should get rid of Ex6tenz. But everyone keeps spamming that he is a "Strategical mastermind!!!". If you want to watch a strategical mastermind then go download some demos from cArn..VG needs a better IGL if they want to succeed tbh..

hes a clever dude but yeh if u put him up against 1.6 legends then he is clueless. But he still has the drive, he is playing well again and he will watch the demos and try his best to catch up. He motivates the team really well and I think it would be a big mistake to replace him atm. Cant help thinking that shoxie would be a better fit than Kenny S for VG and that smithz should go back to awping like the css days. (now I'm suggesting changing when my whole argument was to give them time!!! fu!!!)
