fRoD to play ESEA Invite 14

Former compLexity and Evil Geniuses star Danny "fRoD" Montaner has revealed that he will play the next season of ESEA Invite.

Montaner has been out of action since Check Six's CS 1.6 division disbanded in July 2012, a news that came roughly one year after he was released from Evil Geniuses together with Tyler "Storm" Wood.

Despite numerous pleas from fans to give it a shot in CS:GO, Montaner has always remained silent on the matter, until this morning.

In a forum thread on ESEA's website, the 2005 ESWC champion said he "has been playing for a few weeks now" and will take part in the next season of ESEA Invite, which will kick off on May 12th.

He made no mention of which team he will be playing for, but with Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert and Braxton "swag" Pierce on the market following Dynamic's disbandment, chances are that the trio could be playing together.

Montaner burst onto the scene in 2002 when he finished 17th-24th at CPL Winter with Green Berets, a campaign that earned him a place in united5, with whom he would finish seventh in the following year's CPL Winter event.

A fifth-place finish at CPL Winter 2004 with compLexity was followed by a dream year of 2005 in which his team placed fifth at ACON5, second at CPL Barcelona and first at ESWC.

In 2006, coL won the WSVG and the Championship Gaming Invitational before deciding to switch to CS:Source and play in the CGS, quickly establishing themselves as the number-one side in the game.

Following the death of the CGS, Montaner and the rest of the team decided to play 1.6 again, this time in Evil Geniuses, but they found success very hard to come by, winning only a handful of international tournaments, such as the IEM4 America Finals, GameGune Mexico and MSI BEAT IT 2010.

Well, if he doesn't like the game he does not play it, he quit playing cs before cs:go was even released so he is simply making a comeback into GO, he is not forced in any way.

austin townley aka cole played in invite for a couple seasons when CS was big. i'd say his opinion has some validity to it. my top 5 would be: 1.markeloff, 2.fRoD, 3.Jungle 4.shaGuar, 5.cogu, but i wouldn't expect many to agree with my list.

Then you realised as well that hes been imporving from day on day slowly but surely :D I mean what did you expected? he just started 3weeks ago to play cs:go. For sure the big green is a bit rusty He already had a few wow momemts where you might have thought: HES BACK!!! :D

He's playing a brand new game. He'll get back to being one of the top players. His intuition and game sense is still there. Time will tell.

this is just not found anymore - fRod is NOT GOOD! - granted he did crazy shit 2005, but that was only 1 year - before that and after they "sucked" (did nothing of notice)... CGS killed him, worst move in history... Im happy to welcome another idol to the scene, but fRod is not good, and I sincerely hope n0thing finds something better...

sry I dont give CSS players much credit - since they never have been able 1.6'ers in either SOURCE or 1.6, that showed countless times in showmatches and statistics favor 1.6'ers huge... that is still entirely my opinion, and the reason for that I dont mention that in the first blog. you might say he / they got better 2006, but they didnt win much that year compared to 2005. 2006 was SK year... again my evaluation is based on statistics...
