Edward removed; kucher joins AD

Astana Dragons have announced that Ioann "Edward" Sukhariev has been removed from the team.

The decision comes as a huge surprise as Sukhariev had left Na´Vi, the team he had helped to build from scratch, to join a new CIS superproject, which has, however, been unable to live up to the hype so far.

Astana Dragons came in third place at the ESWC finals last week, being denied the chance to take the $12,500 cheque after losing to Clan-Mystik in the semi-finals.

Edward given his marching orders

The exact reason behind Sukhariev's departure remains a mystery, but Kirill "ANGE1" Karasiow hinted that his compatriot did not get along with the rest of the team.

"Ioann is a great guy and a great player, and I would like to thank him for the time he spent on this team," Karasiow said.

"But CS is a team game, and lately we often played four + Ioann. The decision was made as a team.

"I sincerely hope that we will be able to adjust to this change for the upcoming tournament and that Ioann finds a good team."

To replace Sukhariev, Astana Dragons brought in KerchNET's Emil "kucher" Akhundov, who had already been linked with the team before Sukhariev was eventually recruited.

Astana Dragons' first LAN event with the new team will be the TECHLABS finals next week, where Na´Vi, LGB eSports and 3DMAX will also be in attendance.

Following Akhundov's addition, Astana Dragons now have:

Kirill "ANGE1" Karasiow
Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov
Yegor "markeloff" Markelov
Emil "kucher" Akhundov

lol you must not watch counter-strike at all (or at least you don't understand the teamplay aspect). and you're right, edward is a better individual player, but he's not 100% better. kibaken and seized are quite good and have shown they can compete on an international level in GO. in 1.6, edward was far above these guys, but in cs:go the gap is closer.

I genuinely think this is for the very best. VP's chemistry with kucher(even in 1.6 time) was amazing. He is a type of player that every team needs - always cheerful, always ready to help and simply friendly. That VP was a really good team. Besides, I trully believe that Adren wasn't really suitable for the support role and now he will do what he is really good at: entryfragging and being a mad aimer. They will benefit from this. As for the DH I doubt they will have a big fall. Sure it is not the best thing to remove a player month prior to the most important tournament. But on the other hand they will be very motivated to win. As for Edward. It is matter of time he joins NaVi. I think he will be like Gux when he returned to fnatic for the second time. Rasmus was a beast in that team and so will be Edward. Too bad kibaken will get cut. Given the fact that Edward and Zeus are the most prolific CS players of CIS you can't really afford to be vengeful towards Edward. The question is when will they add him? After or before DH?

I have to say that I don't think this is just a simple roster change. I'm afraid that Edward might actually be something like sick or something personal came up and he has to withdraw from gaming. It just makes no sense for him to be either kicked or decide to play with NaVi again... Interesting to see this unfold. Also GTR tweet suggests something like this, he wishes him the best of luck, I just really have a feeling this is something non-related to CS that he is stepping down.

Well apparently 4 people on the team are able to play as a team, you know with communication and listening to calls etc. And then theres one guy that seems to not be able to do that. Now Edward gets kicked. They did so to improve their teamplay. Nobody said anything like "edward was too low for us so we kicked him" its simply about chemistry etc.

The legendary Navi (markeloff, Edward, Zeus, ceh9, starix) was highly successful and one of their main strengths was their team-play, where Edward played a crucial role. edit: Also it's funny that this happens right after a tournament where ANGE1 and AdreN were clearly the worst. guardian is not even in VP yet when they first beat NIP. So to say that they beat NiP solely credited to guardian is so wrong. fail On paper, AD now joins fnatic, LGB, CPH, CM, SK, NaVi, US, CoL for the 3-10 class. But I read somewhere that Edward and Dosia wanted to play exactly the same roles, meaning at least 1 of them couldn't play to his full potential, so this could actually be a good thing.

Virtus Pro was a strange team to begin with. It was not a best team but it beat the best team of then(NiP) multiple times. Astana Dragons while still managing to beat NiP now have bigger opponents(VG, Mystik) in front of them.

What a sad news I read this morning. 1.- ANGE1 is the main reason for sure, his the IGL and you know he is a big friend of kucher. 2.- If Edward come back to Na´Vi: Na´Vi sometime before, play with this line up: Zeus, Starix, ceh9, Edward + seized, when markeloff was on vacation. Sorry, you misunderstood. Im talking about how the community's REACTION is similar, and how they were wrong in the end. As in "omg why kick best player omg omg omg", its just totally stupid. People that are saying this stuff clearly have no understanding of how a team functions. Key word being "team" there. :/ The majority of these team changes regardless of their subtle differences have a very clear message; it doesn't matter how good you are, if you can't be a team player then you are out.

extremely bad call especially now that DHW is less than a month away. If they were to kick him they should have done it afterwards. Also it's a little hard for me that markeloff would approve kicking Edward from the team since they were good teams even when they where in Na`Vi. Besides, people have always asked Na`Vi to kick ceh9 because of underperformance. markeloff never supported that so would he support this? Not likely. I find Edward's statement more believable but if that's the case it baffles me what could have happened.

Edward was always sort of like this. He didn't wear the navi logo instead opting for what looked like an impressionist drawing of starix. At some point you have to stop the solo creep brooding routine and put in the effort to be happy for the benefit of those around you. And the goal of AD had to be placing at DHW and their results were improving the top 4 at ESWC were all on par with each other. Ceh9 is right saying that the team quit on him as well before they had a CHANCE to realize their goal. Maybe without him they'll have good luck, they will need it.
