Operation Phoenix launched

Valve has rolled out another update for CS:GO, which, among other things, introduces Operation Phoenix.

Following the success of previous Operation packs, Valve has now released another collection of top-rated community-made maps, this time called Operation Phoenix, which will run through June 4th.

Together with these eight maps, including de_cache, which was also available in Operation Bravo, you will be able to get your hands on a new Operation Coin as well as 13 weapon finishes created by community members.

That's not all there is tell about update 1.32.3.0, however, as Valve has also done some modifications to the scope of both the AUG and the SG556 and tweaked de_nuke and de_overpass.

Below you can find the official patch notes:

[ OPERATION PHOENIX ]

 • Started Operation Phoenix http://blog.counter-strike.net/operationphoenix/
 • Operation Phoenix Passes are available for purchase. They provide access to:
 • Eight maps, chosen by the community, available on official CS:GO matchmaking for all game modes.
 • An upgradable Operation Coin, that tracks all competitive matchmaking statistics for the duration of the event.
 • Exclusive access to the new Operation Phoenix Case, with 13 Community-Created Weapon Finishes.

[MISC]

 • Teammate Colors:
 • Added convar cl_color to allow players to set their preferred teammate color index.
 • Renamed teammate colors convar to cl_teammate_colors_show and added option to display Color Letters over teammate colors in competitive ("cl_teammate_colors_show 2").
 • Teammate preferred color can now be chosen when in a lobby and displays above player avatars.
 • Damage can no longer be done to teammates during a freeze period in any mode.
 • Fixed cs_baggage skybox texture.
 • Fixed cl_draw_only_deathnotices 1 and cl_teamid_overhead 0 not hiding the overhead player arrows.
 • Fixed player flair icons getting cropped on avatars in the lobby.

[Aug and SG556]

 • Scope dot no longer fades too quickly during online play.
 • Scope dot is slightly more visible against bright backgrounds.
 • Scope dot is now tinted using the player's crosshair color settings.

[MAPS]

 • Overpass

 • Smoothed out movement on truck in Bombsite A
 • Simplified cover in bombsite B
 • Removed some trees in upper park
 • Smoothed out ground in canal
 • Removed small walls near playground entrance
 • Tweaked cover in playground
 • Small fence at birthday area no longer block bullets/grenades
 • Simplified corridor to CT sniper position
 • Improved player visibility
 • Improved performance
 • Nuke

 • Made wallbanging through large metal doors consistent
 • Added back pretty lighting in bombsite B
 • Made it possible to throw grenades through skylights in warehouse
 • Fixed some graphical bugs

[NETWORK]

 • Added support for threaded socket processing on clients and servers.
 • Significantly reduced the size of client connect packet to be below MTU.
 • Optimized split packet processing sequence.
 • Client address is no longer transmitted in official game events or saved in official GOTV demos.
 • Client P2P NAT requests are now always rejected when connected to a game server.

Well, Valve has no shortage of money also. All these skins and boxes are purely a way for Valve to bank money. They did some PR and increased the pricepool for DH and EMS (they did not give 250k but only a part of it). Valve has already made a huge profit from GO so they are not covering any expences here, they just make money. I would never spend mine but some people are willing to so then again you can't blame Valve for doing raw business. There is no ethics in business, just business.

Like I said in the other reply, 250k did not give anything for the community. DH has had the same number of viewers (and more) earlier. Even if Valve did not raise the pricepool DH would still have had the same amount of views. Your english ain't too strong so I'm not quite sure what your point here is. If you mean to say Valves part taking on the DH prizepool was due to skins, you are 100% wrong.

I was writing from the phone, i didn't care much about getting my English right... We are talking about money, not the amount of views a tournament would get, and going personal regarding my English .. You just need an excuse to write something .. Valve is a part of the 250k.. But you seem to know alot more than the rest of the community and some people that actually speak with the people that are in charge.. but please share everything you know.

I wasn't going personal, I just did not have a clue about what you were saying. "Without this there Wouldnt have been trust me, some People actually are better informed" What am I to take from that? And yes, I do know way more than the rest of the community because most people never study these things.

Some of it does yes. Also, Valve is not paying 250k but only a part of it. Like I said, they make millions and millions from them. In stead of continuing with these operations I feel like they should make a move towards the whole community, especially putting more money on cheat prevention. The 250k from DH or EMS goes for a few teams, not for the community.

Why does it matter? Who would expect them to give all away? Before all, Valve is a business, and a business is made for profit. As much profit as possible. Good for them that are redirecting a part of the money towards esports. Sure, they are still doing other bad stuff, but at least on this they did some good.

Im not trolling. You are the one who is "trolling" here and acting like a pseudo intellectual. You should appreciate that valve is doing this but instead of doing that you come up with this "conspiracy" that valve is keeping the money from esports cases & keys. Ofcourse that its a business and by sponsoring tournaments liek dreamhack they are sky rocketing the sales of csgo, because more and more people gets interested and actually buys the game, they aint saints, but stop talking bullshit. Come up with facts and maybe then i will listen to what you have to say. One of my best friends is a valve employee, i know much more about this than you do, so please stop embarrassing yourself with these silly theories.

How am I being "pseudo intellectual" here? All I have stated so far is: 1. Valve banks on skins and boxes 2. Part taking in the pricepool was PR 3. Valve should do more for the community. That's all I have been saying and those 3 are pure 100% facts. Edited: facts and a wish Edited2: and I also stated that instead that Valve should spend the money more on preventing cheating, hacking and ddosing instead of releasing new skins and boxes. I'm completely fine with kids buying skins but I also feel very bad for the audience, players and teams suffering from constant hacking, scamming and ddosing

Everytime someone buys a skin, a key, a case etc. Valve will give money to different tournament hosters to improve the pricepool. And the reason Dreamhack had record-high viewership was largely because you would get skins for watching. Valve has helped the scene grow a lot and, essentially, only because of skins.

Valve has made tons of money from the CS franchise. Increasing the prizepool for DH and EMS is pure PR. Also, they did not give 250k for either one. Of course it's nice they give something back but bare in mind, the prices of tournaments do not go for the community but only for a few teams. Valve is a business and they work as such. They make tens of millions with these bullshit Operations. There could be ways to distribute that more to the benefit of the community, fe. working on VAC and other methods of cheat prevention. We can only wait and see what Valve does next. They might very well give us something much more than a mere increase on specific pricepool.

The fact is that they are helping the community by donating 100's of thousands of dollars to tournaments. And of course Valve is a business, their priority is to make money so they can keep updating the game and keeping it alive. Also, bare in mind that it's completely one's own choice if one wants to buy any of these operations, skins or anything like that.

100's of thousands? Nowhere near that. Also, Valve giving the +100k for DH barely increased the audience much. The PR there was Valve taking part. And I stated the same what you did about people willing to pay and I'm fine with that. The one who asks is not stupid, the one who pays is. My point here remains that there is a lot Valve could do for the community. They are not doing it.

they are. Just by releasing updates week after week. That's way more than we know from other dev's and we should appreciate it. Also Valve supported DH not only with money, but with helping the organizers to run the tournament (it used for example the team tournament mode, seen on a screenshot, which wasn't even released). Another point is, that I think you overestimate the money Valve makes from sellings on the steam market.

I completely agree on that update part. But then again, they are kinda forced there. After GO was released the game got a lot of displeased feedback. In order to make the game succesfull the only choise they had was to come up with updates. I'm not overestimating the money they make but I also did not mean it's only skins they make money of. Valve does make millions with skins, tens of millions. Valve taking part in DH was 100% PR, nothing else.

"Valve taking part in DH was 100% PR, nothing else." - it's so easy to understand... About the updates: people don't seem to understand the point in here. They like skins, cases... it requires so much time and knowledge to really understand what really happens on the outside, so you're wasting your time in here explaining the difference between an UPDATE and "throwing grenades through skylights in warehouse" :) Just stop and hope for the best, no one will give a fuck. Just wait... a tournament hosted by VALVE will rise again (with DDoSing attacks and such)

the "fact" is that the more successful these operations are and the more the community continues to invenst in them, the more time and effort valve will put into cs. their team for dota2 for example is a lot larger than their team for csgo but recently thats started to change. back when nip visited them in seattle there was a photo of them with the 'entire' csgo team and it was something like 8 guys. the more people they have working on it the more frequently we'l get new content. so yes the amount of money people spend on the keys and cases is a good thing

That is true, they need money to put money in the game. You hit the point, 8 guys while Valve could easily afford to double the amount. Those are the little things I was talking about. Of course it's clear Valve has had to spend a lot of money on GO cause their original release was a disaster. It was their duty to make it right, and if they didn't there would be no players to sell skins to. But at this point the game has become quite solid, it has a lot of players and they have already made a huge profit. Selling skins isn't all bad but after banking shitloads of money and yet again coming up with new useless shit they are not working for the community imo. Edit: typos, typos everywhere

Do you even have any source for all your "facts" you care to share to us? It seems like you have alot of "information" about valves economic situation. Some quotes in previous posts from you: "You hit the point, 8 guys while Valve could easily afford to double the amount." Oh really? Please share any trustworthy link that shows us this. "They make tens of millions with these bullshit Operations." Please share this trustworthy link link where valve says this. And don't say that this is common sense to know this because if you don't have any trustworthy source then you should not make all these statements. And i do hope valve makes alot of money of these operations so they can keep develop the game we love and so we can keep watch they teams we love to see play.

I have tried to find specific statistics but they are hard to find. 1. "You hit the point, 8 guys while Valve could easily afford to double the amount." That has nothing to do with statistics. Valve is a billion dollar company and they could have easily afforded to hire, not only double but 4 times the amount. They didn't and they released a poor game and therefore have had to spend more money fixing it than they would have spent hiring 100 people to develope it. 2. ""They make tens of millions with these bullshit Operations." Never said anything like that. Edit: You can try to find any specific details of revenue of ANY company and you can't find it. Those details are in the "high security" domain of business. But you can easily see the trade traffic. It still remains a fact Valve makes millions from skins and boxes Edit: These are the revenue numbers from just searchin the Steam trades: The top 10 list of traded items (item, transactions, trade volume) * Mann Co. Supply Crate Key 2.907.399 $6.379.261,63 * Treasure Key 1.133.212 $2.597.117,52 * Operation Bravo Case 264.389 $772.927,74 * Dragonclaw Hook 6.910 $634.037,39 * CS:GO Weapon Case 1.069.672 $631.635,91 * eSports 2013 Case 831.591 $608.528,91 * CS:GO Case Key 244.824 $537.881,25 * RoboCrate Key 217.611 $508.363,25 * eSports 2013 Key 222.474 $477.409,19 * Vintage Timebreaker 6.604 $336.529,13 * Lockless Luckbox 4.849 $335.884,63 Over 58 million revenue for Valve overall, those were just top10

If you have tried to find specific statistics then you have not find anything so don't post all these so called "facts". 1. I've never said anything about statistics. But since you know so much how valve is working as a company and since you know how they spend their money and you say the can "easily" double the amount of guys that works with CS:GO you must have read that somewhere. If you haven't read this then this is only a stupid statement. 2. Yes you said that in post #48. And you wrote this: Valve is a business and they work as such. They make tens of millions with these bullshit Operations. There could be ways to distribute that more to the benefit of the community, fe. working on VAC and other methods of cheat prevention. 3. Exactly. Information like this is secret. So how can you know all the things you do? 4. "It still remains a fact Valve makes millions from skins and boxes" Good! They make alot of money from the boxes and skins and that is awesome! 5. Please post the link of top 10 list of traded items or where you found that information.

Well it is quite clear a billion dollar company can afford to pay people. 2. I did say that but I also said that it's not the operations alone. 4. Goes with 2. they do make millions with skins and boxes. How is that hard for you to beleive? Thousands of players spend money on them every day. 5. The top10 list was copied from reddit. The list was made by using a crawler. I did the same. Like I said, it's close to impossible to get real numbers. And overall, so far I have only stated simple facts that everyone is aware of. I have only stated my oppinion how ripping kids off is not cool, how Valve taking part in tournament pricepool is pure PR and how Valve should spend their money on preventing cheats instead of releasing new boxes. Why are you guys hating me here?

2. No you said they make tens of millions with these operations, that means only because of those operations. Don't try to cover that up with some bullshit. 4. I do think they make alot of money out of the skins and boxes and i think it's freaking great. They do not rip of anyone actually. It is a free choice to play and it is a free choice to buy skins, key and boxes. "Valve should spend their money on preventing cheats instead of releasing new boxes." Oh god... The one who makes the boxes is probably designers, they are probably not any programmers. And they who try to prevent cheaters is probably programmers. And since it seems like you haven't seen the post Valve did on reddit i will give you this link (which you seem to have problems with): reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/1y70ej/valv.. So what you want Valve to do is fire all the designers and try to hire really expensive programmers. We are not hating you (at least not me), but you write here like you are some kind of smart-ass that knows better than Valve.

I wasn't sure at first, thought it was just my imagination as I always play horrible leaving the -threads 4 in my launch parameter, but a friend of mine went to LAN and he complain of how the computer is shitty. I ask him did he added -threads 4 in the launch parameter, he answered that it does give more fps but the reg fucks up. I always thought its just my imagination EDIT: in MM. never tried playing non MM as there's no PUG available

you buy it for 2€€ you sell the first box for 3.5€ or 4€. Then you get 1 box per day. It won't drop lower then 2€ in the first week. Profit. Then you have drops till june/july (I bet they are extending it) and they wont go for lower than 0.5/1€

Can anyone explain what are them??? [NETWORK] Added support for threaded socket processing on clients and servers. Significantly reduced the size of client connect packet to be below MTU. Optimized split packet processing sequence. Client address is no longer transmitted in official game events or saved in official GOTV demos. Client P2P NAT requests are now always rejected when connected to a game server.

As far as I know if the threaded processings is better, so will the hit reg. MTU also assists with that (there's a lot of guides to set MTU used in game to the ideal one for your connection) I'm not too sure about split packet processing, but I'm assuming it will assist with updates between server & client, which in turn will improve hit reg. ^^Those are the hitreg updates. How big a difference it makes is another question though. Client address is no longer transmitted in official game events or saved in official GOTV demos. Client P2P NAT requests are now always rejected when connected to a game server. ^^Those 2 are to prevent DDOS attacks directed at players.
