ESL UK CS:GO Community Challenge

ESL UK has announced a new series named the CS:GO Community Challenge. The event will span three seasons with a collective prize pool of €3,300.

With the support of SteelSeries, ESL UK will host three seasons of the CS:GO Community Challenge throughout the remainder of 2014. There will be a total of €1,100 up for grabs each season, with the inaugural competition set to kick off on May 5th.

The organizers have released a statement:

“With the support of SteelSeries, we want to create a home for UK players and teams alike to hone their skills and advance their prowess within the competitive arena. We want to create opportunities for players in the United Kingdom, so that one day fans may be found chanting the name of a UK team in an arena like Katowice.”

Sign ups will be available to teams from the United Kingdom only, with each season hosting six prized qualification cups.

was sat behind at lan watching the game. imo and you'll most likely disagree, but they just turned it on mirage ct. it takes more than a good ct and the other team "not having a good t side" to comeback that much. also got overtime on the second map.

well the result is what matters. the length of time as a team and the practice is kind of irrelevant. if you can play that well with 2 days practice against an established team, keep playing together and show what you can do internationally.

A good attempt to bait out decent players/teams from the shadows, however gaming is just not naturally in our culture, its very niche and unimportant as well as other factors. What needs to happen is some sort of platform where UK players can gather and play together at all levels and learn from each other and "mix". Maybe some sort of matchmaking system only for Brits (a filter), then maybe a decent team will come through and give the real pros a challenge. Atm, we cant find each other easy enough and the community is too saturated with other non english speaking teams/players. We are only a tiny Island diluted by a massive land mass called Europe. The same old dogs that have been around for years will no doubt win this. *FM Toxic cough* However good luck to all who try to beat them!

There is a platform that UK players use, its an mIRC gather channel that uses a bot with stats and stuff included. Quite a few UK players use it and we also have a UK scene Facebook group ^^

Oh yeh because that's historically been a friendly and great way to increase in skill and get noticed......I hope its changed because my experience of it a year ago was not pleasant, was full of typical UK players who seem to think you can read their mind and complain when they get killed through their 'own' fault.
