ESL One Cologne to update map pool

ESL's product manager, Alexander "crtmN" Nehr, has confirmed via Twitter that ESL will make changes to the ESL One Cologne map pool

Following a large outcry from the community to see games played on more maps than just de_inferno, which has been at times more popular than other maps combined, Valve have reacted.

After adding de_cache in this week's update, the active duty map list includes de_cache, de_cobblestone, de_dust2, de_inferno, de_mirage, de_nuke and de_overpass.

Just a quick info, there will be changes to the mappool of #ESLOne Cologne 2014 at gamescom. More soon #CSGO

Many community figures, including Titan's Nathan "NBK" Schmitt, have speculated that it could mean de_cobblestone and de_overpass will be added to the map list, while de_train could be removed.

In a later tweet Nehr confirmed that ESL will be announcing the map pool for ESL One Cologne next week. The $250,000 tournament itself will take place at GamesCom on August 14-17.

Agreed, 1.6 cbble was pretty decent but this shit is just plain dumb. It's like they are trying too hard and looking for ways to update an all ready fairly decent map. They could have ported 1.6 cbble, added some chickens, everyone happy.

Yeah, cpl have copyrights to cpl_mill map, thats way in 1.6 was made tuscan. Yea, cpl_mill in csgo is pretty nice but thats not gonna happen.

Could be very entertaining. Would be nice if they added a new map. It doesn't have to be overpass, but we should get one or a couple new maps. We've been playing the same maps for about 10 years some change would be nice. It would be interesting to see how the best teams would adapt to new layouts. I would've preferred to see de_crown played as I think it is much cleaner, but looking whether overpass will work competitively is also interesting. However they will need to change the elimination system in BO3 to a selection system if they want different maps to be played.

Because they've already started on it. The picture was teased the other day when the update was rolled out and they used a picture of de_train (re-worked version) on the official guide for penetration through boxes/materials.

If you remove Train, please add Season and Tuscan. They are both decent maps and Season was played alot in ESEA. De_Dust2, De_Inferno, De_Nuke, De_Mirage, De_Cache, De_Season and De_Tuscan is the best map pool you can have. Cbble and Overpass would just get vetoed every fucking match.

Don't you guys want some fresh blood? Tuscan and Season would be great but at their core, they're just ports of 5+ year old maps. Who knows, maybe with some further tweaking, overpass could turn out good. Valve has spent a lot of time on overpass, listening to the community as well.
