Titan knock Vox out of ESL One

Titan have knocked Vox Eminor out of ESL One Cologne 2014 after a dominant 16-1 (14-1, 2-0) win on de_nuke.

Titan won the defensive pistol round on de_nuke - arguably their best map - and instantly got on a roll. Edouard "SmithZz" Dubourdeaux got three kills against a saving Vox team on round two.

The Australians killed all of Titan on round three, but lost the round, and were then shut down by Kenny "kennyS" Schrub and Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt scoring doubles on the following round.

Two next rounds saw Titan dominate the terrorists in the upper site, extending their lead to 6-0. Next round was a breeeze, and a triple by kennyS right after made it 8-0.

kennyS was dominant in Titan's win

A pair of entries by kennyS got Titan to nïne, but two kills by both Aaron "AZR" Ward and Chad "SPUNJ" Burchill finally got Vox Eminor on the board at 1-9.

Titan broke Vox's money to make it 10-1, and kennyS started a multi-kill streak on an anti-eco that would last through the rest of the half's four rounds, though two versus saves.

A triple next round was against a save, but he then followed it up with another three kills against weapons. He and NBK- then cmobined for four to make it 14-1 at half.

The French-Belgians easily took over ramp on their terrorist pistol round and got to 15-1. Vox's force buy came down to a one-on-one, but kennyS prevailed, securing a 16-1 win.

Maybe one day tournament organisers will understand that two bo1s are not worth the visit for many countries and change the tournament system. Such a random $250.000 tournament. Disgusting.

Through donations and sponsors. What's your idea, have the tourney in Australia? Or make it a 16x15 game round-robin opening round?

well i guess the idea is stated above which you disregarded by being facetious - make it worth the expense for teams from asia, south-america and wherever else the game expands to by giving them an opportunity to play more games.

i'm happy for teams to have that experience and when i referred to expense i meant in the case of the sponsors - for this trip alone it cost over €20,000 (though there are stickers and the $2000) so by "making it worth" the expense, i mean that in regards to the game they're playing their should be more opportunity for the players to garner experience in high pressure situations such as these european lans which results in developing our own scene. i'm not here to argue and i do understand exactly where you're coming from. :)

im not talking about this tournament only, there are tournaments which are not funded by valve and they support this format and thus make it impossible for teams like this to attend.

Bullshit. Sydney to Berlin is $1500. (I've done it before). Times 5 then times 2. $15000 It's their choice to stay in a fucking five star hotel or pay for "business" class. Obviously they're not paying out of their own pockets with these accommodations. So why cry for their wallets? It's all comped.

Well, obviously, not in the same way. On the other hand, you could definitely setup your game around a players like NBK or Scream and it would work and they'd become superstars. You seem to underestimate how good NBK actually is, he just takes quiet roles. On d2 he camps outside long all round, every round and then comes in to help with some flashes. On nuke, he just sits at the back of ramp and falls back to B in case terrorists come. Scream used to be the go to guy in his previous team Imaginary.

topgun had a horrific tournament unfortunately - i really don't think their problem is on an individual level though, europe brain too strong. i would really like to see the australian team play in europe for a longer duration, maybe in some online leagues or local lans - i know the cost would be great in number and they have other responsibilities but i really can't see them getting any further when living so far away from where the action is.
