k1ck, AlienTech to ESWC finals

k1ck and AlienTech have qualified for the ESWC finals after finishing in the top two at the Portuguese qualifier.

Held in Vila Nova de Gaia, the qualifier was open to teams from both Portugal and Spain, but surprisingly not a single Spanish team attended the event. The first day of the qualifier was marred by network and power problems, which almost put the entire event at risk.

k1ck had here their first LAN test with the new lineup, featuring Bruno "⁠riis3d⁠" Melo instead of Rui "⁠SHOUW⁠" Reis, but that did not keep Ricardo "⁠fox⁠" Pacheco's side from cruising to the final as they moved past madjick and FTW.Alienware.

fox's k1ck to attend the ESWC finals once again

From the other end of the bracket came AlienTech, who also had a relatively ease route to the tournament decider as they beat Panthers and tReseRRdoiseLL, both times on just two maps.

With both teams already through to the ESWC event, the grand final decided which of the two would have their expenses covered by the organisation. As expected, k1ck ran out 2-0 victors following 16-5 and 16-14 wins on de_nuke and de_inferno, respectively.

Maybe they are shit but they are for sure the second best portuguese team. They won every map since group stages and only lost in the finals.

the only luck they had was to avoid K1CK until the final. And it wasn't even luck. They knew that if they got the 1st place they would avoid them anyway, so they just played for it. Simple

they just won against randoms, the only hard game that they got was against k1ck, while k1ck in the other side of the bracket destroyed some teams that could possibly win against alientech.. I hope they do some good things at france, but dont get in the hype train just because they got 2nd..

They have been getting good results in practice matches against good european teams, i think they have beaten LC and dAT team recently, i think they can do some damage, but that will depende on their group, and if you want to compare them to K1CK, they are a few levels away from K1CK.

I was at the event doing coverage and I can tell that the group stage ended at 6-6:30AM, and it would end later if it wasn't for some default games that happened. They didn't bring 1, but 2 generators to the event. The games were suposed to be played at 10AM, and they only started at 1AM of the next day. The playoff days went smoother, of course that most team didn't fully rest, and only 1 game was delayed due to Juri's computer issues.

Did u know what is happen in Portuguese cs ? the top players in Portugal can't live to cs, they have to work, SHOW quit of k1ck because dont have time to play and work. In Portugual can't play and work same time.
