Epsilon to DH Winter with fxy0

Epsilon captain Robin "GMX" Stahmer has announced that the team will attend DreamHack Winter with Joey "fxy0" Schlosser as a stand-in.

Earlier in the week, Epsilon made headlines when they brought in Christophe "SIXER" Xia, one of the most accomplished players in the French Counter-Strike scene, as a replacement for Joey "fxy0" Schlosser.

Such a move left Epsilon with just two players from the side who secured a top-eight finish at ESL One Cologne, which, according to Valve's rules for major tournaments, would revoke the team's invite to DreamHack Winter next month.

fxy0 to attend DH Winter with Epsilon

However, in order to meet the criterion of a minimum of three players from the previous major, Epsilon will be fielding fxy0 as a stand-in for SIXER at the Swedish event.

Epsilon are currently in Kiev for the SLTV StarSeries finals, which they are attending with Engin "MAJ3R" Küpeli as a stand-in.

The French team will take part in DH Winter's $250,000 tournament with:

Belgium Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom
France Robin "GMX" Stahmer
France Kevin "Uzzziii" Vernel
France Gordon "Sf" Giry
France Joey "fxy0" Schlosser (stand-in)

Normal practice though is the people who are fired are not asked to be on the job in that period, because it creates a really bad environment. Or, that is the common practice in Denmark.

Lol, why wouldn't he. He could get picked up by a team if he does well and there's $$$ on the line, it's not like we are expecting him to do something sur-human and there is a reward.

fxyo's free to refuse, that means there was an agreement reached between him and Epsilon, I see nothing wrong with that. Everyone is winning in this deal, Epsilon get to participate in a major, and fxyo has two opportunities: the first is to make some money and get visibility in order to join another team in the future, the second is to maybe change Epsilon's mind by questioning himself and proving them that they made a bad choice kicking him. If all of these guys found an agreement everything is fine, and no one is to blame.

So? fxyo could still have refused to join. But as I said, this agreement is beneficial to everyone, that's why he didn't refuse, but he could have if he wanted to. There's no particular wrong move from anyone in this news.

What does it matter that he got kicked. It might have been a decision from both sides to part ways. It is not like they hate eachother and fxy0 was free to decline to offer to go.

It takes just 1 map win against the second best team in the group. One guy CAN carry hard enough for a fluke map win. Edit : Implying these results : Game 1 : loss to 2nd best team (likely result) Game 2 : Beat the feeder team of the group (easy) Game 3 : Beat the 2nd best team of the group (upset)

Epsilon w/o Shox can EASILY lose to a "feeder" like vox. Vox almost beat LDLC at Katowice, which was a much better lineup than current Epsilon.

They didn't almost beat LDLC if you actually watched the game. The score was close only because LDLC were not taking the game seriously with all half-buys and smokeless rushes. This group of people has beaten NiP, HR, CPHW and LDLC in the past month alone. Vox E has beaten exactly zero mid tier european teams till date. I don't know why Vox are so overrated and Epsilon so underrated. Epsilon will most likely crash out of group stages but they will definitely not lose to the likes of Vox.

I watched the game entirely, Vox played fantastically on T side and if LDLC "didn't take their first game in the biggest tournament of the year seriously" that's their own fault. Epsilon won't get out of groups, they'll finish 3rd most likely - 10% chance of 1st/2nd. Vox aren't overrated, people just expect them to get out of Australian qualifiers because they're the best team down under. Epsilon aren't underrated either, you can expect them to put up a fight, but ScreaM isn't how he used to be, the rest of the team are tier 3 players, hence why they're like 3 wins 15 losses or whatever in FACEIT.

would you rather "fuck over" ex teammates or take, lets say, ~$15k from stickers + however much they get in prize money?

They need fxy0 if they want to have a confirmed place at DHW. Expected. Will get kicked after DHW.

Did you read the small article at all? It explains why they want fxy0 to play and tells you the 5 people who will play for the team at DHW. Lol.

Yeah, they did, put it this way: He's kicked from the team but he's playing with them for DHW. Hence the "fxy0 stand in"

Given how CS tournaments work, absolutely. You get 2k just for attending, even if you lose every match, and obviously more for progressing, not to mention the crazy amount the Epsilon organisation and (possibly the players) depending on how the contract operates, make from stickers. It gives them a free ticket into DHW, and given how poorly Epsilon have been playing, it seems legit - failed to qualify for ESWC and are like 3 wins 15 losses in FACEIT.

I'm not talking about the decision to let him come in as a standin about kicking him in the first place? They destroyed his morale, they could have kicked him after the tournament ended maybe then they could have qualify for the next stage.

Yeah, I can see what you're saying, and none of us but Epsilon know I guess. I suppose because there's still a fair few matches before DHW - SLTV today for instance, Epsilon thought they would play better without fxy0, who I believe used to get angry mid game at his teammates from when I was listening to Solek talk to him a few days ago. His morale won't be crushed anyway, it's a third tier French team and he can, in the future do better. He's got a month to prepare and will try his ultimate best considering the scale of the tourny.

money of what ? even if ScreaM and/or fxy0 make an out of this world performance, they still wont win any money at all since they're not ready and prepared ... really ? asking him to come again like that to be a 'stand-in' after kicking him ... men what a nerve. #74 honour > 'hypothetic miracle' money

true but the whole roster for the organisation changed, fans supporting specific players would jump to other team like LDLC and Titan. I dont think Epsilon's stickers will sell as much as the other french teams.

So they need a minimum of three players who reached the playoffs in cologne. Sf and GMX played for epsilon and uzzii for ldlc, right? Why do they need fxyo then?

lel. I'm sure they are still friends with him anyways, I guess hes a good guy outside since he has been hanging out with gmx for a very long time, it's just that he can't control his anger in game sometimes. since shox & kio left , epsilon were losing almost all their matches and he just lost it.

Never a reason to rage. Sometimes, I'll drop a 30 bomb but still lose a game (I can say to the other 4 guys that they are useless, but i sure can't win without them, so help them to help you). Be the leader you want your teammates to follow. The rage and the flame are tools of a weak mind. EDIT: So if EPSILON has to play with fxy0 does this mean Titan are out. They only have ex6 and kennyS from the Cologne squad.

Exactly, that's why they kick him every time but he just can't stop it, I could already feel his anger when epsilon went downhill and when he went agressive in such a retarded way in almost every round of a match with his cz/awp. He thought that if he didn't make all those entry kills, his team would never win.. he couldn't trust his teammates anymore. It's a shame because he could have maybe go in better team someday, but things will only go worse imo. he should really work on his anger issues. edit response : no they have maniac, apex and kqly which have all passed groups in cologne

That's gonna be awkward as fuck: "Look Joey, we know we kicked you for being a prick and all, but we need you on our team so we get a for sure spot and DHW. So we'll let you play with us again." If I were fxy0 I would've told em to go fuck off. I know fxy0's toxic, but honestly, you don't just kick someone and then go beg them to come back because you need em to qualify.

was most likely already agreed previously, they qualified for DH winter as the team so they will attend with it. Also the fact they have 1 week bootcamps means fxy0 will immediately gell back in the team.
