Titan move past Epsilon 2-0

Titan defeated Epsilon 2-0 (16-10 on de_dust2, 16-13 on de_cache) in the opening match of SLTV StarSeries XI Finals.

The first match in Kiev, Ukraine this weekend saw two of the three French teams in attendance cross paths, with Epsilon's new lineup taking on DreamHack Stockholm winners Titan.

Engin "MAJ3R" Küpeli and Christophe "SIXER" Xia were making their debut for Epsilon, the latter also playing his first international CS:GO LAN. On the first map, de_dust2, their team managed to keep up the pace early on as Terrorists, evening the score out at 5-5 and 7-7 but still losing the first half 7-8.

Maniac had a great series in Titan's 2-0 win over Epsilon

However, the Kenny "kennyS" Schrub and Hovik "KQLY" Tovmassian double AWP combo looked as good as ever and kept going after the sides changed, with Mathieu "Maniac" Quiquerez chipping in with 13 second half kills. After winning the pistol Titan were in complete control, despite seeing Epsilon snatch a few rounds inbetween, and they won the first map 16-10.

Second map, de_cache, brought more of the same with Titan strolling to an early 10-2 lead as CTs. Epsilon didn't give up though, and they managed to take the last three rounds of the half, as well as the following pistol round to reduce the deficit to 10-6.

However, KQLY then scored 3 CZ75 kills at the A bombsite in the second round and practically paved the path for his team's victory. Titan reached match point at 15-9, after which MAJ3R saved his team from losing the match by winning a 1-on-2.

Epsilon kept their hope alive for three more rounds, but it was too late and the map ended 16-13 in favor of Kévin "Ex6TenZ" Droolans' team.

Ex6tenz is really going worst and worst. I don't think Titan will win this lan, it was a bit a close match vs a MixTeam, and both did a lot of error. Let's see LDLC now!

? did you even watch the match? ex6 didnt even get many opportunities to frag. And i suppose you didnt hear ddk. The fate of mix teams are random. They can get owned really quickly, or be really unpredictable. Unless you area run and gun picking style of play like fnatic, mix teams will be a headache for strat heavy teams.

You forgot the main thing Ex6tenz is TITAN, no ex6tenz no titan. ScreaM and Smithzz where the first to be kicked. NBK wasn't agree, so he left. i'm not suggesting anything, but you did.

who set that rule that ex6 = titan? There's only 1 team that can fall into that, which is NiP since NiP is created again because of the team. And im suggesting because of your logic that ex6 is worthless to the team.

ex6 is a shit fragger, decent igl at best, his tournament wins in CSGO tell you that how many has he won 3-4? Xizt has won 21.

shit fragger maybe, decent igl? Wow, wrong on so many levels. Go watch thorin's counter points podcast. He may be an asshole, but he's right about ex6. edit: to make another point, on that counter point podcast, NiP has changed igl from fiffy to xizt and back before. the analysts on that podcast has agreed that their overall playstyle never changed a lot. It was never THAT much to do with his leading that NiP won so much.

So tell me why is he one of the best in game leaders? I'll make some point why he isnt: 1. He had so many great players in their absolute peaks, shox (best in the world at one point), kennyS (best awper), ScreaM (he was great but then became inconsistent), NBK (great player in the past 3 months not that good but previously one of the most consistent), smithzz (underrated player helped him with his calling as well, good awper at times) and yet he still didnt win anything big. 2. His calling style, question by NBK as well he said that he kept playing that set -strat based game with no freedom for individual players, when you have shox in your team you give him freedom, just like Xizt does with f0rest if he unleashes him you know what happens. 3. His fragging abilty, mediocre, so shit he costs them many rounds and yet people still say "he is an IGL he shouldnt frag" 4.This isnt CSS anymore, completely different game, he mightve won everything in Source or whatever because i didnt play Source but those achievements and reputation are nothing in this game

Most of the points im making here is from the podcast which i agree on most. 1. Shox? They did win. 2013 they wrecked NiP. 2. KennyS. It was the combination of Kenny and ScreaM that tore down VG for the same reason of their playstyle being remote to what ex6 has in mind (again, the podcast). Shox was the perfect fit for the same very reason as shox could perfectly execute set strats 3. I agree in your point that in CSGO, individual skill will trump set strats to an extent, like what fnatic has now. And NiP (before their slump) is the same. They dont have awesome strats, but their individual skill is so high and teamwork is so fluid that they dont need ingenious strats. 4. the magical lineup of VG (scream shox nbk smithz ex6) had set strats. They still won. (i cant explain a lot as thorin spoke so much in the podcast, but shox eased a lot of problems he had with scream) 5. Smithzz, underrated awper? He's OK, but not underrated. If he was that good like device, etc (kenny and guardian are talented) he'd make top 20 on last year's list. 6. If you have noticed, his style of calling has changed to a two pronged approach. If players get picks that impact the round, they immediately execute strats. If not, they grind it down to the wire. Not that set anymore. 7. I agree, his fragging ability is mediocre. the "IGL shouldnt frag argument" is bad as well i agree.

Don't take everything Thoorin says for granted, though he can have some valid points, but no man can have a full grasp of the game, specially not one who have never played it on a decent level himself. The biggest reason to why ex6 isn't that good of a igl is very basic and roman already mentions it. He doesn't set the strats to his players ability. E.g. he has a large tendency to force buy with a team that has two of the best awp players in the world. The result is that they loose alot of rounds and it makes this team a very momentum based team, because of the lack of economic control. I also think its a bit weird that you have one of the best "lurkers"/single players in the team in aPEX and instead let Maniac lurk and have aPEX in the supporting role. Its not that Maniac is a bad choice since he is a smart player, but it restrains aPEX.

i said above, if you observe, i see two types of styles ex6 has now. the pick and bum rush a set strat or the grinding style, it has evolved, at least to a certain extent. apex isnt a lurker, he is an entry fragger... ex6 lets him go bonkers on ct especially, if you see his extreme aggresiveness :) and maniac is the support role :0 i agree that his force buys is sometimes irritating, but we see it work more now than with the previous kennys lineup. edit: yes not all thorin makes sens, but those points i made above are those that all the analysts agree on, and those i found made sense.

I'm not saying he's a bad player, I'm saying that because he's the IGL and is the most focused player on strat calling, he shouldn't be ahead of the aim stars and fraggers on the team, obviously somethings going wrong if he's the only guy positive.

its funny cuz GMX is on top but his team lost mostly because of him, he decide to push in importants round and keep dying, he decide to push on 2 pistols and couple more importants fulleq rounds - die without firing a single bullet; he got i think like 15 kills from antieco or of catching the safers; gmx played well but frags mean nothing in this scenario
