Titan suspend KQLY following ban

Titan have announced that they have suspended Hovik "KQLY" Tovmassian from their active roster following the player's VAC ban.

Earlier today, the CS:GO community was rocked by the stunning news that Titan's Hovik "⁠KQLY⁠" Tovmassian, one of France's most accomplished CS:GO players, had been caught in the latest wave of VAC bans.

The news will certainly spark debate in the scene about professional players using cheating software - a possibility that was raised by former ALTERNATE member Simon "⁠smn⁠" Beck, who has also been VAC banned -, just days before DreamHack Winter.

KQLY suspended from Titan's roster

Titan have now announced that, following KQLY's VAC ban, the player has been suspended pending an ongoing investigation.

"Upon logging onto Titan’s usual scrim server, while at the training house and while using a recently formatted PC, KQLY got VAC banned and can therefor not train or practice with his official account," a Titan statement read.

"We are currently in contact with Valve in order to investigate what might have caused this and we will keep you informed as the situation develops."

In case KQLY's VAC ban stands, then Titan's spot at DH Winter is at risk since the team will no longer have three members of the LDLC squad who finished in the top eight at ESL One Cologne.

Good, at least they're taking this seriously. Waiting for a Valve statement now...

It doesn't matter, VAC bans are never given immediately, so that people can't know which cheat triggered it and when it was detected. The fact that his PC was recently formatted doesn't matter one bit, it's very unlikely that whatever discussions Titan are having with Valve right now will change anything, because it's very unlikely that the ban is undeserved. Anyway, we'll see soon enough won't we?

Well Valve did lay down the rule of no one with any VAC bans in CSGO can play at major tournaments. So he could make another account and play in other events if admins allow it, but he can never be on a top team again, which is good and all that really matters in the end.

You're missing the point, the organisation doesn't need to snoop on their player. However, by accepting that player into the team they are also accepting the penalty of that player being caught. It's not a question of policing the player's computer activity, it's a question of making a professional judgement and suffering a professional penalty if that judgement was flawed. Given the money that's on offer it's about time there was serious consideration given to raising the professional standards - and in most forums that begins with regulation and penalty for failure to comply.

Don't bother titan. Did you read this from valve? steamcommunity.com/actions/WhatIsVAC " The VAC system is automated and contacting Steam Support to report cheaters isn't necessary. Valve has a zero-tolerance policy for cheating and will not lift VAC bans under any circumstances." not sure why some people are hopeful this is a mistake.

I like how people saying that this is reason why NiP is bad atm. Its not like that NiP players didnt cheat during the past few years. Its good known that they have Valve's support in terms of knowing update few days before. Also, yap, its sad that we have so many top tier players who actualy cheated, and i think that valve/event hosts should think about to ban all teams (not orgas) if they knew that 1 of their teamm8s cheated. Match fixing, pros whoring for donations, cheating at the top end of competition, staff disappearing with 50 grand - what the fuck has CS become. I liked it more when the only thing I came to know of the players were the actions on the server. The in-game nick was all you had to know. CS always was a hardcore thing, this whole big stage, big money, big publicity thing doesn't suit the game at all.
