LDLC beat NiP to win DH Winter

On de_dust2, NiP, who started out on the Terrorist side, played a slow long push in the pistol round, with Adam "⁠friberg⁠" Friberg getting two entry kills to give his team the edge. Faced with a 3-on-5 situation, LDLC were simply overrun when their opponents entered the site.

The two anti-eco rounds also went NiP's way, but the Swedish team chose a set of tactics in the first gun rounds that were simply ineffective, which allowed LDLC to turn the score around to 4-3 in their favour. NiP equalised the game immediately after, but when they were trying to string two rounds together they were completely frustrated in their catwalk push.

LDLC were then surprised on the eco, which allowed NiP to restore parity on five rounds, and for the rest of the first half the Swedish team were really dominant as they took a 9-6 lead going into the break.

In the second half, LDLC played out a perfect pistol round, pushing B without losing a single player, and then won the anti-eco rounds that followed to level the score 9-9.

For the first gun round, NiP went for a double AWP setup but they completely outplayed by LDLC from distance as the Frenchmen found themselves with a two-man advantage before even picking which site to go for.

After winning the following anti-eco, LDLC went for an A push, which NiP's double AWP strategy could do nothing against. A desperate buy from NiP resulted in yet another round loss and a timeout from the Swedes.

In the next gun round, NiP decided to go for a traditional one-sniper setup and the move paid off as they emerged victorious thanks to Christopher "⁠GeT_RiGhT⁠" Alesund denying LDLC the entry in the A site with two headshots. Edouard "⁠SmithZz⁠" Dubourdeaux then opened things up with a great AWP frag in the middle, which paved the way for LDLC to perform a B split. With five map points in the bag, the Frenchmen quickly sealed the deal with a B push as they ran out 16-10 winners.

Next up was de_inferno, LDLC's choice of map, with the Frenchmen started off on the Terrorist side. Still, they came out strongly and took the game by storm following an archside push onto B, with Nathan "⁠NBK-⁠" Schmitt getting two kills in speedway before picking up a third frag while defending the site.

LDLC did some solid work in the first anti-eco round to deny NiP's CZs, but then they guessed the wrong bombsite and were destroyed while trying to enter B, which allowed the home team to reduce the deficit to 1-2.

An archside/truckside split from LDLC almost caught NiP off-guard, but friberg saved the way by winning a 1-on-2 situation to deny the Frenchmen the chance to restore a two-round lead.

With the scoreline 4-2 in favour of NiP, Mikail "⁠Maikelele⁠" Bill showed the level of form that everyone expected of him and dipsosed of four opponents with the AWP in A. LDLC then picked up two rounds in a row, but a strong performance from NiP saw the Swedes embark on a six-round streak and take an 11-4 lead.

If things were looking grim for LDLC already, they got much worse at the start of the second half as they could not stop NiP's B push, with Patrik "⁠f0rest⁠" Lindberg picking up four kills. The first gun round also went NiP's way as the Swedes held the B site down in a 2-on-3 situation with a perfect crossfire. LDLC were now down 4-15 and with their economy in shambles, and so it was with little surprise that they also conceded the next round.

Both teams then went to de_overpass, the third and last map of the series. Starting off on the highly-favoured CT side, NiP claimed bragging rights first thanks to a triple kill from f0rest and a double from Maikelele, but the Swedish team were then stunned on the eco as SmithZz got two entry frags in A before Vincent "⁠Happy⁠" Schopenhauer sealed the deal with two more kills of his own.

Some close then followed as neither side could stamp their authority on the game, but with the score 4-4 f0rest decided to take matters into his own hands and picked up four kills to put NiP back in the lead. The rest of the first half was a one-way street as NiP took seven rounds in a row and they will have GeT_RiGhT to thank for that as the Swedish talent won two crucial rounds for his team with triple kills.

LDLC gave a great response in the second half and won the first three rounds in convincing fashion, but in the first gun round NiP managed to surprise their opponents by holding the A site down in a 3-on-4 situation.

The following round also went to NiP, who were now up 13-8, but LDLC pulled one back right after, only to see the Swedes restore a five-round lead once again. The French side went on a force buy to keep NiP off the championship point and the move paid off as they took the score to 13-14. A triple from GeT_RiGhT then put NiP on the verge of victory, but LDLC won the last two rounds to take the match to overtime.

In overtime, NiP started out on the Terrorist side and actually managed to win a round, but in the second half the Frenchmen ran riot and picked up two rounds in a row to seal a 19-16 victory and deny NiP the chance to win back-to-back major titles.
