Titan book semi-final place

Titan have advanced to the ESL Pro League playoffs after seeing off 3DMAX 2-1 (16-14 on de_inferno, 10-16 on de_dust2 and 16-6 on de_cobblestone).

Following the exciting Upper Bracket final between EnVyUs and Titan, Group B resumed on Saturday morning with a Nordic clash between 3DMAX and Copenhagen Wolves, two teams that had failed to win a single map the day before.

With Mikko "xartE" Välimaa and Tom "stonde" Glad putting up big numbers, 3DMAX were able to take the lead in the series following a 16-8 victory on de_cobblestone, where the Finnish side turned in a flawless display on the CT side. The playing field on de_nuke was level, but not even Asger "AcilioN" Larsen's great individual performance was enough to prevent 3DMAX from sealing victory in this match.

kennyS was as lethal as usual and topped the scoreboard

Joona "natu" Leppänen's side moved on to the Consolidation Final with hopes of getting back at Titan for the 1-2 defeat on day one. The Finnish side came within touching distance of winning the first map of the series, where Taneli "disturbed" Veikkola amassed 30 kills, but victory still went to the Frenchmen, who relied on strong individual plays from Kévin "Ex6TenZ" Droolans and Kenny "kennyS" Schrub.

3DMAX then equalised the series after running out 16-10 winners on de_dust2, where they managed to pick up 12 rounds on the Terrorist side, but the final map of the series, de_cobblestone, was a one-way street as Titan quickly sealed a 16-6 win after taking 14 rounds on the Terrorist side.

Incorrect. Consolation has always been the correct form that is unfortunately often confused with "consolidation", so much so that it has embarassingly become part of journalistic parlance. "Consolidation" is a completely different word that simply means "uniting". Consolation, in this context, means: "a game, match, or race for tournament entrants eliminated before the final round, as a basketball game between the losing semifinalists." dictionary.reference.com/browse/consolat.. Gotta love clueless Finns who think they know English but gets owned at the end xD

ur retarded the consolation prize refers to people who don't win, basically this isn't the consolation match up. titan can still win.

you sure are proud about your supposed knowledge, too bad that "a game, match, or race for tournament entrants eliminated before the final round, as a basketball game between the losing semifinalists" isn't what is frequently called a consolidation match at all xD just read carefully and keep the ad hominems to yourself

Incorrect. "Consolidation" is irrelevant in this sense. If it is, then Titan and 3DMax would have to "join up", which would be nonsensical because they are competing. Consolation refers to the fact that the loser of the 3dMax vs Titan match will NOT advance to the bracket's final, thus being "consoled" with 2nd place in the bracket. The winner (Titan) will then move on to face whoever wins the Navi vs Envy match. These two words are actually some of the most misused in sports correspondences. As such, many people in here are understandably confused, including the article's author, MIRAA. By the way, he is Portuguese, and English is his second language :) This mess appears to be a mix of poor understanding of how the bracket works, poor vocabulary, the erroneous assumption that article writers don't make mistakes, and hasty idiots jumping on the bandwagon without providing explanation or even knowing what the discussion really entails...just for the sheer joy of bashing someone lol. Any English major or professor worth their dime would have invariably shut you down. But personally, I'll let it go simply because it would be fruitless for one to maintain any legitimate debate in a website well-known for the collective stupidity inherent in its users. I Hope you learned your lesson, and good luck :)

You are either a persistent troll or being deliberately ignorant, but I got time so I will bite. It makes perfect sense to use consolidation since joining Titan and 3DMAX is excactly what is happening, in the form of the winners and losers matches. A consolation match is a match of no importance, simply said.

It's not a consolation match because there is nothing to console because the teams are still in contention to win the fucking tournament! "Consolation match" is to refer to things like 3rd place matches where the teams can't win the tournament. As for calling the final match of a double elimination group stage "consolidation matches" It's ok, but Id still like to call them the "final matches".

Actually, Northern Europeans have consistently proven themselves to be one of the least proficient in the language. While English is indeed prevalent in that region's curriculum and business dealings (particularly in Sweden), people are still embarrassingly inept at its proper usage. It's also quite droll how Swedish children try to mimic Americans (from accents to lifestyles) because your own language and culture is barbaric :)

But the teams aren't playing for a consolation prize, they can still win the whole tournament. That term would make sense in a 3rd place decider match. Like here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_place_playof.. "The third place playoff, bronze medal game or consolation game" (Sorry for posting Wikipedia, but cba to find a better source)

The fact that you misunderstood the verb "console" in this context proves that you either know too little about your own language or that you are fake-flagging. You're jealous that I have a stronger command of the language than you do :)
