TSM beat NiP to win FACEIT Stage 1

Team SoloMid came from behind to beat Ninjas in Pyjamas 2-1 and win FACEIT League 2015 Stage 1 (1-16 on de_inferno, 21-18 on de_dust2 and 16-12 on de_cache).

With the semi-finals of the FACEIT League 2015 Stage 1 finals taking place earlier in the day, TSM, who triumphed over fnatic, faced off against NiP, who edged out Virtus.pro in a three-map series. The map draw played out as such: de_inferno, de_dust2 and de_cache.

After a lengthy series of delays due to network issues that kept winding the clock back on the game's start, the match finally commenced with NiP taking pistol on their CT side and continuing to pull ahead on de_inferno.

TSM suceeded in taking the sixth round of the game, but it was not to be for the rest of the half as NiP continued a one-sided stomp, finishing 14-1 up as the half ended.

NiP engaged cruise control on de_inferno

Both teams opted to buy armor on the second pistol round, but it was the Swedish-Finnish NiP who had the stronger set of gear as they brawled their way onto A site and took the second pistol round of the game. From there, it was a matter of NiP taking an easy final round, and the map closed 16-1.

de_dust2, which was NiP's choice, began with another confident lead for Richard "Xizt" Landström and his men. However, TSM finally started to liven up a bit in the series and began to shut down NiP's pushes, equalising the score at 5-5.

The Danes continued to drive forward and secured their own CT side in their favour: 10-5. Though NiP managed to put in pistol work and secure three rounds, TSM continued to strengthen their own teamplay and moved forward until the score stood at 14-8.

With Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth easily carrying the day for TSM in terms of frags, an A-split by the Danes on the 25th round brought them match point; NiP rallied six rounds in a row by simply playing passive and not allowing TSM to gather positional advantages.

With the score at 15-14, Adam "friberg" Friberg picked up three important kills and forced the overtime.

Xyp9x powered TSM to a third map

The first round of overtime saw Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg and René "cajunb" Borg performing a tap dance in a one-versus-one, with the Dane ultimately prevailing. The next round, Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund carried his team's hopes with a monstrous three kill play in lower B. TSM managed to dispel any chance of an advantage for the Ninjas however by picking up the final rounds of the MR5 overtime, finishing at 19-16 up.

Despite NiP mounting a slight comeback, TSM defended A-site successfully on the 38th round, giving them map point. In the next round, TSM found their inner Zen and took de_dust with a score of 21-18.

With de_cache the final map of play, NiP easily claimed the pistol round in their favour. A third-round buy from TSM paid off and allowed the Danish team to break their opponents' momentum. After losing the following two eco rounds, NiP then showed great defensive work in B to equalise the game on three rounds.

TSM then picked up two rounds to bring the scoreline to 5-3 in their favour, but their streak was cut short by a triple kill from friberg during an A retake. However, the Ninjas were unable to follow it up with another round as they were caught off-guard in a force-buy A rush by the Danes. The former dignitas team added two more rounds to their tally, but NiP picked themselves up in the final stages of the half to cut the gap to 7-8.

In the second half, TSM came out the brighter and further enlarged their lead, but NiP acquitted themselves well in gun play and restored parity later on. However, TSM upped the pace in the dying stages and strung a few rounds together to seal victory and scoop the title, their second in the space of a week.

There's only been 5 majors. They placed top 8 in all of them, top 4 in most of them. Looking back at their history with Fetish they barely won any (I can't remember any) lan events, big or small. Now they have strung together 2 events, and even though they were small, all top teams were there (nV and VP weren't at both of them though). These are the teams they will be facing in the majors and if it continues like this they just need to avoid VP and they have a good chance of making it to a grand final of a major and maybe even win it. At this moment the top 5 has a chance of winning the next major, we'll see who will be the victor.

Deserved! TSM was the only team that deserved to win this tournament, not only because of the teamwork that they display but also because of the matches that they had to reach the final (No easy NA/AUS matches). I was hoping for a TSM vs VP rematch in the final tho. But this was good enough! :D TSM TSM TSM

Will the prize breakdown be revealed at some point? I would really like to know it, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

This. This. This is the end of the choke talk about TSM.. They can pull out of a choke-situation.. so thorin can be replaced now.. he brought nothing but bs commentary this entire weekend. AGAIN.. + WarOwl

Id really like to see VP and TSM winning things more often, would be nice imo. Really too bad Virtus.pro lost that cache game.. I think they should have won it for being better overall on the 3rd map (my opinion tho). It appears ESL One Cologne gonna be very interesting :D

No, I'm keeping my personal track of all cs:go tournaments with their winners, finalists, prize purse and winnings, etc... I was very late for this work so I've only recently added this tournament, and I was looking if esportsearnings had it recorded, but 0$ was all I could find. However, we can estimate it. The total prize purse for the 3 stages is 275,000$. Suppose it was broken evenly between the 3 stages, it would make approximately a 90,000$ prize purse per tournament, which means at least 40,000$ for first place and at least 20,000$ for second place. But that's supposing they broke it down evenly, because as I understood it, the last stage is supposed to be the most important of the 3, with the teams who performed the best at the 2 first ones, but I'm not entirely sure it'll work that way eventually. Also, we could consider putting pressure as viewers on FACEIT to release this information. I've recorded every single LAN event until the scene started, and it's the only one which has not revealed its prize purse and break-down, it's ridiculous.

Sending an e-mail about it to ddk, James or some other FACEIT staff might work though. I might try to send them later after this LAN.

We have the prize purse and break-down for stage 2, but what's weird is that it's 100,000$. It either means that all 3 stages will have the same, in which case the total prize was upped by 25,000$, or it could mean that stage 1 or stage 3 will have only 75,000$ to give. But maybe now that they released it for stage 2 they could release it for stage 1 as well :D!

There's probably a couple of stages and each stage qualifies X number of teams for the "grand final" where there, in my theory, should be a great prize pool. Just a theory.

for the spectator, this has to be the worst event in a long long..... long time!!! No reflection on the teams, face it just did an awful job organising it! Delays after delays after delays in a dull boring venue with no atmosphere and that was before the fiasco of a final even started! Face it you guys relaly need to step up and put on a better show. Well played all the teams though
