Day one of the Gfinity Summer Masters I, taking place inside the British company's esports arena, in London, kicked off with two Danish teams facing tough challenges in the first round of the group stage.

dignitas entered the match against Titan thinking that they would have to be in tip-top form to move past the Frenchmen, but Kévin "⁠Ex6TenZ⁠" Droolans's men simply looked way off the pace throughout the series, especially Kenny "⁠kennyS⁠" Schrub, who surprisingly was the bottom fragger of his team.

With Philip "⁠aizy⁠" Aistrup in stunning form, dignitas easily disposed of Titan on two maps, picking up 16-10 and 16-7 victories on de_mirage and de_overpass, respectively, to advance to the next round.

The other match turned out to be far closer than the odds initially suggested as Ninjas in Pyjamas had to work hard to beat SK Gaming, who are attending their first event with their newest recruit, Danny "⁠BERRY⁠" Krüger. 

But not even SK's fighting spirit prevented NiP from closing out the series after two maps as they were unable to contain Adam "⁠friberg⁠" Friberg, who silenced his critics with an impressive 1.36 rating display to inspire his team to scrape a 22-19 on de_cobblestone and a 16-12 success on de_inferno.
