CeX ventures into CS:GO

UK retailer CeX has made a foray into competitive Counter-Strike with the acquisition of its own team.

CeX, a UK-based second hand retailer specialised in technology and entertainment products, has joined the ever-growing list of companies that are venturing into esports by supporting a team.

The roster features Andrew "⁠AndrewIsGod⁠" Thursfield, Andrew "⁠resu⁠" Robson and Henry "⁠chron1c⁠" Thornton, three players who were part of the exceL team that attended the ESL UK Premiership finals, in May, as EZskins.

Rounding out the lineup will be two foreign players: 20-year-old Dane Simon "cleMeNz0" Jensen, and 25-year-old Polish veteran Philipp "⁠osirisbash⁠" Kaczmarczyk, who was part of the highly-successful mTw CS:Source squad.

We're all very excited for the opportunity to represent CeX a brand that shares our passion for esports and CounterStrike.

None of us could have ever imagined that a shop we would have previously gone in to trade our games would now be sponsoring and supporting us.

We hope to do them proud at both domestic and foreign events.

The team will make their debut for CeX at the upcoming Insomnia 55 festival, which will take place from August 28-31 at the Ricoh Arena, in Coventry.

its quite hard to keep 5 brits on the same page, so this is the best way to go.

If there's no one to teach the UK players the all-round game then why not try and bring in some foreign talent that can help them? ^_^ Better than the blind leading the blind

I worked for CeX in downtown crossing boston and it is by far one of the worst companies in the world. No employee benefits, minimum wage, no room for growth, no money put into the store. Using shit computers to by people shitty products and turn them around for a quick buck. AWFUL fucking company.

i work there now here in the UK. no staff benefits? 15% discount on all items, borrow almost anything for free, a free festival every year ran by the company with free alcohol and food. the computers aren't amazing but theyr only used for processing transactions so dont see the issue here. yeah its minimum wage if you're just a sales assistant but its far from the worst place to work. guess NA side of it just sucks ass like the NA side of everything
