ESL One Cologne list updated

With the European offline qualifier for ESL One Cologne now behind us, the number of confirmed participants has increased to 14.

Team Kinguin, FlipSid3 Tactics, Team eBettle and Titan survived the terrifying best-of-one qualifier and have been granted entries into the upcoming major, scheduled for August 20-23.

The last two spots at the $250,000 championship, sponsored by Valve, will be filled through the North American qualifier, which will take place in Burbank on August 1-2, with the likes of Cloud9 and Team Liquid in attendance.

Fourteen teams have been determined for ESL One Cologne

ESL One Cologne will be held at two different locations: the group stage will be played out inside ESL's esports arena, while the playoffs will be held at a 15,000-seater stadium to be built inside the Lanxess Arena.

this is why DH winter 2014 was my favourite major, they didnt feel the need to put the group stage of a 250,000 dollar tournament in some shitty studio where no one could watch, the group stage matches were played one the same stage as the final and thats what made it really cool. Its just gonna feel really shit when there are no spectators for the first 2 days of the tournament.

yep, even though I gotta admit feeling slightly dissapointed not seeing a huuuuge stage etc for the grand finals, I suppose this setup was the most enjoyable for people actually at the venue. groups are the most interesting part of the whole tourny imo

if it was up to me to seed teams for this event, also assuming cloud and clg or liquid qualify id do something along the lines of: seed 1 - tsm, fnatic, vp, navi (cant justify envy with poor recent performance and roster changes) seed 2 - envy, nip, c9, kinguin seed 3 - titan, rng, mouz, keyd seed 4 - flipside, immunity, clg/liquid, ebettle (hard to say with flipside, as they can beat anyone from seed 3 - the loss of s1mple is my main reasoning for seed 4)

LOL no cloud 9 actually gets a relatively hard group at majors Dhw13 (as complexity): vg, n!faculty, xapso (finished 1st in groups) Katowice 14 (as complexity): lgb, navi, clan mystik (finished 2nd in groups) Cologne 14: titan, dignitas (now TSM), vox eminor (finished 1st in groups) Dhw 14 (I admit this was a relatively easy group): fnatic, hr, bravado (finished 3rd in groups) Katowice 15: vp, TSM, 3dmax (finished 3rd in groups) But I do think nip usually gets an ez group
