ESL release 79-team world ranking

Earlier today ESL announced the $250,000 invitational tournament hosted in Dubai in September. What came as a surprise to most was that TSM was not among the invitees.

It was later on explained on Twitter by ESL Pro Gaming vice-president, Ulrich Schulze, who stressed that ESL have come up with a full-scale world ranking and the invites were handed to the top five teams, as well as the top side from North America, Cloud9.

Despite saying it would come out tomorrow initially, ESL have decided to rush the release following the community's disapproval.

There are 32 LAN competitions included in the ranking, which date all the way back to Gfinity 3 exactly a year ago. Admittedly the points from events decay over a specified period of time to zero after 12 months.

Apparently the system in place still has some faults, as in some cases, points were assigned to organizations as opposed to lineups (dignitas and TSM), while in others, points transferred between organizations (e.g. Luminosity and Keyd Stars).

None of the officials have responded to the matter as of yet, even though TSM would seemingly earn a place above NiP had they been assigned some points from their time in dignitas. That would shake up ESL's grounds on the invites for the Dubai event.
