NiKo steps in for SK at IEM

mousesports backup player Nikola "NiKo" Kovač will play for SK Gaming as a stand-in at IEM Gamescom, Casper "cadiaN" Møller has revealed.

The Bosnian ace will step into the shoes of Michael "⁠Friis⁠" Jørgensen, who has been ruled out of the German event as he will be on vacation.

This is the second time in just two months that Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač steps in for a team at the last minute after he played for Kinguin at the Gaming Paradise qualifier as a replacement for Alexander "⁠SKYTTEN⁠" Carlsson.

NiKo to play for SK in Cologne

NiKo helped the team to win the event on an impressive 1.28 rating, but Kinguin decided not to follow up their interest in the Bosnian talent once they learned mousesports' asking price for the player.

This is the second non-permanent player that SK will field at IEM Gamescom as Casper "⁠cadiaN⁠" Møller is currently on trial with the team. The former Copenhagen Wolves talent already attended the Acer Predator Masters finals last weekend, where SK finished 5th-6th.

SK will attend IEM Gamescom with the following lineup:

Rasmus "⁠SandeN⁠" Sanden
Danny "⁠BERRY⁠" Krüger
Casper "⁠cadiaN⁠" Møller (trial)

All those "vacations" look a bit weird. I mean, really? Since SK pays its players a salary, those players are employees. Can you imagine, that you don't go to your company's office, although you should, because you go to resort or something? Seriously, wtf??? Yeah, because normal employees doesn't get any kind of vacation. Your logic is insane, even for hltv standards. There is a large chance that Friis had made the travel arrangements even before talk of joining SK and even if he did it later on, they can't account for every single tournament when planning their holidays, because there is always matches. If they are in fact paid employees then they also have the liberty to take a vacation and it will be something that is written into their contracts. Welcome to the real world hltv warrior.

They don't get those vacations ANY TIME they want them. If you're a lawyer in some company, and there is to be some big agreement in the next 2 weeks, and you're the only lawyer there, I highly doubt your director will let you go to vacation in that period of time. Later - yeah, but not when you're really needed for your company. The difference is, that in the case of normal employee and his boss it's a mutual decision on when will you go to vacation. In case of SK I really doubt, that SK would let one of their key players (the main sniper!) go somewhere and leave them with 2 stand-ins (cadiaN is a stand-in too, he's not signed any agreement).

Thats why I said that you couldn't know when he ordered the vacation and/or if it was agreed with SK beforehand that he had a vacation at that time. You're just focussing on the negatives thinking that we are talking about some pro team. What I am saying is that you should stop assuming what is in their contracts, what is not and how they should regard that contract, because you have no idea how it is formed and what liberties the individual players have.
