Team Liquid win iBP Fall Invitational

Team Liquid win the iBUYPOWER Fall Invitational, defeating Luminosity 2-1 (20-22 on de_inferno, 16-5 on de_cache, and 16-11 on de_mirage).

The third edition of the iBUYPOWER Invitational doled out an increased prize-pool of $15,000 for a weekend of online best-of-three bracket play featuring some of North America's strongest teams.

The biggest storyline leading up until the grand final was Conquest, the previous Sponsorless lineup, who nearly managed to unseat a struggling Luminosity lineup in a semifinal series where one map went into double overtime and the final map went into triple overtime.

nitr0 has been on point for Liquid recently

The third place match, which was played before the grand final, eventually saw Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan and his men of Conquest upset CLG and therefore guarantee themselves a payout of $2,000 for third place.

In the best-of-three grand final, Spencer "Hiko" Martin & co. of Team Liquid clashed with iBP Summer Invitational champions Luminosity (who were then Keyd Stars), the latter team having recently been narrowly defeated by the former in a best-of-five duel for the PGL Season 1 finals.

The first map was de_inferno and both teams attempted to feel the other out as well as gain much needed momentum for the later maps, and as a result both outfits refused to let up with the match going into double overtime. In the end, Marcelo "coldzera" David's dominant scoreline and a grittier Luminosity defense gave the Brazilians the map, 22-20.

de_cache was a cakewalk for Team Liquid, who had previously proven to be strong on the map against Luminosity, a team with not much cache presence in the first place. Eric "adreN" Hoag and his men took the map with ease: 16-5.

The final map of de_mirage saw the American team notch up a strong CT-sided run with 11-4 the result at the half. However, Luminosity won the second pistol and began to mount a comeback, going as close as bringing the score to 11-10.

Team Liquid called a tactical pause, which gave the team clearer-heads, and with Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski leading the way in entries, Liquid pulled forward to win the third map 16-11.

I'm not sure if American means people from the continent "America" but the word America when you say it means referring to USA. That's why USA in short is "United States of America"

To everyone outside the US. An American is a citizen of the USA. Maybe you guys don't talk that way, which I doubt, but the rest of us do. Mexicans, Canadians, Brazilians, Americans, etc etc.

Some times we refer to Canadians as American, but usually because they are playing on a US team. When we are lumping you together, we call you North Americans (USA/Canada) or South Americans (Mexicans,Brazilians etc)

No, its the other way around. Most north americans see US citizens as americans, its just a few european countries as as well as latin american countries which see other wise. Hes just one of the few open minded americans who can see things in another perspective

m8, LG beat 10 tier 5 teams to get 12/0/8 on LAN. Other than that they've beaten Kinguin and barely beat f3 on LAN. Without WinOut LAN LG would be 2/0/8 on LAN.

Team Liquid deserved this so much. In only a week, they're becoming one of the most dominating team in North America. Please schedule a match between C9.G2A v Team Liquid. That would be the match to decide whether or not Team Liquid is #1 in North America or not.

C9 was good in just one great championship, that was esl esea, the last two apparitions were disappointing (major and now in Dubai). Esl esea, They defeated an envyus that was worn and loosing against any teams (and so they changed) and after defeated CLG(just common). So.. I really can't see why everyone see them as top1 NA. Now Liquid proved too strong, but in lan championship last week, they didn't click. And LG don't matter what championship they play in NA, don't matter who they play at finals, they are ever 2nd place, but are consistents in lan ensuring the last two majors. So the point is, today there is no top1 NA. C9, Liquid and LG are very alike and can beat each other, with CLG and some new NA teams very close.

I guess Liquid finally sorted out their roles within the team. I want to see Elige on lan to see if he can step it up as he is doing online.

nV and kinguin = easy group? C9 was eliminated by kinguin my friend and nV went to the final against fnatic. Therefore, your statement is proved invalid.

oh cool, LG can nearly beat fnatic 14-16 on mirage but can't beat liquid because all of a sudden adreN is top 3 awper in the world, landing multiple shots throughout the game through smoke, sweet. i mean, they're just total shit on LAN but okay. nice way to waste money, on a broken game with easily obtainable cheats used by "PROFESSIONALS". cool way to make lots of money when you hold events and own teams, huh iBP and gameplan?

Lg deserve it. Saddly, their crucial mistake was those sequencial 5 low buys as T side. It cost them the victory. They also had to primarily ban cache.

Not saying they're cheating, but Hiko have been there for like what? Two weeks? And in this time, because of him nitro became the best entryfragger in NA, Elige gained Hiko's reaction, and Adren is laying like Skal? I don't think Hikos has a lot to do with Liquid recent sucess, i really think they've just had one hell of a lucky week.

Agreed. Hiko is just an excuse. Yes he's good and all, but a team can't get so good instantly, plus have so many fking aimlocks by Fugly and Elige

I'm pretty sure they cheated as well. At least fugly and elige aimbotted. There are multiple vods on overpass and mirage where they aim lock. I havn't bet a single skin on this game so go figure... If Liquid is smart then you'll see them suck on LAN or be good and eventually get VAC'ed. I don't believe a team can get that good right away and have so many suspicious moments in one game by same players Elige and Fugly. I just won't take this shit.

C9? Hello? C9 were shit, then suddenly they turned up at a LAN and rocked it. It does happen, all the fucking time. A new player can change the dynamic of a team, send them on a hot streak, which is what has happened with Liquid.. All this aimlock shit is just noise like it was for Flusha, guess what.. No VAC for Flusha. I would be shocked if they were hacking if only because of which organisation they play for, also, it's not hard to become the 2nd best team in North America.... especially when that spot is currently held by a South American team lol

This is so typical brazilian BS. When our beloved team lose, the majority of brs hue, who doesn't accept losing, go out and call the opponent cheater. this same bs happened in the lol wildcard finals, intz vs besiktas... The br team lost and the fanboys came out of their caves bragging how besiktas cheated... pathetic

Elige is somekind of god, he's probably the best online player. His gamesense and aim was godlike. He was always pre firing and targeting the right corner the player would come from. Fugly as well... that pre fire in inferno A bombsite was very good. Kappa Wanna see that on lan. haha
